Home Depot Springs for extra tension on Sanwa JLF

For people having trouble finding the springs… here is the part # 471 864

And for those having issues actually modding the JLF here is a youtube clip by akihabarashop

for you guys using these springs, can anybody tell me if this spring is tighter than jlf spring + LS 33?

i just took the oem spring out from a JLF, stretched it out and placed it back in. nice and tight and at no cost.

Cool! thanks

Good for a quick fix but won’t last as long as getting a different spring.

Can you inform us if it fits and how much it lowers the tension by?

Thanks

Yeah, stectching may help a little but wouldn’t get the stiffness I am after, and for not as long.

Not to mention 4 bucks for 3 spare springs is cheap as chips, but certainly a good alternative.

just picked them up, and there are four of each spring in the pack

i did the spring twist + there is another spring in the pack that is longer, and skinnier and very flexible that will fit inside and around the actuator as well. it’s a little too stiff with all three, but it’s not bad with just the regular (though the two intertwined like the original post seem better)

Dope find, gents.

haha I think you are right, there were 4 in there

you get 4 of that particular spring that will work. right now i’ve been playing around with tension some more. if you really like it to be super stiff, put 2 HomeDepot springs and leave the JLF spring in there. its really tight.

right now i’m using just 3 of the Home Depot ones, not JLF one at all. Feel is AWESOME with the Cherry switches.

glad i could help

You won’t be putting these in a Happ stick.

Happ spring (top), LS33 (used for JLF spring mod) and two Home Depot (bottom).

I’ll put these in my stick in a few. The longer bottom left has the same diameter as the 33. I’m not sure if it’s the one you guys were referring to. The bottom right has the same thickness but isn’t as stout as the 33.

i think the bottom left one there is too small in diameter and a bit too long. i tried cutting it and stuffing it in there, it fit, barely, but was insanely tight. very uncomfortable.

i tried that super stiff one, and it required a lot of work to make contact with the switches =)

great find, man 4 bucks for 84 springs, can’t beat that…takes some time to find the ones you are looking for in the box though, they are pretty tangled in that box

I wonder if Home Depot has any elevator buttons that work better than Sanwa’s j/k

about to roll to home depot and give this a look.

that actually crossed my mind when i was in the elevator at work. they’re clear and about the same size, but i think the return time would be horrible.

Any recommendations for Seimitsu LS-32?

Went to home depot. They had mad boxes.
4 bucks and change.

As the fellas indicated, there were 4 screws able to work for the job.

I tried it out in different variants on a jlf.

First : Stock spring with 1 HD spring.
2nd : Stock spring with 2 HD spring.

At which point, I figured anything else wouldn’t be to my liking.

I then tried 2 HD springs, the 3 HD springs by themselves. No stock spring.

Neither really was the feel I was after.

I settled on the JLF with stock spring and 1 home depot spring.
Then tried an octo instead of square. It was great. I loved it. But I really didn’t feel like reacquainting myself to an octo, so I stuck with the square.

Needed some test material. Using Ken as a reference for shotos, and Boxer for charges. And C.Viper for additional up/down’s.

With the spring added, pulling off a simple ol’ light shoryuken -> fadc -> ultra with ken, A fierce buffaloheadbutt -> ultra with Rog, and Vipers Air Jump are all slightly easier. Both with and without the octogate.

I was surprised. (I also have no way to measure or approximately gauge the tension increase.)

As for the Ls-32 ?

Not sure, was planning on checking tomorrow, the tension on those are --almost-- as perfect as it gets for me.

This springmod on a sanwa makes it about as tense as an Ls-32, but snap-back to neutral is much quicker, though.
Definitely worth a shot if you feel your dashes aren’t feeling right.

Nice, that is just what I went through. I went with 1 Sanwa and 1 HD spring and stuck it out with the square gate, I think overall it’s the better of the 2.
