Honda Videos

I noticed in your first vid you used cl.p xx hhs, hhs with no super. Then when you had the super you didn’t hit confirm into super. But maybe you were trying to get the second hhs out but it didn’t go. I guess I would suggest if you dont have super just use s.rh instead because you’ll get more damage and I think it’s an easier link. But it seems like your Honda is pretty decent even though you just got back on the grind and those Ryu’s were crap. Well done

In the corner against Rufus you just need to block. Don’t try to do shit, eventually you’ll get an opening (Hoping he’ll do an EX Messiah or something stupid). If you think about it, the potential damage he can do from a throw vs. a hit confirm in the corner (into ultra), i would definitely take the throw.

Against Ryu you ate too many fireballs.

I also noticed that on your opponent’s wake up you’d almost ALWAYS try to hit with a low forward or low jab. It became a bit predictable. Mix it up a bit. Maybe you can walk back a bit and do a meaty far roundhouse. Maybe do a buttslam. Maybe do some gimmicky overhead trick. Maybe whiff a bunch of jabs and try to bait something. Maybe do nothing. Mix it up.

Your Honda’s pretty good, keep up the wonderful work. Your use of standing roundhouse is pretty good, but try exploring some of his other normals. Standing or low strong is one of my favorites. Stand fierce is also a normal i didn’t see used too often (it’ll stuff Abel’s wheel kick at the right distance and timing).

Keep it up!

apologies if this has been posted, but a great display of the fat man by akimo at gods garden.

Clutch HHS xx Super

Amazing throw teching

Jump back jab to stuff demon flips is new to me

lots of cr.lk>cr.lp xx HHS, im asuming this has advantage over cr.mk because its faster and has better priority? I need to learn either this or cr.mk xx HHS fast, i really need that initial low hitting move to connect a lot more HHS.

The cr.lk>cr.lp is a good option for those having trouble with cr.mk xx HHS, the link isn’t anywhere near as hard as cr.lk>cr.lk

For all you honda hard trial 5 lovers out there…

52-hit HHS corner rape. Ripped from nicovideo.

Thanks for input. I don’t really take online matches that seriously i like to just prac hands to hands so i can do it all the time. When i had super if you listen i was trying to get it out after hands hah just was not working out for me i usually nail it tho its almost my BnB if im not forced to use meter. I think ryu is the new ken hah

The god of HHS facing off against Japan’s ranked 7th Sagat Bonchan. Namameso is a fucking beast to give a GM sagat that much pressure.

Great play and yes very unlucky for namameso. His HHS pressure is amazing.

After watching this, im grateful i can at least pressure Sagat’s i face with a headbutt or two without eating kara TU.

Thats just not the case here, Namameso has great spacing and footsies, just unfortunate that the match up is heavily in that bastards favour.

Another one Namameso vs Ac Revenger. I like this one because I hate Abel and his annoying noises

Namameso vs. Beah good to see a Rufus lose.

I counted a total of 14 c.lp xx fp hhs’s in one match. Shit’s crazy

isn’t that pretty normal for a 3 round sagat match?

I counted 13… not including the ex hands

uh isnt that what your suppost to do lol but you would think that he had a super / Ultra at end of rnd 2 that he was good to turtle and wait for the opening in fact it he had a few shots to get them off imo, you know the Sagat is going to throw a TS at least once cuz he really has nothing to get you out of his sweep distance.

This is something im guilty of , once I got HHS happy I forgot about his other great things like the ULTRA. Someone actually pointed it out to me once that I had a perfect time to Ultra but instead I jump in MP c.lp HHS which did less and I lost for it.

I included the ex hands.

Just cause you’re supposed to hhs all day, doesn’t mean you really get the chance to. Most sagat’s will push a honda out of range with low tiger shots easily. When this happens, most honda’s will start jumping incorrectly and get destroyed. I’m not even going to go into detail about kara tiger shot, but the shit is duuumb.

To be able to not jump stupidly, do 13 landed hhs’s and not use unsafe headbutts is pretty amazing. Also, even with super and ultra, sagat can just go to max range and throw tigers all day, slowly chipping you to death. Super doesn’t go full screen and ultra cannot reliably punish 3/4 screen tiger shots (we’re talkin about split second differences that’ll get you reversal ultra’d). Bonchan could also throw an unsafe tiger shot and backdash to bait.

The whole eagle eye obsession will usually get you owned in the long run cause you spend too much time fishing for it and it ends up causing bad positioning. I haven’t seen any of the master/gm honda’s as of late (4+ months now), punish a bad hadouken or tiger shot. Only thing I saw was Umeso punish was a kikoken from Nuki at SBO. When you’re really good, you just don’t make dumb mistakes like mid-screen projectiles.

full screen supers work

I’m almost positive super’s pursuit property prevents it from going fullscreen on the first hit. I’ll test it when I get home or somebody else test it while I’m at work.

any reason why he wasn’t c.mk xx hhs after the j.rh jump-ins, other than “nah he probably didn’t feel like it” explanation?

(fishing/playing devil advocate)

i never see any japanese hondas do it.

(except for like a really old akimo video or something where he does it like once)

i’ve been wondering about this for a long time too.

After watching some Akimo videos I became curious as to why he loves the MK > Headbutt so much. It used to be a big part of my game until I gained consistency with my MK > HHS. Now I rarely throw it out. What is the advantage of the MK > Headbutt?

I think it’s completely a matter of range. I find myself in many punish/combo opportunities where I’m not/can’t get close enough for a full hands combo (getting the post rh…etc…), but I am in c.mk range with charge. From watching Akimo, these are the times that it seems he opts for that c.mk xx HB instead of hands combos. If you cant get the rh followup (atleast) then you just wasted potential damage, since c.mk xx HB would have done more.

I am guilty of this mistake and I’ve been meaning to work c.mk xx HB into my game more. Ever since I got HHS combos down, I’ve gone to them naturally, but not always when I should.

A couple examples of what I mean:

  1. You land a jump in at such a range that you can’t complete a hands combo, but you are in range for a c.mk.

  2. You bait Ryu’s dp and walk back out of range (so he can’t FADC), but Ryu does a jab dp. You dont have time to walk back in and punish with c.lp xx HHS, so you take the c.mk xx HB. I see alot of Hondas punish with just s.rh in this situation, when they clearly have charge.

This is what I’ve come up with since I’ve been wondering the same thing about Akimo’s vids, lately.

Gotta agree with everything rick said. Also, Akimo uses jumping strong a ton making linking a crouching mk on hit or block, much more difficult then c.lp. But really, it’s all just what jump-in and what range.
