Honda 2012 Change Discussion

The change to mp headbut is interesting. It has 9 frame startup and the first 10 frames are now projectile invinceable, i can only assume that from certain ranges this means honda can time it to punish fireballs.
It will really help the Sagat match imo since now punishing low tigers is easier than ever.

Dissapointed we didnt get U2 back…

Good buffs for the sumo… but the “problem” is that the most of the others received even better buffs! :stuck_out_tongue: (why Balrog and Bison received a damage increase, while Honda’s st.HP remained ridicolously underpowered?!)

The headbutt changes are ridiculous lol. Hhs x3 worked on dj as well, and those are some interesting theories arthur. Using cr.mk ex hhs is fine as a sure punish but honda is rarely punishing or hitting close fierce so its jewelman combo or bust. Either way honda is winning tournaments

Maybe with the final hitbox of HHS forward, it will be generally safer on block? i.e. perhaps some of the characters who can just do stuff if hands isn’t blocked from point blank won’t be able to punish it any more. That would be pretty neat.

Just a heads up:

(Honda could always walk back a bit, s.HP the EX PC from full screen or c.LP it and I guess that in 2012 he could also LP headbutt it so… headstomp nerf is interesting to hear)

mmmhh… it sounds me strange that could be any “secret” change. The blog listed all the changes (at least, they said so!)… I’ll wait some more authoritative confirmations…

Seth’s not making things any easier…

Hi guys, look at what happens at the end of this match:

Ultra I beats Metsu Shoryuken. Try to replicate this in training mode in the current version and Metsu Shoryuken will win every time. What did they change? Ultra I invincibility? Metsu’s startup? Or maybe it’s that weird change they reported as “KO possible even when first hit is a double hit”. Was that a trade and then Honda won because Ryu had almost zero health? WTF is this? A bug? XD

Im sure that happened to me once or twice in Super. I alway though that ultra had very short inviciblity.

That ultra happened because of the invincible startup frames on his ultra. Also, I think due to the fact that ryu had very little health it hit therefore causing the K.O.

Also, I think i’ll still be using EX headbutt as an AA in 2012. LP will still be viable but personally won’t be using it as consistently. The MP Headbutt buff is so good too since it’ll have invincibility startup and will go through fireballs… Great for moving in on your opponent but still should be used sparingly

the new MP headbutt is complete bullshit, been testing this on Akuma’s FB. Looks the same and doesnt go throught.

It’s there, but sadly you have to be right in there grill for it to be effective. In short, it’s ass. There isn’t enough invincibility frames for it to be good.

ex hands combos seem easier now… can someone confirm this?

Dont’ think so, haven’t been able to do ex hands to c.lk yet…

And yeah, MP headbutt fireball invincibility doesn’t seem like it’ll be useful.

Invinceable vs fireballs until the 10th frame my arse, useless.

Will only be of any help vs low tiger shots which you’ll be able to react to later,

Strong Headbutt works at beating meaty fireballs. Other than that I don’t see the usefulness.

MP Headbutt is good vs Sagat actually. You can see a bigger difference when you use the MP headbutt. If you space yourself correctly vs Sagat it makes it soooo much easier to take him out now.

jab hands will connect fully vs rose and sak now. still doesn’t work against crouching honda, haha.

strong headbutt is going to be cheap. i’m calling it. akumas randomly walking round pressing roundhouse? strong headbutt. viper seismo? strong headbutt. cammy without super/ultra? strong headbutt.

I’m having extreme difficulty using the new lp. headbutt as an anti-air. It’s not even vaguely like the SSF4 version. :frowning: Oh, and I do attempt the move at the last instant before something hits me.

You need to do the jab headbutt early to AA properly. Was it like that in Super? I honestely don’t remember.
