[hitbox mod] Looking for firmer buttons

Hi everyone,

I am a SFV keyboard player. I’m still a newb but I’m quite serious about the game.

Since I’m a PC warrior and played on a keyboard all my life, I recently switched to a PS3/PC hitbox.

I like the hitbox layout a lot but I don’t like the japanese sanwa buttons, I find them to be too sensitive for my taste.

By default, the hitbox comes with 11 OBSF-24 24mm and 1 OBSF-30 30mm sanwa snap-in buttons.

I heard that seimitsu buttons are firmer than sanwa but still rather sensitive.

Maybe I should go for Happ or american-style buttons.

I’m not very knowledgeable about buttons, I hope some of you will be able to help me find buttons with a good firmness that can fit into the hitbox.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Regards.

American parts wont fit in the hitbox case. Get OBS-MX with mechanical keyboard switches from paradise arcade shop. Different coloured switches require different operating forces.

Once you go Black, you’ll never go back.

@BolSadguy , @jopamo,

Thanks for your feedback guys.

OBS MX buttons seem to be great but apparently there is no 24mm version :frowning:

Right, forgot about that. My bad.

In that case I think Seimitsu is as stiff as Japanese buttons go. The only other option is finding a set of 24mm Gamerfinger buttons but good luck finding even 1 of those.

@BolSadguy,

Thanks for your new reply.

Gamerfinger’s quality level seems to be subpar. Guess I’ll go for seimitsu :frowning:

PS :

A very last question, what is the best OBS MX switch color for fighting games ? Black ?

Yes, IMHO. Actuation force is 65g…closest to existing Seimitsu 24 and 30mm button actuation force.

It’s mostly a matter of preference. Personally I prefer tactile switches unless I’m doing a silent build.

Thanks again for your feedback guys.

I ordered a bunch of seimitsu buttons, hope I’ll be happy with it.

PS :

On another topic, do I need an adapter to play SFV on PS4 with a PS3/PC hitbox ?

I don’t think you would need an adapter. The game might be able to pick it up automatically. If it doesn’t, I believe there is a file you can download that it will help pick it up without having to install a separate program

@LSick, I see, thank you :slight_smile:

Yep, OBS-MX only come in 30mm. PAS have been looking into 24mm, but it’s a non-starter for the time being (I think due to PCB size). The advantage GamerFinger had was that they did, in fact, offer 24mm versions.

Get the Crown SDL-301 buttons.

He needs 24mm buttons since he has a hitbox. Crown SDBs only come in 30mm

Don’t be sad about settling for seimitsus, they’re fantastic buttons in their own right.

Hi guys,

A week ago I asked Paradise Arcade Shop if they intended to release a 24mm version of their OBS-MX buttons.

They replied that it’s in the back of their head but it’s not a priority.

Hope we will not be obliged to wait for too long.

I’m still waiting for my seimitsu buttons, can’t wait :slight_smile:

Their reply :

You can buy just the switches and put them in every button if you have Sanwa OBSF30/24.https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/Sanwa-OBS-M-1-Microswitch.html Just note that these switches require a different quick disconnects. https://www.focusattack.com/female-187-to-male-110-conversion-wire-set-of-2/ You would need this too but its not in stock in stock.

They told me this literally a year ago.

Don’t wait up.

If I recall, Cherry-MX switches themselves dont even fit inside 24mm Sanwa shells. PAS is gonna have to get creative if they’re gonna offer a mechanical 24mm option.

I’ve always thought that hitboxes should have all 30mm buttons, or all 30mm buttons with a 40mm jump button or something like that. I think that using 24mm buttons is very unorthodox. It creates issues like these too. I do wonder what my idea would look like with a 40mm button. I only really like that idea because you can buy 30mm and 40mm Sanwa RGs. lol.
