Hooking EVERYTHING up to a modern HDTV - A Guide (Update for the Framemeister coming soon!)

So screw the macademia nuts to the board while having a beaver chew the wire so he can crap it out while inside my nintendo? Gotcha.

KIDDING!! So all I have to do is power the scaler? All that other stuff isn’t for me unless I’m using it for an arcade?

You’ll use the 2 wire connector to power the sync strike via the scaler

pots

potentiometers

That’s a great idea! I can use the power adaptor I so stupidly ordered with the SS for the scaler!!

Good stuff!

my mistake I was rushing zapf’s right there called pots

You did purchase the right power adapter right? he has the round prong euro type on the site. I have never ordered from him so I’m not sure of the options he offers.
But you would think since he’s shipping to the states he would send the proper power adapter

The voltage is the same I might need some cheapo piece to change the connector.

voltage is not the issue why dont you check around the house you prolly have one that you forgot about its a very common plug and the plug can be a little bit smaller/bigger the voltage is 5V-12V so most ac adapters will be fine. The voltage is written on the inside of the adapter

so it is the European style plug? those converter plugs are a pain when using AC adapters they tend to fall out of the plug due to weight

5 to 12? I’m gonna go looking!!

Are you sure the adapter supports US ac voltage input (110).

It should say what it takes on the adapter.

Waiting on it to come in. I have just about everything but the Sync Strike and AC adapters for everything.

Genesis > XRGB-3 > Gefen VGA to DVI Scaler Plus > Optoma HD3000 > 1080p LCD

How did you get Amy? Looks a bit TOO good to be good with lag.

It’s a ROM hack loaded on an Everdrive flash cart. The picture’s washed out, it looks much better in person. I tried to correct it somewhat in photoshop, but, as you can see, it created artifacts :s

Both the XRGB-3 and Optoma have about a frame of lag each and I’ve read the Gefen is lagless. It better be! These scalers ran around $1000 together.

Crap… Cost effective methods for the win.

How much did all that video gear run you? It seems like a hell of a commitment to move over to an HDTV.

If anyone is on a CRT I give my full endorsement to the SCART cable+SCART to component setup. The picture is beautiful. It ran me a little over $80 for the converter and SNES/Genesis cables.

Question!!! I finally found a 12 volt adapter. Here’s what I did and here’s what happened:

Plugged in the power. Plugged a VGA cable out. Plugged in my PS2 via component. It works on YbPRwhatever that was and freaks out when you try RGB. Fine. It looks exactly the same. Mega Man X Collection? Great? The lag? Amazing. I’m feeling old school as hell. Problem? The board seems to… Shut off on its own every few seconds. It’s pretty damn annoying. I’m thinking its the AC adapter. I’m gonna go see if I can find another one. Anyone have ideas? Lemme in on it please!!

just double check were the ac adapter plugs in does it say 5v-12v mine does I have the 8220

also try diffrent resolution have you messed with the menu
Is the little red light cutting off or is it just dropping the picture if its dropping the picture and the scaler is staying on its prolly on the wrong resolution setting

5v. Crap. The manual has the same thing. Craaaaaappp! Go back to the wire pile and find a 5v. Took forever to find one that fit.

thats weird mine has DC5v-12v
you might have to order one if thats the case, very few things use 5v you could pull it from a usb cable easy though

I switched the language to English. Saw the settings. Watched the light. It shuts off. Damn false hope.
