Honest questions to those that complain about Chun-Li

all i have to say is …your arguments may look extremely convincing …even undeniable to the untrained eye . But i think all of us here unanimously just have one thing to say to you .

‘‘play third strike , it’s a good game’’

This is getting boring now, trolls these days just don’t do it, I miss Roshi.

‘are massively superior to others’, ‘facts’, ‘evidence’ -> ‘I’m right, you’re wrong! get this!’

yes, generally people use facts and evidence to support an argument that something is true. congratulations on understanding debate 101. i know it is probably hard for you since 3rd strike logic is more akin to that employed by water diviners and 9/11 truthers.

assumptions galore .

P.S … O.Gs couldn’t handle the parry mechanics …something which prevents the abuse of overpowered elements within the game …NOOOO

Everytime I read a thread like this it always seems to degenerate into “People who love to play third strike” vs “People who like third strike” or some other similar formula.

It’s just such a peculiarly 3rd Strike thing to think that loving the game means you have to think the game is perfect in every way. Like, I’m sure Justin Wong loves MvC2 but do you think he tells people trying to beat Santhrax with Roll/Sentinel/Servbot that they just need to step up their game and it’s all in the player?

(Note for 3S weirdos: I in no way mean to imply that the best character vs. worst character matchup in 3S is as bad as the aforementioned matchup. Save me your defensive indignation on this point at least.)

You should ignore the fact that this troll even mentioned “O.G’s”. The only OG’s this guy knows are SF2 players, where projectile positioning and zoning were important and matchups were everything. This guy has ignored the fact that the parry mechanic can change the tole of any 8-2 match up, reading players tendencies in this game has a bigger effect then any fighting game because of the low risk - high reward of parry, where as in any other game you’d be left open for damage if you guessed. Which has pretty much been the on going discussion of this thread, parry makes dealing with higher tiers easier, does it mean that the matchup is now free? No but it does give you more of a fighting chance. Watch any low tier specialist, fucking incredible parriers.

oh right, i forgot that matchup numbers don’t take the fact that you can parry into account. my bad.

yes if mov and nitto played lower tier characters, they would still be winning tournaments.
same goes with rikimaru, boss, nuki etc.

how do i know? ive played vs all these people and their alts more than you can imagine.

you obviously dont play this game, youre nobody and you are wasting my time typing this.

“Take a breath, drink some beer and do something else than playing this obviously unbalanced crappy game.”

How would you take into account a parry, champ? Parries are based on guessing what your opponent is going to do, you also can condition someone to do something for you to take advantage of, tiers are based on matchups, parries would be excluded because they are completely random, if you could look at hugo vs alex, how many times will alex low parry hugos low short? You couldn’t tell me because what if he didn’t even do low short. Dumbest logic ever.

^ chun vs hugo, parries changing the game drastically for hugo.

Isn’t it a funny coincidence that the top tier of characters is massively overrepresented among the most tournament-winning players, then?

you want to play coin flipping money matches? every time it comes up heads i’ll give you 10 dollars. every time it’s tails you give me 20. hey, a coin flip is totally random, right? you can’t account for that with math!

You’re pretty much proving my point more so, except in Third Strike the results aren’t so dire. Because you can control when you want to try and parry, you also can read players tendencies, making you more confident in taking such risks, or simply fishing, very high reward low risk, but ultimately? All random, because nobody can read minds, just like tier charts cant guess a matchup with parries, but then again you really seem like a moron, so I’m not surprised you cant seem to get a grip on this.

most of the best players happen to use high tier characters, why is this so hard to understand.
chun is the best character, but thats not the reason why she wins tournaments.

ps. i dont know why you keep bringing up match up charts. lol. why dont you check your home page and see what year the last matchup chart was made

http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2007/dec/18/tiers-character-rankings-street-fighter-3-third-strike/

so tier charts cant account for parries because of “reading” (which is part of player skill differences, so beyond the scope of tier charts anyway) and because… it’s random, which means you can’t account for it because… you say so?

you’re really bad at reading comprehension, huh?

you’ve just restated what i just said. my question is why all the players you consider the best happen to use top tier characters? is it just a massive coincidence?

i mean, imagine chun li vs chun li except one chun’s SA2 does its regular damage and the other does 70% damage, and that’s the only difference. literally all the forces of rational thinking (the sworn enemy of 3s fanboys everywhere) might say that this matchup favours the 70% SA2 chun both on paper and in reality, but it actually turns out that in reality it’s 5-5 because parries! they’re random! this is literally what you are saying.

You can account for when a parry is going to take place? When you watch a match, you say, in 5 seconds a low forward will be parried? You have a gift. It’s not because I say so, it’s just common sense that nobody can tell you when a parry will happen. Jesus you really do know nothing about this game, yet you seem to want to tell us why were all delusional for thinking it’s a good game.

Lol @ eventhubs homepage, either that or capcom unity. Guy is lost, go convince Blazblu players that they should be playing GG, would be more entertaining.

why do they use top tier characters? i dont know. should i go ask every single top player why they use their character for your late night/early morning reading enjoyment?

good game player is joe the condor on a different name. bet it.
