Obviously the solution is: Don’t drop your shit!
If only it were that simple
Not sure why that combo is relevant since, as you stated yourself, f.mp, cl.mp, cr.hp does more damage.
Maybe on dudley/abel.
edit: maybe higher stun? Though i doubt it considering the moves involved.
I’m going to practice that combo for the sake of landing it, it just looks cool.
Maybe if you landed a cl.hp and want to make the most of it…from a meaty cl.hp?
It’s relevant because sHP is the standard frame trap normal as you know if you hit a sHP but it wasn’t a counterhit this is the best damaging combo you can go for. Also this combo is better post stun or crumple as it front loads the damage so the heavy hits get scaled less.
Post focus crumple:
F+MP - sMP - crHP =
48 (80%) + 49 (70%) + 60 (60%) damage = 157
sHP - BMP - crMP =
80 (80%) + 56 (70%) + 36 (60%) damage = 172
Ah nice. Thanks for the info.
@Eternal How about the initial hit from the criminal upper? If it whiffs from the b.mp combo, it does less damage overall, right?
It does more than if you did s.HP - crMP - HP CU and all hits connected. sHP - BMP - crMP - HP CU is 298 which is 10 more than sHP - crMP - HP CU. Also as I showed, you can end every char with MK Ruffian instead for 319. Some chars you can end with LK Ruffian for a hard knockdown.
Ah ok, I misunderstood. I read wrong, thought you were saying that the combo does more damage than f.mp, cl.mp, cr.hp xx hp cu. But what you’re saying is that this combo is “basically” only usable when you get a non-counterhit HP to connect, from which you in theory could hitconfirm into b.mp instead of cr.lk. Except for Dudley and Abel, where it gets some good extra damage. Good find.
EDIT: Using one meter, the highest combo against Dud is after focus crumple f.mp cl.mp cr.hp xx lp cu ex cu, in the corner.
EDIT2: Well that was bullshit, you were right. The time here is too much, time to go to bed
Haven’t seen this posted but in this playlist you can find all (I think) of Sasaki’s matches in Topanga B league. I haven’t watched all of them but some pretty good stuff nonetheless.
Dakou has a nasty Cody
I was about to post that video lol, Dakou seriousely has dozens of characters he can play very very well.
KarinUSF has another where he plays Cody against Fei Long
That Fei match was decent. The guy wasn’t top notch but he had solid understanding of Fei’s spaces though obviously didn’t quite know Cody’s ranges on somethings. Plus Fei - Cody IS in Cody’s favor so a lower level Fei is of course going to struggle against a strong player like Dakou PERIOD much less in a MU in Cody’s favor. Good stuff though, I like Dakou’s usage of f-MP - cls MP - sweep, it’s something that I almost never use or see used. Also at 2:36 you see one of Cody’s big holes, goes for crHP (blocked) - badstone and eats an EX Rekka for his attempts just to end a block string safely.
The Cammy one wasn’t even worth watching other than to prove that Dakou knows what the inputs are for Cody’s moves. That Cammy was… bleh. So many badly spaced jump ins, screwed up inputs (Wakeup spiral?) tons of missed cannon strike inputs, and I think only 2x in that entire set did the Cammy player actually BLOCK on wakeup instead of DP/Throw/Backdash/Spiral arrow.
I don’t think the Cammy player had ANY fundamentals, there was zero attempt to play a ground game. If you jump all of the time of course you’re going to get anti aired, you need to try and get your opponent to be concentrating on the ground game before you jump, that way they aren’t as prepared to AA you every time.
@Eternal I saw that VRyu uploaded a video of him using the new proximity OS Ultra tech to blow up wake-up DP’s. Any chance for you to come up with some cheap stuff?
I’ll look into it but TBQH I can’t see many of em being useful due to their slow start up and large hurtboxes almost all of his specials would be baitable. Plus OS Ultra wouldn’t work against wake up DP for Cody. U1 is too slow at 13F and U2 would hit them airborne and leave you open to an ultra punish. The best thing I can think of is if OS Zonk is possible that could be viable and maybe even strong.
@Eternal well using it to counter DP’s is of course out of the question, but I’d be surprised if there really aren’t any uses for it still. Say for example baiting a crouch tech, a bad reversal (like Roses EX Soul) etc. What do you think?
@ostkatten No need to worry about Rose’s reversals. OS sweep after a 4F safe jump beats EVERYTHING (backdash, jump, EX soul throw, EX Soul Spiral all lose. Only a wakeup U1 would work.)
As I said, I’ll look into it, really the best OS I can think of is his U2 tbh. As long as the fight is grounded his U2 is going to be the best option, it’s fast enough and far enough reaching to catch just about anything. You could probably do crMP - ProxOS U2 during footsies against a character like Ryu very well.
@Eternal I tried but it’s hard to do. Didn’t know the sweep os would beat ex soul spiral, good stuff!
@ostkatten I posted it a while ago when BJUnchained asked me to look into something to deal with Rose’s backdash AND soul spiral since OS Zonk was too slow to hit her backdash.
