My only criticism is that people should stop posting their online matches. They dont mean anything. How do you know that this gouken playerâs wife is yelling at him during the entire match. Maybe this guy has been playing for 10 hours straight and isnt even concentrating on the match. From the looks of how you played, it seemed like you played the match with nothing on the line (random jumps, random buttstomps.) Most players play online just for the hell of it, if you really wanna us to criticize your gameplay, why dont you show us a vid of you in a tournament/money match or a first to 5 with a friend that actually cares or somethingâŚffs
I assume you were referring to haitian_sensation with those comments (since he said, âlet me know what I did wrongâ). Anyone trying to give serious critiques to those matches Streak uploaded is missing the point hahah.
However, while Iâm sticking my nose in here, I would point out that the title of the thread is, âHonda Vidsâ not, âSerious Honda Tournament Vidsâ despite the fact it arguably -should- be that. =)
The wife waits until the match starts to strike up a conversation of how you should be taking out the trash and doing the dishes in the sink and how shes âfeelingâ overall. This is a fact.
Canât you say that about anything though? Just because the dude doesnât have his head straight or is distracted isnât a reason to discredit the match. Those same things can be happening during a tournament plus you can just be mentally worn down AND hungry because tournaments (or at least the ones Iâve gone to) always start late. Or your PS3 stick doesnât work on an Xbox. Or t.v. lag or its so damn hot in this basement weâre playing in or whatever. Or Iâm totally wrong and your totally right.
EIther way, you damn sure shouldnât be jumping at a Balrog. At least not the smart ones.
Well, these threads used to just be for posting sick japanese Honda videos when we didnât have the game yet. Arcade footage or stuff you can watch the up your game like hands tutorials orâŚwhatever. There just arenât as many quality high-level games to critique games getting posted anymore. Thereâs nothing wrong with asking for help, thatâs what the forums are for, but it can be a little unnerving to want to up your game and instead be treated to someone destroying a terribad with nothing gained but a sour taste.
I really agree with all of these, ESPECIALLY anything regarding meter management. After a jab counter-hit->super for the win in the last tourney i went to, Iâve really been trying to work with meter management.
Holy crap hondaâs super owns. And I really think honda should be able to super at least once a match. I used to waste meter with fadc and random exâs, or even âeducated guessâ exâs. But the truth is that one ex headbutt will only save you from 200ish damage, assuming it hits?
Playing my roommate before we went around 10-5/6 me/him (honda-abel).
After practicing my meter management, I managed to land super NINE games. Final score 10-2
another thing to keep in mind. HHS chips like a mofo and gives you crazy meter. fuck oicho. Learn the block strings to bait out jumps (st.lp, c.lp xx hands- c.lk(x2!), c.lp xx hands- st.lp, c.lk, c.lp xx hands). I really only start throwing when i have super meter.

Iâm kind of worried about posting a vid for help and tips on my Honda in here since I read alot of these pages and read alot of flaming. But here goes. I only recently picked up honda as my new main. Used to use Gen in vanilla sf4. Any tips and help is appreciated. Sorry about the camera, I know it isnt the greatest.

Haha, fitting that I am the first one to respond! Hello evil, welcome to the Honda forums. I watched the video and I really cant tell how good you are by the video. That blanka looked like it was controlled by a 8 month old infant. You know, instead of showing us matches of how you guessed 100 times w/ headbutts, how about showing us a video that actually matters against a skilled opponent. I know its hard but showing us a match that youâŚGULP actually lose, is actually a better way to judging your playstyle. But from what I could tell from that video it looked like you had some basic concepts of Honda, keep it up. If you were the Blanka, i would just tell you to quit.
Blanka one isâŚyeah⌠useless⌠but I watched the ken one and there are some things I think you could work on.
Crouch teching: it looks like you are mashing jab when youâre blocking? Crouch tech allows you to tech, can lead into hhs, and doesnât allow free jump ins as easily as c.lp
Punishing: You miss a ton of punishes vs ken, even if you miss hhs occasionally, at least oicho instead of normal throw (or just practice hhs more). Also applies to anti airs, LP hb and chop were perfectly viable to use vs kens jump; no reason not to hit him.

I also made a post last page about meter usage and super (lost on bottom of the page ftl), keeping that information in mind would also help, you use a lot of ex with no apparent reason.

just thought i would share thisâŚfound this interesting, havent tried it myself, but the guy that did this was using turbo for his lack of execution, but apparentlyâŚhonda has a kara ochio =/

Interesting, but honda barely moves forward a tenth of a square. May or may not be worth it depending on how hard it is to do. The main benefit of kara throws is it gives characters without command throws command throw type range. Jab Oicho already has very good range. Plus if you miss a kara throw with say, ken, typically youâll still get either a towards + forward or just a regular throw. If you miss with honda you could end up with a fierce oicho (very bad), low fierce (slightly less bad), or maybe an EX oicho.
