i tried 123123123 times, it never comboed.
It’s because of chunli’s sprite while crouching.
With gouki against chunli for example (in corner), you can do:
HP -> hado -> stHK…
hadoken hits very late because chunli’s sprite goes backward.

Very nice v-ryu! Does this work midscreen or is this corner only?
Woh nice found.
St lk, st mk, cr mp xx normal/ex karakusa seem like reasonable focus beaters. When cancelled they push you closer (ala hayate feints) for the karakusa that will beat focus assuming you did it quick enough and you’re in range for karakusa. Throws beat the startup of focus attacks (after the let go) really well.
For ranges: st lk range: xx ex/lk karakusa
St mk range: xx mk/hk karakusa (note- some ppls heads go back out of st mk range)
Cr mp range: xx hk karakusa (note- max range too far to reach unless they release focus)
XX into lp hayate is also a good (and safer option) too.
Hi vryu master.
I done a post on Gamekult about ultra2 crossup.
btw i found 3 point where it works on crouching component (works well on charging char like emraistlin deejay ^^).
I have also two little trick for u2.
In case of you done random ultra (bad boy !!) try to fall just front of your opponent.
If he have done something his hitbox will be distord and you hit him.
If he blocked he can done a punish in your fast recovery but it’s far hardest than if you have hit him on block.
To have more time to choose distance, you can use a trick. The more time you press three kick on the wall the less distance she will . Let you more time to choose and done safe.
One setup : in case of focus airborne you can juggle with u2.
after reset juggle :
u2 to dash to neutral jump HP to dash to ex karakusa or throw.(let you time to react to a buffered ultra or shoryuken in the dash)
u2 to dash to forward jump HP to:
ex karakusa
6lk(crossdown) ex karakusa
ia tsurigi (used ex version to beat a crouch one opponent).
etc…
its difficult to be in front of opponent with (random) ultra2.
And a good opponent will punish you anyway xD
you can crossup ultra2 after any backthrow near corner. Setups:
(makoto in corner):
backthrow -> empty forward jump -> ultra2 (MK version)
(opponent in corner):
backthrow -> straight emtpy jump -> ultra2 (MK version)
with backthrow setup, you do ultra2 20 frames before opponent wakeup:
backthrow (60frames knockdown) -> empty jump (40 frames) -> 20 frames left
i tried to find setup with EX oroshi leaving you 20 frames, but didnt work:
EX oroshi (68 frames knockdown) -> f+MP (21 frames) -> f+HK feint (27 feint) -> 20 frames left -> ultra2 (MK version).
it didnt crossup.
I used the backthrow setup a lot in some matches yesterday. Worked very well. hahaha
Oh, and i found a bug yesterday:
(in corner)
EX oroshi -> forward empty jump -> any move as soon as you land
makoto will do the move on the other side xD
It’s just a well distance knowledge.
Agree but the fastest recovery didn’t allow any punition whereas a blocked u2 allow all.
nevermind it’s just a safer mind couter ultra, shouldn’t be used a lot.
Example :
Good in case of counter a blocked medium kick to hadouken. You can’t be sure that he had os hado, with those tricks you escape ultra punition .
So even if your opponent knows about this trick, you can just start mixing in the lk version for a 50/50.
That is, if they even attempt to block it. Seems backdash turns it into a 0/0.
Not worth giving up U1 over but that’s a pretty nice gimmick as far as gimmicks go. Gonna bust this out online for the lulz.
Vryu im pretty sure backthrow is really 61f wakeup, so try aim for 21f after ex oroshi, it might work then.
Fucking crazy dawg!!! I just got hyped so dis bitch extra hard!!!
How do I option select with normals? I can do it fine with specials, but I’m reading things about st.MP (whiff on backdash) -> cr.HP (hits opponent). Do I just do a meaty Mp and sweep after or something?
You time the normal assuming your move will whiff.
Saw this on a jap replay; FA lvl 1 (crumpled), dash back, dash forward hp oroshi (hits them as they drop to floor).
this is a nice option select i came up with in the corner, great after a f. lk reset after ex hayate.
just hold back and press throw, timing it right after a reversal move (shoryu) would hit you. then be prepared to fukiage immediately.
the only thing that will beat this is a wake up low attack lol.
cuz with all those options, you’ll either throw them, throw tech, block a reversal, or punish their jump (the whiffed grab animation is usually enough time to throw out a fukiage)
so this is a great way to see how an opponent deals with the reset rather than eating a full combo for a whiffed karakusa or reversal in your face
edit: LP fukiage will work if the opponent presses a button in the air, (which 90% of the time i’m sure they will)
otherwise MP fukiage works well if they jump back.
if they neutral jump ex fukiage.
if they jump forward i’d just do a regular anti air like j.FP or cr. MK picking the right fukiage is tough to determine to make it hit
WOW great option select Choysauce, I’ve been thinking about how forcing the opponent into the corner and using her mix-ups is probably the best way to play her. This only helps support that idea thanks. Not to mention you can double fukiage ex tsurugi for almost 500 stun off of that. Great stuff Choysauce
another setup for Abare crossup:
backthrow -> dash*2 -> Abare HK version
Is the your opponent supposed to be the corner still?
^^ Yeh, does that work mid screen??
sadly nope (i didnt success).
but its character’s position specific:
in corner -> backthrow -> (forward) jump (makoto must land in corner) -> MK abare
whiffs if opponent is crouched…
opponent in corner -> backthrow -> dash*2 -> HK abare
crossup crouched opponent, but not all (it works on shotos and big characters)
it works against some standing opponent: feilong, ibuki, etc.
I didnt test every character.
I’ll do more test tonight.
btw, its just a funny tricks…ultra1 is still the best :x
Anti reversal ex karakusa reset; karakusa, st mp xx feint, buffer ex karakusa + hold down back/back for a little then press 2k
If they have started mashing reversals in your resets, this is a way to bait and punish whilst still OS’ing for a ex karakusa reset. Note if they are blocking high they will walk out or range, and if they are mashing lights you will be forced to block (but better than eating dp i guess). This is best for relatively fast reversals.
i tried HK abare crossup midscreen.
Works against crouched opponent.
Versus big character:
backthrow -> dash*2 -> stLK whiff -> HK abare.
