I played a few rounds with Rolent23. The man is a beast for sure. He was a super nice guy too from what I remember.

So, moving away from the idea of comparison, if anybody has videos of honda vs dhalsim, please post them up. I play a pretty good dhalsim occasionally and I cannot get in on him for the life of me. Jumping fierce beats every single butt splash I do clean!!! FP headbutt is a free fierce on block for sim and sim’s neutral jump jab (I think) completely prevents me from jumping over fireballs effectively. Shit’s infuriating :annoy:
I’ve browsed through probably close to 100 videos of Honda matches from across the world since I started playing SF4 and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a honda vs sim match. Ever.
Decent month for Honda it seems after browsing nohoho’s blog. You can find li desu ketsu bat’s Honda performance that qualified him and yoshio, the famous ST guile, for SBO here. Li Desu Ketsu Bat is one of two Nakano TRF Arcade’s famous Honda’s. Holy shit is round 3 nuts… One of the best whiff punishes I’ve ever seen in my entire fukin life!
Ohayo1234, the famous CvS2 player, speaks pretty highly of Li Desu Ketsu Bat so be sure to check him out. A few things to note are the team they beat to qualify for SBO this year was Vega Curry and Aojiru Guile. Aojiru guile is probably Japan’s best balrog and finished top 8 @ Japanese Nationals. He sits at 90,000 bp, top 10 bp of japan. Vega Curry is the sagat that knocked Daigo out of the Japanese Nationals.
If you look at Arcadia Magazine’s latest tier list, you’ll notice that Honda went to tier B and Ken to tier D. It’s probably cause everybody saw Akimo, Namameso and Li Desu Ketsu Bat and said holy shit, wtf.

Here are two more Honda vs Dhalsim matches that I found over at the Dhalsim character discussion forum.
Also while I was browsing the Dhalsim discussion forum, I noticed that matchup wise they gave it 6-4 in Dhalsim’s favor. I can see why considering it is tough to approach Dhalsim with Honda. However, one thing that I have noticed with my matches against Dhalsim is that Honda can FA pretty much all of Dhalsim’s specials (except yoga flame). With this and my experience with Dhalsims so far, Honda has the slight advantage when you make the Dhalsim player come to you. Though, this is not based on tournament matches, but rather Xbox Live matches in Championship mode.

The thing i dislike about FAing against dhalsim is if you FA a fireball, you eat a fierce. I guess just FAing fireballs is the important thing.

I figured I will start contributing my match videos for review and advice. Here are some videos of me playing at Paul’s Wallcade yesterday. I made top 10 in this tourney so i didn’t do too bad. It was a good time. I was only able to tape my first match and my losses because i was low on battery. The first link is me vs somebody not sure. The second video is me vs nestor and the last video is me vs smooth viper. any tips and advice would be appreciated and i will be posting more videos from now on. Sorry for the shaky camera on the first video. my friend was really wobbly with the camera and i think his finger or somebody was blocking the lower left screen.

Overall, you played Honda very well. You spaced yourself pretty well, ticked into Ochio throws, and punished the mistakes of your opponents.
One thing I do recommend while playing against Sagat is to try to combo more into the heavy HHS. Not so much for the damage, but for the pressure and the spacing that you have afterwards. But be wary though. While comboing into the HHS and building pressure is good against some characters like Sagat, it can work against you with others. Zangief is a prime example of this. With Zangeif, it is better to stay out of sweep range, comboing into the headbutt, and stuffing Zangeif’s air game with jumping HP or HK.
On a side note: Sorry about the double posting of the PinoAB7 video. Next time, I will pay a little more attention when I am posting links :wonder:.
You seem to be things right in your vids. My only recommendation is to block tiger knee standing so that you are at a greater advantage when coming out of the block stun. I get that EX HHS slap thing off of cross-up j.mk, c.lp xx fp hhs, rh too and is pisses me off -_-.
Make sure you don’t let the sagat’s at your arcade know that blocked fp headbutt is reversalable w/ low ex tiger shot if blocked high ?_?

Amazing video of Nakano TRF in action. Incredible play by some of the game’s best players. Ojisan, Mago, Yoshio, Ii Desu Tetsu Bat, Nemo, a godlike fuerte that knocks nemo out, etc etc
The honda specific fights are against a master ranked akuma, fuerte and against Ojisan sagat. Ii Desu Tetsu Bat has seriously reached an amazing level of hand slap consistency. Never an ex hhs and it always cancels correctly off the jab.

OK here’s a vid of me in the very final match of a 3v3 team battle. Needless to say I won, but I’d love some tips from you guys. I realise I did some really stupid things and was immensely lucky not to get an ultra in the face, normally that Chun player would have gotten them out but he didn’t seem on top of his game. Also I was really nervous, the two guys on my team are immense players and they both got knocked out, and with that and the pressure of a prize etc, I was bricking it.
