you can’t get the level 2 in time, but the key is to dash towards her and oichio/c.lpxxhands, it’s really tricky and hard to do after she does a blockstring but with enough practice I can’t see why you couldn’t punish her for it every time.
if you’re really lazy you can just hit her with a level 1 for like 80 or so damage and dash back or forward, but I think she can punish those, not sure.
so long as the honda nerfs aren’t retarded, him getting a damage tone-down is more helpful to us than our nerfs are to him - taking less damage getting in means a lot.
So I know most people aren’t having too much trouble against Hakan, but I think it’s worth noting that Hakan’s jf.rh U2 OS beats everything honda can do on wakeup. U2, U1, Super, EX HB, Buttslam, Backdash etc. However, if the OS is done off a neutral jump mid-screen you should be able to backdash it.

Don’t let this post interrupt any guile hate, though. Seriously, fuck that guy.
does anyone have any un-obvious specifics for vs. viper?
I feel like this match is either A. I random him out by headbutting through strings/air-to-air MP/HP and general jackass play/lucky guessing or B. Combo video, unlucky guessing, dead.
Meaties and safe jumps kill Viper. Her HP Thunder Knuckle has 8 frames of start up, making it very easy to safe jump. Meaty cr. jabs will trade with HP Thunder Knuckles, but they only do like 70 damage while your cr. jabs do 40 (55 because of counterhit?). I’ll take those trades all day and just bait it out next time when they get comfortable.
There are so many ranges to be aware of in this match up that it gets kind of daunting. I like to situate myself outside of her cr. forward range. That way I can jab it in footsies, stuff her MP Thunder Knuckles, react to Burning Kicks/random jumps and jump in myself if she’s looking to Seismo. Turtling full screen works too, of course. I’d like to hear input from other players on this aspect of the match up.
Hands pressure kills Viper too, especially Hands > Hands. She can’t deal with it reliably.
I like to shut down a Viper’s reversal game first and foremost, because from my experience, Viper players are looking to throw out more reversals than any other character. Burn Kicks during pressure strings, HP Thunder Knuckle, EX Seismo, EX Burn, etc. When you condition them into thinking it’s a bad idea, that’s when you throw in the Ochios, which set up nicely for meaty jabs.
This is a personal preference, but I always farm for super in this match up. It hurts her a lot. I’m fairly proficient at blocking her craziness, I play the match up all the time.
She has virtually no answer for a well timed j. MP. It will bypass the hitbox of her HP Thunder Knuckle and hit her in the back of the head. It will also keep her grounded if you do it right. No wonder they’re nerfing it, it’s a ridiculous move lol.
how can HHS feel slower? that doesn’t mean anything
EX headbutt means nothing unless you’re doing it full screen for some reason
Yang’s U1 must be pretty quick, interesting
they are completely nurfing honda now its sad to see this… i still will play him but its just going to hard now i think even more so than it was in vanilla
