Small question. I notice certain people finish combos differently. Most people would end a combo with a CU or a RK. I normally use medium ruffian kick after a combo to push the opponent back. Then i watch other people play and they use CU to end combos. Which is better to use the CU or the RK? and i do mean this for cases when finishing combos, punishing, or just when your opponent blocks.

hp cu for damage.
mk ruffian for spacing.

when your opponent blocks? NOTHING. both are unsafe.

@ ADN Sry i took so long; the first time i tested the set up it was on a dummy on auto block then after I post it I tried it on the shotos and discovered the opponent can dp before the jump becomes ambiguous, the opponent can move and evade the butt slam, the opponent can also crouch the butt slam, the j.mk will always hit the opponent. Sry it’s more a gimmick than a safe set up for a stunned opponent :frowning:

cr.lk xx criminal upper is not a true blockstring, hence why it’s a bad habit.

I think most people here know that c.MK is -3 on hit. It’s not always punishable though (in the case of a whiff punish for example).

no one uses c.mk from point blank, tho. it’s a slide. a short one, but still a slide.

Does anyone know how to fight against T.Hawk. I have sooo much trouble against him.

rocks, rocks, rocks, rocks, hk ruffian against any sort of jump or condor dives.

My problem is the the tomahawk…its like if i block it i have no real strong punishes for it. I just get command grabbed. I use the knife from time to time but i feel my options are limited at close range. Are there no unblockable setups versus T.Hawk?

i have a lot of problems with zoning character like guile or sagat, any tips? maybe its just im the most unpatient human alive.

with sagat it’s hard time ! hey . if he does the high tigershot just use the cr.mk to get under and get closer
and you can use the ligth zonk to get under all tigershot .and use the “unblockable” that someone post in this thread (page 8 i guess)

for guile, just walk to get closer , block the sonic boom and walk again and block again. this will put guile in the corner.
if he sonic boom and guile follow is sonic boom just neutral jump and i use j.mk after hit you can do cody’s bnb .

Both those matchups require a ridiculous amount of patience. You shouldn’t be rushing at all, just take your time and try and reduce the risks you take when you finally get in so you can STAY in. Learning what’s punishable, anticipating fireballs, adapting to their patterns etc is down to the player but what all Cody players need in those matchups is patience. Walking and blocking is your best friend and walking and neutral jumping is your wife lol.

Sweet mother of jesus that f.mp in cr.hp was godlike lol. I still don’t get will he does cr.lp, cl.mp, cr.hp but doesn’t do f.mp, cl.mp, cr.hp for punishes.
