Honestly, I like Nerdjosh’s Team when it comes to keepaway.
Arthur/Magneto/Sent
not every character on the team needs to play keep away(i used shuma for his ray assist and for his quirky movement if i could get it to work for me)
i am pretty much stuck on using arthur
so it’s either dorm or doom if i want to go all keep away
but right now i could probably pick someone like tron or hulk if i wanted a high damage character that can soak up hits
i really wanted to use one of the dlc characters(what a waste of $20 that was huh?)
but hey i guess disappointment is a part of life
If you’re gonna point and main a keep away character, he needs a projectile assist to help keep pressure, and an assist to keep him safe.
I happily dropped Sentinel off my team this morning. Only reason I had him was for easy wins and to stomp other sentinel users… Can’t wait to see the character diversity to come, anything is more entertaining than watching two sentinels go at it for half the match.
sighs i know
Akuma would be the safe assist(Tatsu)
and as for projectile? not sure
Best thing now is kicking peoples teeth in with Sent. and them not being able to bitch about him being over-powered. " BUT…but… " shut up asshole, he lost 30 -40 % of his health and he can still kick your head in.
No, akuma isn’t safe. You need something that pushes people back. Jam Session, Shoryuken/Crescent Scythe/Shadow Blade/etc, Missiles, gustaff.
Happily dropped the second highest damage output in the game? HAPPILY?
See, it’s players like you that cause unneeded nerfs to happen. But it’s cool, cause you’ll pick some piece of shit character, and come to a tourney I’m at, and I won’t have to worry about hyper armor when I kill you in one combo.
so in other words i have to use someone whom i don’t like…guess this was inevitable
No, that’s not what I’m saying.
What I’m saying is that to be COMPETITIVE, you have to play COMPETITIVELY. It’s important to understand that people have different goals when playing.
It’s a game, first and foremost, so you should do what you need to do to have FUN!
If you have fun playing characters you love, then do it. Play anyone, Play Modok, Thor, and random, if that’s what allows you to have fun. On the other hand, I like tournaments. I have fun by traveling, meeting people, and winning money. With that said, I built my team around what I feel is the best competitive build for my playstyle.
Ultimately, you will have to make a succinct choice between casual and competitive. Once you do, and you play towards that goal, you’ll have more fun.
Capcom sucks, because they’re making competitive decisions off of forum posts, instead of math, and resulsts. The people complaining about Sent weren’t competitive players. They were all casuals. But to not cater to the crybabies, they’d deteriorate their user base, and they’re a company first.
What’s okay to me, is that by not nerfing damage, and nerfing HP, which shouldn’t matter, since you shouldn’t be getting hit anyway, all the babies who complained before, and who are laughing now, are gonna be beaten by good sents anyway, and instead of crying again, they’ll just fucking quit.
And good god damned riddance. Party time.
i have fun using the characters i like and winning with them
but i won’t forsake my chances of winning with a team i can’t win with
so i guess winning is more important then having fun
diemme speaks the truth lol, all the scrub sentinels will wash away because they can’t get that easy win. Since damage wasn’t nerfd, you can still kill impatient button mashers. For everyone that is happy about the almighty sentinel nerf will still come back on these forums and complain how they still get raped by sentinel. Wednesday Night Fights will still see my big ass robot on my squad.
ps: this nerf should also give some credit to the actual sentinel players who know how to play their character. It’s also really fun to punish those sentinels that spam S or cr. M
Diemme is my second Favorite SRK user. Man speaks so much truth.
Well, I couldn’t justify getting rid of sent for a character like Dr. Doom or Trish… I know, he still does a retarded amount of damage I believe it’s #1 damage output based off a full combo, and most of the time I played him, he still had 400,000 health at the end of the match.
But now, I can play someone I enjoy more. Don’t get me wrong, he still is one of the best characters in the game.
Dark Phoenix’s super in xfactor lvl three can be used on reaction, and deals 770,000 by itself. She can hit confirm off of jab spam and then kill you in any way she pleases. I could probably face roll on my stick and kill thor with a combo, lol. She’s definitely highest output. I mean, they could be tied, but the git has 6 different projectiles, and a teleport.
No it just means winning is more important than having fun TO YOU
If you want to play with characters you like, play with the characters you like, and just work double hard to find creative ways to get around whatever their collective weaknesses are. If you’re playing Cap and you don’t have Wesker on OTG assist for the easy bounce, that doesn’t mean you aren’t gonna win. Just means you gotta find a different way around that problem.
Try to approach the situation creatively instead of just feeling like your awesome team you like is doomed to failure cause a month into the game, they seem at a disadvantage.
It’s obvious he meant that. If you would have read the thread, instead of trying to chime in like Kimmy fucking Gibbler, you’d know that the scenario he’s trying to find a solution to, was aimed at him.
I do agree that it’s too early to tell, but the way the game is playing now, he’s doomed. And maybe he’s not the type of player to play a game like this with a competitive mindset for more than a few months. He wants a solution now, and if he’s willing to accept what he needs to do, then he deserves the chance to do it.
But yeah, you don’t NEED to drop Sent. He’s still top 5, imo. At worst, 7-8. Still VERY viable.
I did read the thread, that reply still seemed super sarcastic to me, but maybe I’ve just been talking to too many jackasses about this lately who are going all doom and gloom about it. Thousand pardons and all that, I’m just used to way more negativity than is actually going on here.
Don’t worry, I got a phoenix on my team… Only difference is that I really enjoy playing her, I love teleport characters… Even without dark phoenix xfactor, she’s great, even on point!
To the guy who is having a character crisis, I can understand. In the days of vanilla SFIV(and I know it’s a different game but some thing apply) I use to use Guile. Guile in that game was one of the worst characters. I would go to tournaments and get bodied. However I never dropped Guile. Why? Because Guile felt comfortable to me. There was even a 1 week period where I was going to pick up Sagat, but he never felt right to me. I stuck with Guile from beginning to end, and I attended over 15 vanilla tournaments, and I used Guile in every one of them. I eventually made top 8 at a local tournament which had a lot of entrants, and this was near the end of vanilla so the skill level was definitely pretty high at that point. I didn’t win the tournament, but I made it all the way to top 8 with a low tier Guile.
There is a reason why I was able to make Guile work for me, despite being low tier at that time. It is because I feel comfortable with the character. I simply in my mind couldn’t use anyone else. I was better off using Guile than using someone better becaue I felt the most comfortable with my character.
Does it take work to win with low tier? Yes. Are situations impossible to get around? Yes. But there is one thing you learn with low tier that you sometimes don’t learn with high tier. You learn how to find little subtlties in situations, you learn how to find punishments for things that normally seem safe, and you make every opportunity count. A few gimmicks throw in there don’t hurt either. The thing is, it’s more than possible to be decent with low tier in even the most loop sided games. But you’re just going to have to grind it in the lab and grind it hard.
Look at VDO in MVC2, he plays with a team that is not even CLOSE to being top tier. He body Santhrax and MSPs all day with his team. THe key is that although his characters are all garbage, he takes full advantage of their strength. He fine tune their synestry, try to get the best combo in every situation, and knows every subtlty about the characters he use. And that’s waht you’re going to have to do when you use low tier. You’re going to have to find ways to bring out their individual strength, and know what to do in every situations. you yeah, you’ll need to grind it and do every combo like it’s as easy as breathing. Thats about the only way you’re going to make your team work.
Playing against people is going to help, because then you’ll be trained to deal with high level situations.
