I’m pretty sure he means a drop in all of Sentinel’s damage, both during XF and otherwise
i played my first few games online and personally, i feel the health nerf is HUGE
sent was only barely high tier to begin with, in my opinion
now he’s just middle tier
sooooo many better characters out there. i was gonna drop him eventually but he’s just so easy to spam with. and i only play online. so the lag REALLY makes that 400K life REALLY meaningful cuz holy crap, you can’t get hit
time to find a new team!! i mostly used him for an assist anyway haha
and my team was mags/sent/tronne… MVC2 style baby haha
You really sounded like a dick when you posted this sentence, but I somewhat agree with you.
For the last 2 days, I’ve been seeing alot of salt and raging because the bastard got nerfed. But he is so fucking good though. cr. M is 3 hits with armor all 3 hits. That is too good.
Not only that, he has a quick flight mode and his combos do 700K for no fucking reason.

I need to sound like a dick, to get the point across. Sent is still amazing, FOR NOW. The HP nerf affected nothing.
Second this and add it did affect some people… the scrubs thats who.
I’ve been trying to feel out the loss/benefit of switching to hulk/sticking with sentinel…
I seriously can’t decide… It feels about equal… I’ll certainly be grinding this out…
I mainly used sentinel as an assist, not as a point character unless I tag him in for the kill…
Hulk has the most similar assist to sentinel but it pushes the character to the end of the screen if it hits. That difference in property is what makes up for sentinel’s ass health (compared to hulk) so I can’t spam his assist (I can still spam hulks, and in the corner, the end of the screen isn’t so bad)
So i’m still gonna have to grind out both teams to see which one is better for me overall… and while writing this post, I got some ideas for how to land some damge full screen if that hulk assist hits.
Seth is pretty huge in SF4 and has low health. I’m sure there are other examples that are slipping my mind.
Akuma is smaller than cammy and makoto and has less health, Dorm has less health than wesker too… bad example but still true
if you can’t use him then either way you’re getting fucked. learn2combo/space
You should probably consider that you can’t really spam drones when you’re building/structuring your teams anyway. If your opponent has a clue health nerf or not your sentinel will die if you don’t protect the assist. Protecting your assist from full screen is much harder in this game than it was before because beam super startups are so much faster and characters overall move much slower.
He’s still the only character that I get consistent OCV’s online with. The easy execution is pretty huge for pulling out clutch 100%'s with x-factor. He is similar to phoenix in that he dictates the pace of the match when he’s in…a lot of character zoning with normals become unsafe and the fact is sentinel can pretty much jump in for free against half the cast. The health nerf was significant but it doesn’t affect what sentinel brings to the table.
If you’ve ever played MVC2 sentinel, you’ll understand that spacing correctly was incredibly important for him too. MVC2 sentinel got fucked if you didn’t know how to play footsies. Granted, it was easier since he was a lot faster and could fly cancel everything, but there was a reason why most ppl considered magneto vs sentinel solo autolose for sentinel. He requires a lot of matchup knowledge to fight pixies correctly…when to zone with his normals (or threat thereof), when to spit, when to stomp. Everything is dumbed down in this game but the concepts are still the same.
One of sentinel’s biggest advantages in mvc2 was actually his size. While we’re all looking at it like its a huge disadvantage, you have to remember that when you throw a frying pan out, you’re controlling half the screen. The range on his normals are huge…which is why to me one of his biggest nerfs was the fact that he has no fast LK type move that points downward…his flying B points upwards which is an awkward angle to work with. It’s a blessing and a curse, but you have to work the space control. Just be glad you don’t have to learn fast fly/refly shenanigans to make him viable. An easy example of this in mvc2 is that you learned to LK or frying pan on reaction to ppl airdashing in. A bad airdash pretty much led to a huge chunk of life gone from a pixie. In this game, you airdash in to a frying pan, your dude is dead.
I think in the end he’ll still be a staple on many teams because not only his assist, but on point he’ll stay a force throughout the life of the game. His point play is something that the hulk and haggar don’t have. If you need your characters to have health, you’re doing it wrong. As the meta develops, we’re going to see more one touch kill setups whether it’ll be from air exchanges, dhc tricks, or ways to game the combo system. If you get touched, you’re probably going to die.
If you just want him for his assist, I can think of other characters that have better assists and are safer, like doom’s beam, taskmaster arrows, tron fire, etc. But you should be prepared to play whoever you pick as an anchor on point. Part of what separated good MSP’s from great MSP’s was often how well someone could play their psylocke. The same thing applies here.
Most of the people who complained about Sentinel before are that people who will be playing FPSs again in a month. I’d have preferred it if Capcom just nerfed Level 3 X-Factor.
Never get tired of people trying to use some form of outside logic (for example comic book logic) to reason how a fighting game should be balanced.
well go ahead discuss game balance logic, he still shouldn’t have more health than them
He is the biggest target in the game, why should a HUGE character have less health then a small ass character like Wolvie?
Sent was good in trash vs trash, GREAT in Good vs trash, and trash in good vs good, get it?
All this nerf is gonna do is weed out all the shitty sent players who were relying on his ridiculous amount of health and mashing armored normals for their wins. Anyone who thinks he isn’t still a problem is in for a nasty surprise when they eat a frying pan. But on the flip side anyone who thinks this nerf affected nothing is also in for a nasty surprise, you have no idea how much sents health helped him out. He is weaker now, obviously, but he is still a problem, just much less of a problem now.
very true sentinel was a good character pre- patch but he got beat out by wolverine he needs 1.1 mill health and maybe lower his damage so his bnb’s do max 500 with xfactor
500? Are you drunk? If your combos are doing less than 700k, you’re not playing to win.
He said 500 WITH XFactor, he’s either shitting you or wrong.
Imagine 900k sent, only doing 500k with xfactor? That would be the worst character in fighting game history, lmao.
Somehow I imagine when ever Sentinal’s launcher is used flowers come out instead of explosions.
