how do you find those things? x) everytime I hit the lab to try to find stuff like that I’m getting bored quickly sadly =/
Just a combination of luck, inspiration and method. This one was found completely by chance, I was only looking for a good cross up on DeeJay. Otherwise, I just go for certain wake up frames and try different distances, timings and normals for the jumps.
I guess that when you find one unblockable, it becomes easier since they are all variations of similar setups.
Also, happy new year everyone.
I’ve been watching a lot of Momochi lately and I noticed he doesn’t fall for a single Ibuki vortex at all. Is there some kind of trick I don’t know of? I was under the impression you just had to guess correctly…?
Is it like Marvel to where whichever side your opponent is on is the direction you take into consideration when blocking?
Yes.
I’ve heard people say that you can easily react to the kunai shenanigans once you have enough matchup experience. One thing I considered at some point is playing Ibuki for a while to recognize most of her setups and options after each knockdown, but never got to it because I don’t face Ibukis, like, at all. But to give credit where it’s due, Momochi has one of the best defenses in the game…it’s also him being really solid.
Well, Momochi used to play Ibuki when super came out – I remember him facing Daigo during an online edition of the Godsgarden tournament. So he is pretty familiar with her setups.
Oh yeah good point, I had forgotten about that. Well he pretty much plays every character in this game lol.
Now… I might just be dumb or something. Possibly having a brain fart so I don’t know if this is old news or not but is it common knowledge that Cody can do a regular criminal uppercut after a RK > FADC?
I always would do a RK > FADC > f.Rh to EXCU. But it never occurred to me to try a regular CU.
I mean, the damage is meager and many better things can be done but do people know this?
regular is too slow
No see that’s what I’m saying. It’s NOT too slow. I’m doing it right now.
cl.FP > Roundhouse RK > FADC > FPCU works.
MK Ruffian is better damage/meter in the situation you depicted.
Did they change the hitbox on j.hp? People were always blocking my EX Ruffian, dash, dash jumping hp in the corner and it turns out somehow it can be blocked both ways (crossup or non crossup). When I messed with the timing I got the j.hp to wiff so people would walk under you. Can anyone do it consistently?
Got another setup vs Seth (no video, sorry): combo into EX Ruffian midscreen, dash back (EX Ruffian slides under Seth), wiff s.jab, j.hp OS u2. Looks pretty ambiguous and must be blocked as a non crossup. U2 punishes everything Seth does, except wakeup U1. If he shoryukens the dust from U2 wiffs, but the wrench hits connect. Not new at all, just remembering it can be applied to Seth.
I hate this game.
Well, for starters, that setup is character specific so yeah, some characters can just walk under it if they try to block it as a crossup. Otherwise, against the characters on whom it should work, it’s just a question of timing. There’s a specific moment when to press HP.
Concerning your setup, you can also just perform the unblockable setup on Seth: after ex RK, whiff a standing HK, walk forward for a pixel and jump MK.

I understand your points regarding the setup, but before 2k12 even when I was training it I never got the result I get more often than not now (that they can block in either direction). Could you test it and see if it still works on Ryu?
Thanks a bunch for the unblockable…I actually went to your channel and apparently missed that one.
It still works on Ryu =)
Dammit! Back to the lab. I swear I could do that setup 90% of the time before and now I’ve lost it =(
get some vs yesterday with toystory5364 on xbox live (australia ) this guy is pretty good with cody ! i will put a video soon . he show me some skill i didn’t even know/see it yet ! what he does : ruffian kick.HK FADC F.MP ( F for front ) that 's make me reset, and he get more combo after this , but i have to watch the vids as i don’t remember … anyway will post it asap.
some day one cody technology you’ve found there I go too often for f.mp reset. should reduce it a bit, in particular against a few characers. dash up throw, c.lk xx, j.mk crossup etc are some decent options to go for every once in a while after a f.mp. f.hp after a f.mp reset is good aswell (in particular after ex zonk FADC due to the new higher flight), making it somewhat ambiguously. catched quite a few with it, some standing, leading into the new c.lk link. (ex zonk, fadc, f.mp,f.hp, c.lk xx lp cu, u2. shinny finish).
that’s all new for me !! thanks for that ! the f.hp followed by c.lk only works on stand or counter hit , it’s not working on crouch due to the -1 frame? am i right?
and does U2 fully connect after lp.cu?
Nope, just the sand. As for the f.HP, it works very well since people tend to focus after a reset.
f.hp has to hit a standing opponent, but no need for a counter hit.
u2 after lp cu is really more a gimmick, but it won me several rounds allready. you can combo u2 sand after nearly everything. [ex zonk, u2 dust for instance, does a decent amount of damage and can be a good way to turn the game if both players have low health, or if you do an OS / good read]
