So how the hell does Juri’s J. RH beat EX Headbutt?
So simple yet so effective! Great tip here, thanks.
It’ll stuff it out if you time your headbutt wrong. You just have to wait until she throws it out early or when she gets closer to honda’s head while he is standing.
In fact, this is true for many trouble jump-ins (Balrog diagonal jump roundhouse comes to mind). The later you do the headbutt the better. Same is true for lp. hb.
This used to give me FITS.
Can’t figure out what to do against good turtle bisons (dictator). I can’t seem to get the life lead. As soon as I try to move forward to get into low jab range or jab headbutt range, here comes short scissor kicks to knock me back, and if I block them I’m no better off, bison gains considerable ground and I can’t push him to the corner. Jumping means trading strong with his roundhouse at best, which seems about even. Of course if I try to turtle, he’ll cross me up or work his way in to land a blocked short scissor kicks, then it’s turtle away. Any tips out there? Both of Honda’s ultras seem pretty bad against bison.
yo, real talk, i hate that matchup too. From either character standpoint it sucks, the first person to jump loses for sure. good bisons will walk back outta your j.hb range, and they for sure wanna stay outta cr.lp range and as soon as you press forward or whiff a normal you eat s. hk or lk scissors all day. The hole that I find in most dictators game though is after you block a scissor kick. They know they’re -2 and honda can’t punish it (i dont even think he’s in range for U2 when you block it deep, but I may be mistaken). But like most people, they know they’re “safe” so you can probably expect a cr. lk/ lk scissors/ s. rh after. But it doesn’t really matter anyway because 99% of people are retarded and just press buttons because it worked in the past and they dont realize that they’re still negative in frames. anyway, my point here is the math, he’s -2 with a 3 frame cr. lk, we have a 4 frame cr. lp, so after blocked scissors and both characters get their reversal cr. normal, honda is still +1. This means c.h. cr.lp xx hhs for 4-5 hits I believe (not full damage, but you’re still safe on hit or block). Also that setup only works when you block both hits of the scissors, if you only block one the jab’s gonna whiff and you’re probably gonna eat that s. hk.
other notes:
Get good and ex hb’ing all headstomps
fierce hb all whiffed devil’s reverse even from full screen, that shit’s free in ssf4
I think U1 is much better in this matchup, just cause you can aa that high jumping fool all day, and you can ultra headstomps and D.R.
if you have meter, make damn sure you AA him everytime! Stop all his BS before it starts
This is just one of those matchups, that if your opponent is smart, can be a total bitch. Just Make sure you punish EVERYTHING (whiffed s. hk, teleport, whiffed scissors, blocked psycho’s, blah blah blah…)and it becomes a lot easier
The best thing I can tell you is to wait for him to fuck up them punish that. You can ex. hb in between the scissor kick trap. That will make them hesitate to do it again and if they stop, you can jab hands for chip damage and keep the life lead if you have it. If you put him in the corner, make sure you keep enough space so if he ex psycho crusher, you can punish it when he recovers. Make sure not to jump in so much. I say the biggest problem against bison would be his s.rh. That kick alone is a challenge to get by. It is to fast and you can’t punish on block. Try to make him whiff it and punish with s.rh. And with what Destruct1ve said, make sure to punish headstop and all jump ins with lp.hb ex hb.
That’s all I have on that match up. Hope it helps.
FP.HHS ~ FP.HHS doesn’t work on Rose? I had a Rose dummy in training and I could not get the link out of about 30 tries, switched it to a c. viper and got it immediately.
FP HHS doesn’t hit Rose properly. As you probably could notice, you get one less hit than usual (the last one). Pretty much the same with Sakura and I think Fei Long. Any other characters?
EDIT: Used mp hhs on those characters. It can have some range issues in some situations but at least it reliable on those characters if you know it.
Thanks for the tips, I guess it’s just a painful matchup. The bison that beat me really bad always back dashed after a blocked scissor kick, and wouldn’t throw them out unless I try to move forward surrendering my back charge.
i treat bison like i do akuma except jumping in with RH will trade with his st RH and its not the worst trade ever…on bisons wakeup jab hhs, his U2 on wakeup will not punish a whiffed jab and if he does nothing but teleport on wakeup or even backdash after a blocked scissor kick why not headbutt?
Ugh just lost the grand finals of my local weekly ranbat to a Guile. Not an amazing Guile by any means, but the character is just too good. Unpunishable sonic booms + cr.HP (godlike AA?) = rape.
has anyone figured out what spacing is required for ex/jab hb to be punishable by certain characters? abel’s breathless in particular… no pattern I can discern that makes it work (and not), even with stand block.
How do I stop Ibuki’s vortex. I lost tourney match because i never got caught in it before. It there some wierd cross up properties or something?
Yeah I am having problems with Ibuki as well, talking with a pretty good ibuki player, he told me that its really easy to keep honda in a vortex because of how big he is =/
against ibuki you have to be patient, and on your wakeup, dont try and reversal unless you know they left you a hole to get out. Its like playing akuma… block and tech and if they do something stupid like jump back kunai , U1
the vortex is just like rufus’ dive kick you have to know whether the kunai will be a cross up or not and the rest will be blocked no problem i played buktooths ibuki and ya i got hit by the first few vortex setups he did but caught on and it was smooth sailing from there
Any good Balrog advice aside from land a hit, get an ex bar and hold down back?
bait dash punches with focus, they’ll probably try to do the breaking punch, block that shit and jab xx hhs
Lemme take a crack at this.
-
When spaced right Counter hit his Dash punches with Jesus Chop, you end up hitting the box on his glove and he eats a free 16o damage.
-
If you score a knock-down keep the pressure on him and try to force some mistakes on his part, this match is unfortunately about getting the life lead and defending yourself.
-
On any of Rogs attempts to Overhead just inch up and throw him out of it.
-
If you have the pressure going ride it out and build up as much meter as possible while forcing rog to the corner, in all honesty there isn’t much he can do to get out that you can’t react to. Just don’t be retarded and eat Ultra.
-
Stay patient.
-
Don’t be afraid to block a few of his jump-ins til he gets comfortable with it then U1 him at the peak of his jump.
hope that helps.
Also Vs Ibuki, I feel the fight is just like playing ELF, you need to keep that fucker out as much as possible and if she get’s the knockdown block and tech your asshole off to try and reset the match.
