Hmm, that’s kinda interesting. You’ll have to pay attention because some moves swap your stance automatically; initially I thought the button was going to swap over fp, bp and the same for kicks, that would have been awkward as hell! Dropping into southpaw for no reason.
Is this a legit reason to peek at Kitana’s azz mid-fight?
NRS said themselves that there wasn’t an actual use for flip stance, so it’s interesting to see that there actually is. What’s really interesting about it is that it may not have even been intentional on part of the developers.
Are you guys mad? It’s clearly an unwanted collision glitch. And they’ll probably end up fixing it.
NRS openly said they didn’t intend or want the stances to affect gameplay in ANY WAY. It might turn out to affect the game more than we thought but it certainly wasn’t their intent to do so.
It’s not part of any greater combat mechanic design. Take that silly idea out of your head. It’s an emergent gameplay. Still not sure if it will really affect the game positively or negatively. Only time will tell.
Yeah, but why you mad though? Yes, a collision glitch. I think we all get that for what it is. But further testing needs to be done. Because even IF this is the case, right now it adds that dynamic to better defend yourself against someone who may be spamming the hell out of one combo string.
Patch it if they want, but I wouldn’t really cast this into a negative light just yet.
I just said it’s an emergent thing (something that was not planned at all by designers/programmers). Whether it will affect the gameplay in a positive or negative way remains to be seen.
I don’t have anything against it as long as it doesn’t break the game or allows for really cheap/unfair tactics. You’re right stance switching could end up being an interesting tech.
We wont know that. At first glace, even if it is accidental, you can’t ignore that it does add a certain degree of consideration for gameplay.
This would actually make a lot of sense as to why it happened if the hitboxes are really just the hands and feet of a character. If your front punch is pulled back from a closed stance, it would take range off of that punch and add range to the other.
It entertains the child within me that not only enjoys blood but shiny things.
I actually hope NRS embraces this, maybe expand on it in one of their planned revisions or even MK10. This is already waaaaay better than the shit style changes in the 3D MKs.
Personally, while it may be there, I’m never going to actually use it. I’m confident that it doesn’t have nearly a substantial enough impact on gameplay, and I like the game’s level of depth where it is without stance switching. Just me, though.
