Retekin - Squ1ds comments are aimed at my vid lol.
Ok point by point - why back off at the start?
To give myself space and assess what sort of mood he is in - come forward or stay back. Why eat unecessary boom chip while I do it? I have the whole round to pressure him. There is no hurry (think about your 10-15 second rule later).
Why jump with equal life?
Because at the range he was, I knew an early mp would beat all his options - back fist looses to it at that range as does df.hk if the mp is early - it was a calculated risk to get some damage. Iāve tested how to beat Guiles anti airs for what seems like days now so I had a good idea if I stuck something out I would win or at least trade. If you are getting hit by backfist clean ever, it means you jumped from the wrong range, used the wrong move and with the wrong timing.
HK buttslam random?
Yes.
Why jump back and let him out with a huge lead?
Becasue he is a charge character and I had 50% lead and meter and could eat some clock. He was not closing space and I did not need to take chip, get pinned by booms or run the risk of his overhead mix ups/defending a throw. Sometimes continuing to press is not always the best course. He had to come to me to win and my life lead was good enough to dodge, absorb or simply block for the whole round if just sent out booms. I have lost plenty of games vs Guile by staying up close with a lead and only really top Guiles can come and take one back without taking any damage in return.
Could have backfisted again?
See above for the reason I used mp at that range and did not loose the exchange.
Jumps on flash kicks?
Agreed, was stupid.
Guile wake up?
I am generally too greedy on wake up - fair point.
Guile with U1?
I think your comments are a little over the top that he must be a scrub becasue he chooses that Ultra. Maybe its because I jump so much and he knows that from the games we play! Sometimes picking an Ultra might be about knowing your opponents patterns and weaknesses instead of what the rule book says!
Match should go to 10-15 seconds?
Sorry but you are theory fighting. The match ends when it does - could be 20 seconds in or 1 second left. I understand you are saying be patient, but to say a fight should end at a certain point is absurd.
Booms in training mode vs anti air vs s.hk?
I understand what happens, Iāve played this match to death. You did not answer my question - how do you win without not jumping period? - I still believe you canāt win on the ground against a good Guile in SSF4. A good Guile will win hands down - he has the best poke in the match called a sonic boom!
As you can see S1d, I completley see some of your points, but some I see as you giving a text book answer to a situation (the backfist thing for example). The other thing you have to bear in mind (which I have started to do), is some of these videos are between people who play against each other alot, who know each others styles and sometimes it makes for a match that does not look like it should all the time and you have to mix it up to win - play text book all the time and it gets predictable.
Your persistant use of scrub for this guy is a shame becasue this vid does not do him justice and the only guys who should have any right to call people scrub are the ones at the absolute top ones proven at the highest level (you and I donāt qualify). As for my overall tactics I used the exact same ones against a Guile who came top 4 in the last London event a couple of weeks ago (150 players) and won 3 of 3 in a short endless battle against him loosing only 1 round and used the same ones vs Dieminion when he was over in London and lost a first to 5 set 5-3 to him (not great, but not shameless). I still have stuff to work on, so thanks for pointing that out. Also post to my question about not jumping - I would much prefer to win without taking any risks, but think it is not possible vs a truely solid Guile.
