[hitbox mod] Looking for firmer buttons

Tried that before: Didn’t work as well as it sounded in the back of my head.
Unless you’re a 250 pound gorilla with grizzly hands, or a professional piano player, who’s grown fingers that’ll reach the bottom of a soda can, I recommend sticking with 24mm buttons - at least for the left/down/right directions.

I was curious if anyone would recommend these. My only caution would be depth. That is to say that they may be too tall for the case in question. Would very much recommend measuring everything before ordering as these switches are not cheap.

Yeah. @BolSadguy in this thread said not to opt for american parts as they wouldn’t fit, and to be honest, the buttons i linked are a few millimeteres deeper in size. It needs to have more than 50mm free space inside your case i’d say. The entire length of the button from above the panel to the bottom of the switch is 47mm, wich gives you more room than you think as you need depth under the panel, but still a tight fit.

Thanks for all your replies guys, it was interesting to read.

I received my seimitsu buttons and installed them in my hitbox, the 30mm seimitsu PS-14G button that I used to replace the thumb button feels great but the 24mm PS-14D seimitsu buttons that I used for the rest of the layout are not as amazing as their 30mm counterpart. I guess they are supposed to be used as start/select buttons but not for actually playing with them.

@ProgressiveBalance, I like the 24mm buttons size of the hitbox, it’s relatively similar to the size of the keycaps you find on most keyboards and as a keyboard warrior playing with smaller buttons feels more comfortable. About your suggestion of using OBS-24A buttons, could you describe the feeling of those buttons ? Thanks in advance for your reply. Sad that the conversion wires are no longer available btw.

Yeah, I’ve used OBS-24A buttons for Start, Select and Home buttons before (harder to accidentally press) and they’re almost as tall as American buttons. Unless they’ve changed their design I wouldn’t count on them fitting in an official Hitbox and looking at the Jasen’s Customs stick I’m staring at right now I’m not certain they’d fit in that either. I like their design [OBS-24/40A] but you probably need to have them in mind when designing a case.
