Honda Videos

I say all of honda players here on srk should bombard his videos, lol.

lmao now he blocked me from posting comments as well… lmao… he keeps all the good ones, and deletes anything negative, what a looser.

So I played Lamerboi on XBL … anyone know what at least trades with guiles d.f hk? I couldnt really advance to well cause of course his sb’s were just pewpewpew.

Early j.mp seems to beat it clean from my experience, but at a range where your mp hits near Guiles head. If Guile has time to get df.hk off though and get his spacing right, then you are jumping at the wrong time - it means he has had time to recover and think about what he is doing.

The key to beating guile is to not play him online! w/ lag and whatnot it makes it hard to react to his booms/pokes properly which will have you eatting punishes all day. Because online it is hard to walk forward slighty and then block w/o eatting a poke, Imo this match is 6-4 online and 5.5-4.5 offline. Some common mistakes I was making when first playing guile was trying to get him into the corner by constantly moving forward. This is not a good technique because it is very predictable. During this match you should be bobbing and weaving out of his poke range and punishing him w/ s. mp, s. hk, and cr. fp. Like SnK’s matchup guide says, s. mp beats out a crapton of his pokes at max range including sonic boom startup. Do not fall for his sonic boom crap! It does crap damage on block, and honda’s pokes hit hard. Once you have him in the corner he is at your mercy. Do not constantly apply pressure to him when he is the corner. Sit there, block his booms and make him whiff normals and punish accordingly. Walk up oicho him in the corner if he is hesitant, but make sure you do a lk. buttslam (tech if he blocks) on wake up to get him back in the corner. I would pick ultra 2 in this matchup just for the lk. buttslam mixup after oicho knockdown, but use the ultra to scare him more than anything. Oh yeah, most importantly DONT JUMP YOU FAT BASTARD!!!

Tyvm noted will try that, tbh most other guiles are standard but he is of course a top notch one lol

So I’m asking for help with the Abel match… That’s kinda why I posted the videos… Anything?

This is a video from an endless battle at the weekend. Action packed with some wreckless play thrown in for good measure. I get too greedy in the last, but manage to pull it back and I need to tone down the c.lk on every set of hands lol (although it does help me hit confirm something Super from a cross up).

A few things on the match up imo - jab hands to s.mp is a sound option as his hands are forward for a guranteed hit (s.hk whiffs on him often I find unless it is very meaty) and you don’t need to chase him all the time - take a breather, assess, look for patterns and then come again.

Enjoy!

^^
pretty solid match but that guile sucks :stuck_out_tongue: i play a couple times a week w/ dag and lamerboi and those jump ins would have gotten eaten alive. I wouldnt approach that match with those jumpins, that guile didnt use df rh (combo),backhand, neutral jumps to punish your jump ins. All he did was sonic boom hopkick :stuck_out_tongue: If you continue to play like that you may as well switch to ryu just spam shoryuken jump roundhouse cr. roundhouse combos… At least your execution was crisp

i got to play hav in ranked mr snk and i gotta say he is less aggressive then many of the abels i have fought in tournaments…but i think thats smart due to abel not being able to mix up as well with resets since you dont lose your down charge and him knowing a butt slam in the face could happen if he resets and pokes…what i do is knock them down and DF HK cancel into oicho a few times and since abel has no wakeup until he gets U2 jab hhs from a range that wont get you TT on wakeup, neutral jump fierce is great in this match and so is jab headbutt he cant really stop jump ins that well either in my experience and crossing up is always a good idea if he decides to U2 in your face jump forward its really another fei long matchup just slightly more you can get away with who is this abel that troubles you my child?

First off it’s It’s Abel, secondly You can’t Neutral jump in this match due to elbow trades and U2. And Overhead into Oicho hasn’t worked for me yet. I figured out what I have to do. Just dumb it down and play extremely simple.

firstly my jmp was beating his df hk clean - try it in training mode as df hk is not actually too great vs Honda and if you are loosing to it you are timing your jumps wrong.

Secondly I could show a load of vids where that guy air thows cross ups on wake up, df hk twice to flash kick, fadc to u2, corner pressure the crap out of me and generally makes my life hell so don’t be too quick to judge on one game.

If Abel decides to reversal non-ex command grab, that beats Ochio. He can beat it without meter. However, if you do meaty low forward canceled into hands, he’s forced to just block unless he has meter. Non-ex roll isn’t invincible on startup, so if he goes for reversal roll you get a combo. If he does anything else, well, he’s not blocking so who cares? With 25% meter he can ex roll or ex grab his way out, but with no meter you win for free. This obviously makes him want to block, which then leads to ochio, whatever. You see where this’s going.

Jab headbutt tends to get me counter hit when I use it against wheel kicks, so I’d recommend ex only for that.

Also, neutral jump jab beats elbow pretty clean. Keep that in mind. In fact, it’ll beat pretty much everything that beats push fierce. Chun’s low roundhouse, Cammy’s low fierce, Ryu’s stand roundhouse, etc. If you’re not neutral jabbing, give it a try.

