nice to hear from you haitian, u2 is 2 frames and the hhs nerf is ALL speculation, jab might be faster hhs might cancel slower or the 5 inputs needs to be lightning fast. These are a few of the rumors ppl started

For serious, I was canceling jab into hands with no issues whatsoever. I did it fast, I did it slow, same rates that I do on console, itā€™s just as easy. I was able to whiff jab into empty hands with the same 5 button presses as I do now.

as mr. snk said, looks like weā€™ll need to implement those ex hands combos from now on to make up for the damage nerfs.

Use EX hands ? HHS was so good because it was meterless. You can spam it and lose nothing cus its safe on block and it doesnā€™t cost meter.Not only you didnā€™t lose anything, you gained meter.

It would be a huge waste to lose EX bar if your EX HHS gets blocked. Thatā€™s one less EX headbutt.What makes this even worst is that you need your EX headbutt more then ever since the lp headbutt was nerfed as AA.

This is why youā€™re losing. Period. I can understand that you like to rush down, but you canā€™t just arbitrarily decide that match ups should be played in a way that suits your play style. Would you approach a Zangief player? Of course not. Then why would you approach Rufus? Heā€™s just as dangerous when he gets in, maybe even more so. Youā€™re giving him a chance to do what heā€™s best at for free.

Farm meter in this match up. Cr. jab xx HHS, HHS, walk up cr. jab xx HHS, st. RH should build you close to a full stock. Rufus canā€™t really do a whole lot against pressure strings in the first round, so itā€™s a good time to build meter.

Rufusā€™ forward throw actually does 150 damage, and it sets up safe jumps and ambiguous dive kicks. So youā€™re actually putting yourself in a worse situation by not trying to tech throws; Iā€™d rather deal with dive kick mix ups while standing than having to guess while on my back. Honda is free on wake up to Rufus.

And you donā€™t always have the luxury of losing several matches to Rufus first before figuring out his patterns. You have to take risks on defense or else heā€™ll overwhelm you. I like the calculated use of LK Butt Slam and EX Headbutt in this match up. Donā€™t just throw them out the second you have a chance; LK Butt Slam will beat instant dive kicks and throws, EX Headbutt will beat pressure strings after dive kicks. You have to anticipate what heā€™s going to do, you have to think actively. Once he starts trying to bait you, youā€™re at an advantage; itā€™s easier to get out on defense when your opponent is respecting reversals.

Yeah I suspect Capcom wants us to us ex hands for punishes. If they lowered the start up on standing jab then its now what, a 2 frame link? Not too bad. I just wonder how far c. mk > ex hhs > jab > hhs > st.rh will actually get us.

Unfortunately not man. EX HHS is +4 on hit. Standing jab has 6F of start up in Super, and I imagine itā€™s no faster than 4F in AE. That would make it as fast as cr. jab, so weā€™re not any better off in that regard.

You make some good points, I guess we just go about the matchup in different ways. I try to strike a balance between blocking any divekick mixups and using ex headbutt as a reversal to make the rufus always second guess himself when heā€™s up close.

for rufus matchup - maybe this will help - my approach to rufus - well, I dash hands alot, that always seems to help in certain matchups where you want to stay to the ground - I know that helped me alot here and not all Hondas like doing that

idk iā€™ve done 75% combos on viperā€¦with a jump in and a superā€¦but regardless thats alot of fucking damage the nerf is going to allow us to turtle more and jump less with mp being nerfed to shit apparently. Jab hb needs to find a new use and iā€™ll be happy

No shame in losing to Mosh, he was considered a ā€œchild prodigyā€ here in Toronto back in 2009. The first tournament he ever went to, he won. Second tournament he ever went to, he won, beating JS Master in the grand finals. Mind you JS Master wasnā€™t as good then as he is now, but he still dominated vanilla in Toronto.

The vast majority of his SF4 experience came from online play. SF4 was also the first fighting game he played competitvely. I lot of people hated him back then, and his cousins and brothers, who would show up to these events and get hype. :lol:

Has no one tried to use lp hb to bait throws, etc. yet? I thought that thatā€™s what everyone figured it was going to be good for, but no reports of it workingā€¦ Kinda wish there were arcades still around DCā€¦

Itā€™s still throwable on start up and he can also get jabbed out of it now. Itā€™s good for sailing over low attacks and maybe trading with some pokes.

I really like your use of focus attacks against predictable dive kicks, thatā€™s something I will definitely incorporate into my game. Honda is at +3 after a blocked level 2 FA; that means if Rufus EX Messiahs, cr. jab will recover in time. If he tries to poke or dive kick, heā€™ll get tagged.
