Need some help in the Akuma MU. Something very very specific because otherwise skill being equal, its more or less a 5-5 match for me.
On KD’s… the Palm/Empty palm OS EX DP/cr.jab. Completely shut downs reversals and backdashes forcing you to block and end up in frame trap mixups.
Is there a sure fire way to deal with this if you know its coming? Could be something real simple, just failing to see it. Typical shoto tactic to empty jump dp to blow up HB’s, but here he is covering so many of your escape routes with the OS.
St fierce AA is excellent against adon, both against jagaur kicks and his normal jumpins.
After blocking a blocking an off the wall (all versions are minus on block i believe) i like to just walk back, it puts you out of his throw range and if he jumps u can AA with st fierce and or ex headbut.
St/Cr Mp will also beat jaguar kicks and is a bit easier to do on reaction.
NJ fierce/Rh really shuts down all adons bullshit.
Adons NJ RH os shuts down all honda reversals in the corner so dont be stupid and end up dizzied. Its somewhat like being trapped in corner vs makoto the absloute worst thing u can do is try jump away from the jaguar kick neutral jump pressure, you have to just block smart and counter him when u get the chance.
Mk and Ex buttslam will beat all jaguar kicks clean if done late enough. (doesnt have to as deep for ex as it has better inviceability)
Adon is a complete annoyance but honda still has the tools to shut him down.
can’t confirm or deny a change but sometimes I’ll accidentally get a headbutt trying to s.hp something and it will beat the jump-in, iirc fierce headbutt has the shortest start up of the non-ex headbutts so maybe it can be useful? I don’t know.
Holy shit I thought it was a timing fluke or a trolling attempt, but yeah, maybe a just frame upper body invincibility? Don’t really think so… Or maybe they added a little height to the headbutt startup hitbox? Maybe, just maybe, since honda’s hitbox doesn’t have those ugly green squares anymore and they follow his body’s posture more closely it’s just that at the startup of the move honda’s head does this back and forth thing? I can’t test shit right now since I don’t have the game but I will do it on friday… here’s hoping something has changed! Or perhaps it always worked that way and we didn’t know because of LP headbutt? Dang, I’ve got to finish that hitbox pic thread! (worst part is that the pics are done and already uploaded since last year, I only have to link them but the unblockables made me lose focus…) Motivation +1!
All good, except the nj fierce, Adon likes to tiger knee it.
As dumb as it sounds, I just discovered that jaguar kicks aren’t overhead I didn’t figure it before because in SSF4 I used to react with lp hb.
I used to anti air with fierce hb at Vanilla before I read about lp immunity and it worked half the time, so Im sure is the same now, specially since I got back to use it when out of ex.
yeah i agree with most the jump mp to stuff things is still good but not as good. I have no problem jumping back with life lead and siting on meter. hahaha ill lame it out all day lol
His “hitbox was raised slightly”, which means it’s better as an air to air attack(I guess) but worst as an air to ground attack(because it trades/gets beaten more). I haven’t really played the game that much but I noticed the last part.
I’m having a problem punishing Yun’s upkicks with U2. I think the side switch makes it nearly impossible to punish with U2. HK kicks is alright since you need to dash anyway to punish it, but I have a near zero success rate against EX upkicks. Any advice on how to do it consistantly?
Also, anyone have a good reason to take U1 against the twins?
I stick with U1 to stop lame palm shenanigans. It counts as a projectile afterall. With the startup delay of U2, I have absolutely no idea why you’d use it on jumpy twins though tbh.
I normally take U2 as a threat against high dive kicks. Common situation is you are knocked down, they go for a high crossup dive that you cant reversal. In theory that should be an easy U2, but I will honestly say I don’t land it often.
I find there’s literally no way to land U1 on mak and there’s a few situations where you can score a focus crumple on her. Vega, well at least the majority of them I play, love to non ex wall dive and it gets focus crumpled for free. I played tatsu last year and he showed me why its not good to focus on wall dives, but I’ve yet to run into a vega player who knew the honda matchup. At first I did use U2 vs yang because just like makoto it’s pretty hard to land U1 until I realized some of those dive kicks players throw out are not safe.
Hey, what’s up guys, today I had my first tournament experience and I personally did pretty well. (got 8th place)
I know perfectly well how to handle the match and keep my own on most of the cast members, but I’m seriously having big time problems with Yun and no one else besides Yun. I’m just getting torn apart when he’s inside, and I can’t block his dive kicks forever and block his throws all the time, at some point I crack and he gets his combo chance (followed by genei Jin if he’s got the meter.)
I don’t want to come over like a random Yun hater, but do you guys have some serious tips that can help me out against him.
Pork chopping Yang does wonders against him, so he’s no problem for me, but Yun’s dive kicks just goes too fast.
Any solid tips besides running away and letting Yun build his meter for Genei Jin in offline mode?
Online mode Yun is a totally different approach btw. In online mode I try to pressure as much as possible when I’ve got the chance…
You gotta keep him from getting in that ambigous dive kick range, kinda like the yang match up. Don’t be afraid to let that EX HB fly once he gets in, it makes yun think 2x about trying to mix up honda.
if only the camera man wasn’t so easily distracted you could see this match better. I thought ross did a pretty good job vs marn, looked like marn was a bit nervous going deeper into the match after he ate some ex hbs. I know there’s some other ross vs yun matches around. I haven’t really seen anyone play vs good yuns besides mike yet.
edit: looks like lord dvd put up some matches vs a yun, haven’t seen all of them yet but you can get an idea of what to do or try from watching the matches
