Please can someone tell me how to do the ex butt slam to ultra that the commentators were talking about in the first Video (Mr. SNK vs the Yang player)?
Thanks in advance.
Can only be done in the corner. I also think it only works when you hit them with buttslam on the way down. Make sure you donât lose your back charge when doing buttslam.

make sure you have charge by doing like boxerâs headbutt to ultra - do down, up-back + kk or even just k
Thanks a lot for the quick responses guys. Happy slapping
I played Honda in SF4 since vanilla till now and have massive problems with Dhalsim and Chun. For these 2 matchups you must be super patient and wait for the one chance to deal big damage. As for Sagat, this match is insane as many know how to punish headbutts on block now with a hk forward tiger uppercut. Itâs tiring to play Honda but fun.
For chun and sim I donât play that shit patient at all. I used to and realized Iâm wasting time. Just do whatever you can to get in and make them scared.
Seth and Akuma are the worst matchups in the game hands down.
I agree with the above, charcaters like chun, guile, sim you need to get in there and be agressive, scare them into making mistakes, playing patient and waiting for the mistake wont get u anywhere imo, in other words buttslam.
I dont mind seth in this version of the game, akuma is a complete pain tho, honda has no working strategy in that match.
Hello fellow Honda players. This is my first post on SRK and I was wondering if someone could go through the trouble of revising Hondaâs matchupâs to account for the 2012 changes. Thank you.
Not much has changed matchup wise. The akuma matchup got worst thats all I can think of off hand.
Stev0 what do you do vs seth? We have a local seth player (zaith in case you have seen him on xbox live) who knows the matchup too well and I feel so powerless. I think our finals was archived from saturday iâll post it up if they did. I lost 2-1 in winners and 3-1 in grand
yang and yun got easier, honda-yang now feels like a 7-3 - all you need to do is sit back. I havenât faced many good goukens but I think he can now punish headbutts with u2 (and swirling the stick).
Thanks for the tips. I always felt that the twins were pretty easy for Honda. On a side note, some Gouken tried to convince me that the matchup is even with Honda. I was like, âwait wut?â, but nevertheless, that matchup has always been tough for me :(.
Honda v Gouken gets kinda funny when you get on their head instead of the other way around. Like doing risky headbutts instead of jumping if you usually jump at certain ranges for fireballs. Usually Goukens try to AA me with angled fireballs at those ranges and it really rattles them when you get off a headbutt like that.
That said, its still an ass matchup.

Iâm getting swayed by the notion of being an aggressive honda is effective nowadays. Watching SNK and Stev0âs videos really helped me see the possibilities of pressing the opponent hard lol.
P.S. I hate Honda mirror matches especially those that spam stuff all the time and get lost in those mini mindgames they have itâs like all the smart stuff is sucked away from me and I donât know what to do lol. I lose a ton actually and I hate to admit Iâm being schooled by spammers when I think I play Honda real well boooooo I guess I need to play more mirror matches.
P.S.S. When I hit Ultra 1 after it finishes I immediately do crouching LP and then jump forward and do a late jumping MK. I tend to hit reversals a lot and they eat a combo though I put myself in the corner I mostly do this when after the Ultra they only have a little bit of life left. Is this a safejump setup lol or they just time their reversals wrong.
You know what they say, the matchup you play the least is the mirror >.>. After watching SNK and Stev0âs videos, I learned something about my playstyle; that I jump too much. I donât play a ground game with Honda enough, so Iâm starting to simply hold forward instead of taking to the sky. Also, I started utilizing frame traps, which I have found catches quite a lot of people :p.
cl.mk
I donât think anyone knows about this hidden gem on wakeups.
What makes cl.mk so good on wakeups? Also, you all seem like much better Honda players than myself, so if any of you would be kind enough to maybe play a set with me (XBL) to help my game, that would be very appreciated. My GT is DoNotRecesitate (yeah I know itâs dumb, but I didnât get to pick it, gonna change it soon to my name here). Thanks.
Hi.
I just got trolled pretty hard by an ass Honda player. It was basically a butt slam bonanza, and I wasnât sure how to get out of it without being counter hit by a lk.slam. In fairness, I was playing Yang who I am unfamiliar with in this match-up (if I was playing Makoto, Iâd just fuki out, no problem) but with Yang I was clueless.
Can anyone point out the general weakness for buttslam on block? Like, what to do after a HK/LK version?
Canât you just sweep after a blocked slam? Dunno how Yang works, but most chars can punish buttlslam with sweep
It kind of depends. All versions of buttslam are -2 on block if you block both hits, except the HK version which is -3. This means that if you block the second hit, all but the HK version are basically safe, with the notable exceptions of SPDs, 720s, and Ryuâs Super. However, you donât usually have to block the second hit. If the rising hit gets blocked or whiffs, you can focus absorb Honda on his way down for a crumple (just watch out for crossup hits), or use attacks like Fei Long cl.HP, Guile cr.HP, Ryu cr.MP, etc to beat the downwards hit.
If the second hit whiffs, you can generally just hit Honda with whatever you want.
