Toubletap + Backthumb button results in a BLINKED Doubletap

it realy helps

Warning! If you were thinking of buying a plexi from Art Hong using any of the layouts I posted in this thread, and you own an original (ā€œRound 1ā€) TE, do not order that layout, it will not work!

So my project went bust.

Bought a Round 2 TE, bunch of buttons from lizardlick, and a plexi from art, even an allen wrench from the local hardware store.

Finally get the plexi in today and I’m all hype to get my shit together, and one of the screws in my Round 2 won’t come out, I don’t know whether it’s stripped or what but I can’t get the sucker to budge.

Well, fuck it, I’ll just use my original TE. Take everything apart, then put the plexi on top just to make sure everything fits, and the pins from the jump button jam right into the PCB.

So now I have a second, unnecessary TE, a bunch of buttons, and a plexi with a bad layout. About $150 down the hole. :frowning:

My only hope is to somehow get the screw out of my Round 2 and pray that for the Round 2 the PCB is moved slightly over to the left.

ahem Seimitsu PS-15 30mm Snap-In Buttons

Now that might work.

It’ll look janky as hell though. (EDIT: Found out The PS-15 does exist in the color I want, but only arcadeshop.de has it)

And I still want to find a way to get this damn top screw out of my R2 so I can use that for the mod.

It’s probably the red adhesive stuff that’s keeping you back. It should come out eventually…

Haven’t seen much talk going on about these in a while, figure I’d ask what’s going down. Also if there’s a chance of some more vids of this thing in action. ( Would love to see one of these with a MK layout. )

Go through the bottom is your only option, that or try to wedge something between the bottom of the screw and the plate to help pry it up

Try relocating the placement of the PCB. Buy some 4-40 machine screws and nuts and use a drill or dremel.

Can I just ask anyone that is using a hitbox layout when and why you would ever use your right thumb for jump?

Don’t take that as harshly as it sounds, I’m not trying to be judgemental but I can see my thumbs getting in the way of each other and the idea annoys me, but then some people are saying it’s a bonus to have jump under both thumbs, but my question is WHY?

Thankum.

I haven’t used an actual hitbox, but when I used a,s,d,space u,i,o,j,k,l which lets you use your right or left thumb for up and honestly I found myself only using my right thumb for jump. And all you would have to do if you favor one thumb over the other just lay the thumb you want on jump on the button and just lay the other thumb underneath the jump button and they should never conflict with each other.

I’ll trade my brand new madcatz round II fightstick for one. Any trade?

Geez, I should check this more often, I missed like 8 posts. Anyways, My answer is going to sound like a cop out, but it’s simply the most comfortable way to jump. With the Hit Box design it’s possible to use either thumb you want, but in about 20 minutes I realized I was only using my right thumb to jump. It was a subconscious decision my mind made. You might find it more comfortable to use your left thumb, but it just feels better to me.

Just use the slide method? Wouldn’t that be the fastest way to get 2 360 inputs? All the way down (1st 360) and all the way back up (2nd 360)

I’m not going to be mean, I’ll just say that this is your opinion, and I think it is wrong.

That said, the only way for these to ever get banned is for people to actually start showing up to tournaments with them, and perform things that aren’t possible on arcade sticks. I’m confident that this will happen, but we’ll have to see. In the meantime I’m going to build my own!

The only move I can see that is hard to perform would be Ivy’s SS and CS… if you are not doing the lazy man input, that is.

I’d be damned if the hitbox is available now. I’ve been waiting for nothing, lol.

Hey guys,
It’s been a while since I last posted. We’ve been busy making lots of Hit Boxes and cultivating plans and ideas. We’re actually really close to speeding up production so that everyone who has been so patiently waiting will get their Hit Boxes much sooner. We’re talking and working with a manufacturer who is going to make very nice cases for us with a plexi top. Nothing is official yet, but we’re really trying to up our game and let us catch up with production. Until then we’ll keep making as many as we can in the meantime.

I uploaded some unedited video capture of match play of me playing MvC2 on PSN; about 40 minutes straight of it, the good and bad. It shows the Hit Box being used at the speed of MvC2, and gave me an excuse to take a break and play some video games.
It’s my first time uploading match footage of myself, so go easy on me.

They’re in HD so check them out at full res!

I’m still uploading the other two parts, so I’ll update the post.

With the standard WASD setup, you can’t do motions like :qcb::uf: and standard TK motions as fast, which is why. The time it takes for your middle finger to transition between :d: and :u: is long than it could be had you’d bound :u: to a button under either thumb.

Thank you.
Did you record the hands? If yes, could you post those?
If not, next time record hands, please.

This actually seems like a worthwhile idea and product. I would really like to try one, i am betting we might see future players using these in tournaments.

I don’t have Shawn’s camera equipment with me to film the hands, but I’m going to try and make my own ghetto set up for it for the future. This was kind of a push to make me learn how to use the software and force myself to start getting in shape for MvC3. Definitely hands for next time.