I just didn’t see the point of you posting a video against a guile scrub (who u said was well known) and I wanted people who watched that video to know that those tactics will get you assraped. The only damage you landed on this guy was off of jumpins. I’ve shown many a video to snk and got lectured to death. But I always feel that it made me play better. I think the video of you getting owned by using those tactics would have been more beneficial. If you wanna beat guiles more consistantly you gotta play more patiently. Or maybe I’m just a hater…

The man ain’t lying, we been in those rooms with much better Guile’s and you’d be surprised on how far a little bit of patience goes.

Guys I will happily take your advice, but back it up with some hard evidence please and detailed breakdown (I won most of those jump in exchanges or traded, so what exactly was I doing wrong and why would I have lost to another player?). By the way in defence of the Guile player, when Dieminion was over here he had nothing but good things to say about that guy (probably going to hate on Dieminion now lol) - it was one game and he happened to get some stuff wrong, who does’nt. Play him if the connection is good, I’m sure you would be pleasantly surprised.

Anyway, on topic about the vid, the jumps and bad tactics. My main question is this - how do you beat Guile in SSf4 without jumping then? I mean super zoning Guile, no need to take a back step Guile, I’ll sit here and boom and build meter Guile and you can’t poke me Guile because of my boom shield and you can’t jump unwisely becasue I have amazing AA options. I think this match is unwinable on the ground for Honda now - just my opinion and from my own experience.

Please don’t just say corner him - he does not really need to go backwards in SSF4 and if the guys you are playing are doing that they don’t really need to. Also I hear these names - GEOM, Lamerboi…etc - post some vids of you beating them and how it’s done so I can see where I am going wrong - its much easier to see it done and learn from it imo.

Here’s a few of my matches against a Guile who’s solid. You’ll note I lose. I jumped too much and was punished for it; I also missed too many links and had other execution problems.

In a corner, if you do low jab at max range and cancel into fierce hands, if he jumps in any direction it’s free ex butt drop. So long as you’re patient and keep him in the corner, your damage output is higher than his, and you have good punishment options for his escape attempts.

Aww, the comment says I’m gutter trash. Oh well.

First thing you did in the match was back up. Why give up space when the entire match you are trying to push forward? I like the NJ fierce over the boom because this scrub guile didn?t try to close any distance and push forward after his boom. He just sat at full screen, no idea why. He shot another semi mid screen boom and you jumped towards him w/ mp. You should have just taken the chip and continue to press forward he could have backfist anti-aired you. Why risk taking a huge risk when you were both at full life? Then you block and do a HK buttslam. It?s a good thing it crossed up to, maybe you know it would… It looked random to me. I like the crossup after and follow w/ hands looked fine to me. But then out of nowhere?BAM! You jump backwards to avoid a sonic boom. I think a better option would have been to block in and keep him in the corner no? You have a huge life lead have guile cornered but then you let him out and give him a chance to zone you out again. So he starts shooting booms at you and you risk all that work you did for the life lead by jumping at him again (which he could have back-fisted.) I don?t even think if he shot booms at you for the rest of the round (80secs) and you blocked them he could have won. You forward jumped like 5 more booms and you are lucky he didn?t know which AA to use. I like the hands > st. MP thou, I need to use that more often. The second round starts and again he chooses to shoot SBs from full screen and not close distance after any of them. Trust me, he is a scrub. Then he does 2 random ass flashkicks WTF? The first one probably could have been punished w/ a headbutt or jab > hhs > super which would have got you the W. Then he rapes you with flash kicks because you insist on jumping in on him even when he has been crouching for ages. At the end of the round it was pretty much desperation time. I would have at least tried to go for an empty or towards jumping short kick, maybe even MK buttslam for a lucky ultra. Another thing I would recommend is that when approaching a guile who is knocked down, don?t throw out pokes while he is waking up. That is the only time he can punish you with flashkick. The only way to meaty guile is after an oicho, sumohug throw, or sweep. Also, any guile that picks ult1 vs Honda is out of his mind. If you want to beat guile IMO the match should go to around 10-15 seconds. Go to training mode and shoot sonic booms at honda, see how long it takes before the chip adds up to one guile anti-air. Then go to training mode and HK him. Even.

Yeah, this wasn’t exactly my best match. The point of posting was kinda to show a caveat for what happens when you jump too much. If you look at around 0:56, 1:23, 1:34, 1:49, etc, you can clearly see me getting anti air-d. I’m not saying Guile is the easiest matchup in the world if you don’t jump, I’m just posting “hard evidence” as to why you don’t want to jump in versus Guile a lot.

Obviously the jumpin comes down to a guess. You have to jump on occasion if the Guile is throwing sonic booms. If you know when he’s going to throw a sonic boom and you jump in before he does so, you’re reward with up to ~600 damage.

Hands to strong seems okay to me when you don’t want to push someone away as far with roundhouse. It’s a 3 frame link so it’s hard to miss, and it does pretty good damage (20 less than roundhouse[16 including scaling off of low jab]). Beyond that it’s actually super cancelable (but versus guile if you get 7 hits you’d low jab, hands, super cancel that for more damage but that’s neither here nor there) and at least to me a good deal easier to link than hands mashed out. But yeah, I generally go for roundhouse.

To be fair he says Honda is gutter trash.
I’d sit on the life lead and turtle it up.

dont worry arthur i think your honda is good  does anybody thing oiiega or umb1ae…whatever is good? cause i rape those guiles for free
