Question for u good honda players: what do u do in the training room?
I can do all his useful combos pretty well and I know a few setups but I know I’m not getting as much as I could from time spent practicing. Any tips?

Anyone else find themselves not ending hands combos in rh any-more, much more often I’ll just do another hands, cr lp hands, walk up oicho or maybe mp headbut to beat a mashed low or backdash. Obviously rh gets more damage but it leaves honda at -3 after it lands and just kills all momentum.
I do like to do rh after blocked hands though as it catches people who are holding up back.
Another thing I see a lot is hondas whiffing oicho after landing a headbut, imo honda builds enough meter that u dont need to give the opponent the advantage in the neutral game by not taking space on the screen.
Very often if you just walk forward the opposing character will wakeup dash forward which you can react to and hit. Cammy’s and Fei’s in particular are very likely to dash forward on wakeup in this situation.
I think doing hands after hands is not worthy. You get less damage than doing HK, and it’s also unsafe, since you whiff the last 2 hits.
But I’m curious about cr LP-Hands-cr Lp Hands - how much damage does compared to finnishing with HK ? If it does full damage it should be 250, but I think it also whiffs some hits. Anybody knows more exactly what the deal with this combo ?
Quick question about cr.LP xx HHS HP combo… I’m a beginner with Honda and I just physically can’t do LP MP HP LP HP. So I tried the other version LP HP MP LP HP but HHS won’t come out, like…Ever. I don’t get it because my inputs are clean and I think I’m doing it pretty fast so what gives ?
.
I do my hands that way as well and don’t have trouble getting them, maybe you are doing them just a tad too slow.
First word is - practice. Pianoing hands is not an easy technique, takes time. It took me months of practice to get a hang of it. You need to have a certain…“rhythm” in order to do hands, the inputs are also very fast. There is a sticky thread with a Hands tutorial from Mr.Snk, a good place to start. You can also find many other videos on youtube.
If you just can’t piano, there is also another technique, sliding.
But for now just keep trying, and don’t get discouraged. In time, it will come out.
Sliding isn’t compatible with my TE anyway, buttons aren’t sensitive enough. So yeah I guess I’ll just have to be quicker. Thanks.
one note about lp xx HHS (whether crouching or not) its an option select- meaning if you do it fast enough, then just a jab should come out on whiff. so make sure you are practicing while hitting the dummy.
you can try my method of HHS i have never seen anyone else do it and i honestly find it 1000000x easier than anyone else’s, you go lp mp lp mp hp, index middle index middle ring. i never miss an HHS. i can do the other methods but i tend to hit EX hands by mistake a lot, which brings me to my next point. i dont know how you guys do your EX HHS, but i have found the simplest way is HP, MP, LP, LP+MP, LP+MP (I dont use it unless it follows a FP HHS) i used to do it kind of the opposite lp mp hp mp+hp mp+hp but i find your hand naturally rolls better the other way. i seem to never miss the jab-hhs-exhhs-hhs combo anymore.
depends on the situation, against Dhalsim I never both with the oicho whiff because his wakeup options are horrible and i like to keep pressure on him cause hes so hard to get in on in the first place. anyone with bad wakeup options i find its better to close the gap but i dont really like going in on shotos on wakeup. sometimes i do but its really 5050 i have to get a good read on the player, anyone whos decent can react in time and its just not worth it. that is a good call though a lot of people like to dash on wakeup i started doing it to my friend in casuals before because he was taking advantage of my constant oicho whiff.
i just started trying out these triple hands combos in training mode and I am struggling. Does anyone have any tips to get hands into hands consistently whether with a jab first or just heavy hands into heavy hands?<br>

I have almost the same question as the above guy. I’m working on jab --> H Hands --> H Hands -->Super. I rarely ever get the 2nd 100 hands to combo. How do most people input the 2nd 100 hand slap? Do you piano it again after the first one or is their an easier way where u can just mash H?
I think it’s character dependent?
I never use HHS HHS, only jabxxExHHs>jabxxHHS (ExHHS>jabxxHHS if i’m feeling lucky)
I’m sure it may be character dependent. It still seems like it works on a large part of the cast if you start close to them. I’m more concerned with the input process for the 2nd Heavy Hands.
Regarding Hands-Hands link - the way I do it is I piano cr jab-hands (cr lp-hp-mp-lp-hp) and then while the first hands is still active, I start pianoing the 2nd set of hands.
One thing to notice - this link is a 2 frames link, so is much harder then hands-hk or hands-cr jab-hands. The timing is quite strict, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work easily.
cr jab hands-hands should work on almost every character, but normally is not worthy, since the 2nd hands misses some hits, so you get significantly less dmg than cr jab-hands-hk. Considering is also much more difficult, it’s not worthy in my oppinion.
It’s still worth learning though, for cr jab-hands-hands-Super, which is really good, and for triple hands combos that works on a couple of characters.
I was reading through the combos and I didn’t see crLP xx HHS walk forward crLP xx HHS.
worked on Balrog and Gouken and possibly other wide characters, does less damage then the standard BnB but builds more meter.
AWESOME WORK HERE GUYS!
Thanks Ugo. I will check the combo and see who is working on.
I’m a lurker here in the honda forums, practicing the safejumps, combos and whatnot.
And I just wanted to say thank you all for these character specific combos.
Besides the cr.mk after HHS combos, I’ve also started to implement the lifesaver ones (LP/cr.LP xx H. Hands - EX Splash, cr LP xx M Hands - cr MK xx Ex HB. or cr. LP xx H. Hands - MP xx Super)
Also this works, on Vega while he crouches, but it only works from a jumpin, the following to be exact j.HK, j.MK, J.LK and j.LP for some reason.
cr LP xx M. Hands - cr. MK xx HP Hb
Anyone has an explanation for this?
I posted about this near the top of this page. The summary is this:
On another note, I’ve finally found a way to do the jab after EX Hands that I like using back-plinking…I set the KKK button to jab, and swap back/select to PPP, then during EX Hands, move my hand over to plink jab with select then quickly slide across LP MP HP. I’ve finally started to hit EX Hands combos consistently in offline matches. Hopefully gonna take my 400 damage combos to Canada Cup in a week.
Wait, but if you set KKK button to jab, where do you asign jab ? I’m trying to figure how to do this configuration, since it seems interesting.
Btw, good luck at CC.
