Just got back from Taiwan. Is GameMax still the only arcade with 2012?
What’s up Hong Kong’ers, I’m an exchange student studying here from California for the next 5 months. How’s the scene out here, where are the best players and arcades to be found? I’ve found a few but only one was to my liking, I’m about to go hit up gamemax in Causeway since I’ve heard so many good things. If you ever see the only white dude there playing Akuma or Cody thats probably me XD
I think GM may still be the only place with 2012. Not sure where the best level of competition is these days but I’d wager Wan Chai or Lai Chi Kok. What university are you attending right now? Also, my number’s 9023-0966. Shoot me a text if you want to get some games in.
Heyoo. I think I may have seen you sometime last week at Gamemax… I remember there was a white dude chatting with another asian guy standing behind the SF machines. I’m all tall and white and stuff, play Guile only. Anyway I posted a list of arcades further up in this thread, just scroll up a bit. I believe GM, Central and Wanchai are all on 2012 by now. SmartGame in mk is also 2012, but I believe Lai Chi Kok and Newtown Mall are vanilla AE still.

Wan Chai has 2012? I went there last Saturday and all the cabinets save one were dead. Nice to hear that Central has 2012.
I haven’t actually gone into smoke city in AAAGES so I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t have it. Anyway I’ll prob swing by central tonight around 7 for a little bit
I’m going to HKU and staying farther down Pokfulam, not super close to the city or Kowloon but it could be much worse and obviously public transport is not an issue.
Yeah Ahgama that could easily have been me, whenever I’m out fiending for some Street Fighter it’s always with my chinese-american friend who also came on the same exchange program, I got into the game with him back in 2009 playing vanilla SF4.
What’s the skill level like around here? I haven’t really been out to arcades during what are probably the peak hours, so most of the people I played sucked something awful. I’m really not that good either, maybe like a B in online rank on a good day 
Going to HKU huh? I’m a full-time student there, year 1. Which hall are you living in? We should meet up sometime.
Most of the arcade regulars and the HKFighter guys are competent with at least one character and sometimes several. Unless you’re playing on Monday or weekend (except for Sunday nights though, the level of competition tends to vary. Sometimes you’ll go up against guys who only use HP and HK and pick random select, sometimes you’ll get gimmicky players mashing Condor Dive with T. Hawk or wall-dive with Vega, sometimes you’ll get guys who are decent but only counterpick and never adapt their gameplay and sometimes you’ll just meet people who destroy you 3-0 for free.
I’m living in the student flats, in the same building as Lee Hsyan hall but in apartments with international students (even though out of 6 in the flat of us there are 5 americans so I guess not that international lol). We should def meet up, where are you at?
I live in Starr. Probably not going to be free until Thursday or Friday if you want to head down to the arcades.
Thursday and Friday are both shitty days for classes, so Wednesday and Thursday nights I can’t do much When do you typically go down, and where, Gamezone?
I mostly play at GameMax at Causeway Bay. Usually Friday and Saturday evenings, sometimes Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons too.

Mine is 5610-1958, I’m def down to get more games in and redeem my one failure in Causeway tonight. Hard to say if ima make it back to Gamemax this weekend but these 1’s are burning a hole in my pocket so we’ll see, i’ll drop you a text if I do. You go Mondays much? I got no classes at all on Monday and nothing til 1 pm on Tuesday so my guess is thats gonna be my arcade day once i settle into a routine
I’ve got two 2-hour periods on Monday morning but I’m free otherwise. Monday evenings sound good.
Yo apparently Natch and I are both retarded because we played like 20 games last night at SG before realizing that it really was still on 2011. My bad. On the bright side, Prince Edward has proper 2012 setups so that’s a good spot now. Check my arcade list again, added the location.

I’ve been maining Dee Jay since Super, looking for some good competition (I’m 2500-3000PP online, as a general indication).
