Hit Box - We so S Tier1!

I have a few questions that you guys might be able to answer. I’m considering getting a hitbox instead of using my keyboard; but I’m not sure of the benefits. Are the Hitbox Sanwa buttons more sensitve than a keyboard’s buttons? And is there some sort of wireless usb adapter I can buy from somewhere that will plug into the Hitbox and make is wireless on my PC?

Edit: Thinking about it, a wireless usb converter might be implausible, due to a lack of a power supply.

Hey Evo169,
I’ve been using the Hit Box since this morning and it’s definitely a lot better than using my keyboard (cherry reds).

The two biggest differences are that the key presses themselves, and the layout.
Key press are so much quicker and easier to execute with the Hit Box because of the travel time between the UP & DOWN motion.
They layout makes it so it’s a lot easier to plink, piano, double tap without hitting other keys near it. I can practically glide between buttons on the Hit Box vs. Keyboard, so it’s a lot easier to buffer inputs.

I’m pretty jealous right now. It sounds like the HB fixes the gripe I have with a keyboard, which is how awkward it can be. At this point I’m considering building a hitbox using a wireless KB soley for the wireless functionality. I don’t have any delusions that it will be easy or that it will be cheaper than buying a hitbox, but I am sure I can pull it off since I’m pretty experienced with DIY stuff.

Love your guys hardware and the multi-console is a complete sell for me. How long of a back log do you guys have? Also, what happened to the detachable USB cable?

Hey guys, sorry again for the late responses.

I know there are thousands official Hit Boxes out there now, but I have no idea how many DIY ABCs exist. We met probably 100 Hit Box players at EVO this year, but I’m sure there was more in the room.

I put in a shirt order yesterday, so the end of August we should have shirts on our store. They’ll be the exact same shirts we were giving out at EVO to all the Hit Box players we met. Very nice soft style shirt in dark gray. “hitBOX” logo on front and HITBOXARCADE.COM in stencil on the back a la hit box army. Will have to get pix soon, but I’m no model lol.

No distribution yet. :frowning: Everything is mailed directly from Henderson, NV, USA.

What games do you play? There are some characters that get derpy perks (Kabal, Strider, Mishimas, etc), but you can pretty much invent new dimensions for any character once you get an understanding for the general shortcuts and mechanics.
Who do you play, and maybe we can brainstorm? You mentioned SCV; there’s all sorts of CE shortcuts and guaranteed instant moves and optimal quicksteps and perfect 33/11/77/99s to toy with already.

We generally ship out within the next few business days. From there it’s up to USPS. When we’re on pre-order it can take a while, but it will say on the site before you purchase if that’s the case.

Send me an e-mail (hitboxes@gmail.com) and I can send you an art template. I’m still waiting for my order of clear plexis, but it shouldn’t take much longer. :frowning:

We should be able to ship out Monday! We took feedback about the detachable USBs; were more prone to damage from falls, etc., so we brought them back to wired.

I sent an email about getting a PS360+ with clear plexi shipped. Is getting the art printed directly onto the plexi that much better? How much time would it add? I was never a patient person =/.

It looks amazing having it printed, but honestly it takes forever to organize. I need to get enough people in on it together to get my art shop to print it. It’s like pulling teeth sometimes to get ppl to finish their templates, so I would go with the clear.

Nevermind printed one then. Maybe sometime down the line. Clear is good enough for me. I have a feeling I’d want to change the background once a month or so ><

Question for you guy’s. I’m having a really hard time performing Cammy’s cr. short-> cr. jab -> cr. short -> cannon drill. When your holding downback, it’s difficult to roll it into a hadoken motion. It’s like ryu’s cr. forward -> hadoken. Anyone out there have any tips? Thanks in advance!

Just do a quick lift off of the buttons after the the downback and “slide” the quartercircle with two fingers (I’m sure there are other methods but that is how I manage it).

Wow… I must be an idiot, didn’t realize that. I’ll try that when I get a chance. Thanks Bro

No, you’re not an idiot at all. That combo took me a month to lock down. It’s a very unnatural feeling movement. Lots of people think that Hitbox just takes all the skill out of the game, it’s a very untrue misconception. the hitbox layout takes the advanced skills you thought were hard with a stick, and makes them accessible, but it turns your advanced fundamentals inside-out…

I’ve been googling around and I haven’t been successful in finding an accurate Hitbox button layout template. Does anyone have one?

[delete]

It’s requesting a password of some sort. Do you have a mirror?

ah shit lemme see, thats on my personal FTP so keep in mind it’ll likely go down in a few months.

Try this:
http://flashdeviant.com/Official%207x16%20Hitbox%20Template_72DPI.psd

The link i shot you brought you to my FTP log in.

Thank you, that one works.

EDIT: Sorry to be picky; that one seems a little large. Is there any smaller template, more like the size of the SE Madcatz stick?

Hmmm i just realized that was a dummy version i mocked up to do the vectors In Flash and then report the lines over in 300 DPI.

Try this one:
http://flashdeviant.com/Official%207x16%20Hitbox%20Template.psd

This is properly sized to the OFFICIAL Hitbox at 300 DPI (optimal for most prints). It should be smaller than the Madcatz already. If you’re doing a Madcat’s mod to have a Hitbox layout, do this:
[]Grab a PSD of the Madcat’s template
[
]Open up both PSDs
[]Make sure both are set to 300 DPI (Image > Image Size > resolution)
[
]Select the Hitbox PSD in the tabs and pull it out so it separates as it’s own project
[]In Hitbox PSD, select “button proxy” folder layer
[
]Click and drag them into the window of the Madcats PSD (you have now copy and pasted the layers, yes this is the only way to do it and it’s dumb)

You now have proper proportions and can freely edit it within the Madcats PSD. I have provided images of real buttons you can edit to get an idea of color or any other mods there.
I was going to do something of that nature, but I just wanted to check before I went through the trouble. Thank you!

EDIT: I’m sorry again, just one last question. My original intent was to make my own shell and everything and do it from scratch, however, I see you’ve mentioned modding a Madcatz shell straight up… Do you know of any sort of guide/tutorial on doing that? Or is it just straight forward, drill more holes lol

Well the most important thing is this PSD provides you the proportions and placement for the buttons. All you really need is that folder. You can then build other layers with your actual final print shape to go underneathe, then move the buttons as a whole object to where you want them. Since you’re creating from scratch that is likely the way you have to do this anyway. So make a template of you box shape, layer the art on top of it, and use my buttons folder as a guide for where the holes will go so you can build that around it and no where to cut the holes (or your modder). Once again make sure it’s 300 DPI if you’re combining PSDs, or the proportions will be wrong for you measurements. You can change this later, but I highly recommend 300DPI.
