there were levitated air battles in the manga too. like the one from the first fight between raoh and ken in the movie.
I’ve never heard of it but the manga goes on after the Kaioh arc and has Ken going on a few adventures with Ryuu.

The stories were pretty crappy though, they go to a lost kingdom and reunite 3 brothers with their father and then it finishes with Ken being reunited with Batt and Lynn.
Batt makes Ken and Lynn lose their memories in a hope that they fall in love but then some blind random comes along looking for Ken. Batt claims to be the man of Hokuto and gets all mutilated before everyone gets their memory back and hugs one another.
Ken then walks off into the desert to maintain manliness status.

The only OVAs ive seen so far are the one about Kenshiro getting captured and the other one where it just goes through the whole story. Man that one sucked…it was cool seeing Rei with Ken when he fought Jagi, but the fight between Raoh and Ken was such a disappointment.
Do you guys recommend any other OVAs I should watch? (and where I could find them)
^^^ Have you seen the New Fist of The North Star set (3 dvd’s). Came out about 5 years ago. Not great but not bad either. The animation is pretty good and the violence is pretty high. The character development has nothing on the original series though. Just a short stand alone story here.

And was there ever an OVA where Shin is the main bad guy, or its based around him? Itd be cool if they had one where they show Shin go around killing all his brothers (somehow) and then he fights Ken at the end.

No it has no characters other than Ken from the original series. I don’t even think Bat and Lynn are in it. The setting is unusual, it takes place in some middle eastern like region. Just watch it for the crisp animation and fight scenes other than that it’s just alright.
Edit: Yea, that’s punks back folding in was so brutal. I think he begged for forgiveness harder than anyone throughout the whole story. Ken’s like “nope”
I almost cried when Toki dies and Raoh saved Toki when they were kids. That’s the thing about Raoh. Deep down he’s not super bad like most of the villains. He’s almost good hearted in rare instances.
I don’t get how nobody has attempted to make a proper live action version of FOTNS, there is so much depth to story it would make an epic trilogy!
Even though I didn’t like NFOTNS because the proper fights happened towards the end of the series, but the idea that the Hokuto took on the sole responsiblity to hide the reamaining nuclear weapons was a cool twist to the series. The flash backs to training at the school and growing up together were awesome aswell, like when Raoh beats Ken to a pulp but is then told the reason why Ken will grow up stronger than him, and later how Ken is able to defeat the Ken-o punch because of this. * I’ve forgotten the punch Roah names after himself, I think its soemthing like Ken-o (they give him so many different names in the series) .*
Yeah, but I’m beyond sick of all the new gaidens and even some of the prequel mangas going through such lengths to make Raoh out to be a stand up good guy, while in the original series it was shown he did care for Kenshiro and Toki, he was definitely willing to do anything to achieve his ambition, even kill them. It’s like they’re trying to make the dictator that fought Rei/Toki/Kenshiro disappear for this noble bad guy image. :xeye:
TFO: Raoh’s title is Ken-Oh(Fist King), but his style is Gou-Ken(which is basically just his power oriented Hokuto Shinken)

FOTNS1 - FOTNS Original plot Ken looking for Yuria, kills off Shin learns of Raoh
FOTNS2 - Raoh’s apsiration, goes after nukes kills everyone in his path, Ken realizes his purpose of being successor through meeting Lin, Bat and Toki.
FOTNS3 - Rei appears (racks a decent body count), more insight to Hokuto history, final showdown between Ken and Raoh.
Don’t know how you could fit Souther in there, but he like Rei are characters that deserve to be in it.

Hnk2 was pretty medicore I wouldn’t mind seeing a series with Bat and little Raoh teaming up to be the new warriors . Im pretty sure there has to be some left over nanto teachers with some pretty pissed off students
The closest thing to live action HNK was Ricky-O. He punched through people.
I’m still not sure what everybody means by HnK3 but Mangafox has translated scans of the entire manga if that helps.
I was bored at work and thought of this thread, I think Shin is my favorite HnK villain just for how tragic he is. Every guy can identify with being rejected, which is why he is such a sympathetic character. Even though he was a pretty minor villain, the first big hurdle that Ken had to cross he was the spark that set off the entire story.
so, lets say Shin never stole Yuria away from Ken and they lived happily ever after. Would Raoh have conquered everything unopposed?
^pretty much, but I’m sure “Fate” would’ve found some way to propel Kenshiro to fight Raoh anyway, seeing as how prior to Souten no Ken, everyone just blindly followed their destiny anyway.

Shin was pretty tragic when he tried to give the woman he loved everything his whole world came crashing down around him his generals, people, his kingdom all because her heart belonged to another man. If Shin had just been a cut throat mofo like the rest of Nanto he would have been just as tough as Shuu and Rei. Poor fool only wanted her heart and neglected his fist.
What I am shocked about is why they haven’t made an Hnk fighting game sequel they could add in 10 plus characters. Jyuuza was bad ass son of a bitch he messed with Raoh’s head stole his horse all this without no training.
Whats everyones favorite OVA? So far, ive seen all of them expect Yurias and I think Raohs is the best one. IMO the Toki one was the worst.
(Ive seen Toki, Raoh, Ken, and the 1986. I dont think theres any other ones?)
