Im working on makeing one That can either go into is “swag” combo or hisROM
I fucking Love his Swag combo!!!
Can’t wait to see it!
this is pretty much. what I do with all characters
hell you might lose a lot at first but when you stop it’s worth it
also you all should check out the flash metroid stream he shows alot of high level stuff i learnt quite abit

Im posting this here and in the combo thread. This combo is the basic version of what I was going for. This combo had to be dumbed down… A LOT…I have preformed the Advanced version of this combo which will kill deadpool with only 3 meters but that version is Very Strict with timing at a few specific parts. hopefully you guys like this version though, I will try to get footage of the advance combo soon though.
Im gonna have to get used to a lot of players using this guy :(…
My soul hurts
You are probably right but still. Don’t be afraid to lose a character. But that doesn’t mean be stupid with shit. I like striking in people that I’m not afraid to go in just because he is tied for what? 2nd worst health in the game?
Im to scared to do anything with rocket. I usually just play like a pussy and rely on teleports…
I lost to Another RR player in a ranked match today. It really made me want to drop him.
the way I see it is he’s to small to hit constantly, due to the fact im dropping so much shit online im just pretty much doing a ton of mixups after mixups
also odd bit of info i didnt know you could cancel j :s: into spitefire shrugs
Cool. Hopefully I run into you online, haven’t seen enough people playing Wesker and Doom.
Spent a lot of time fannying around when UMvC3 came out trying to find a team of new characters I liked. Now finally settled on Hawkeye/RR/Vergil. Team goes really well together and at the moment, just using Vergil Rapid Slash assist to cover teleports while trying to find my feet with RR. Spent all of yesterday getting the shit kicked out of me. Spent most of today losing as well but not as many matches. Now teleporting when it’s safe to do so, landing BnBs, zoning with net traps and oil fire far more effectively. Progress is being made.
Losing is the most painful part of learning but I’ll get there in the end. RR is the shit.
I like your determination but when you lose to a player who you know is a better player then you with that specific character if really puts you down.
j.
I recommend using j. H instead of j. S to start combos. It has way more hitstun.
I don’t understand this line of reasoning at all…
good thinking
I was talking more of using j:s: as quick space control cancled into spitfire just to keep them at bay for a second till you can use a assist again or something or to keep them out the air
Why? How is that different to losing to any character? What about when you lose to a better Wesker? Or better Doom? If anything, losing to a better RR player should be a great opportunity to learn - see what worked, what didn’t, how he mixed you up, what combos he used, how he used traps, how he moved around the screen…
Seriously, unless you’re on a mission to be that guy at tournaments who gets the odd nod of respect for playing an underused character to some sort of level even though he doesn’t win squat, I don’t see why losing to a better RR would put you off the character.
And nobody wants to be that guy.
Losing to a better player shouldn’t be that much of a bummer, it happens to everyone, and if you are really upset about not being the best Rocket Racoon player in the world less than a week after the games release, then you had unrealistic expectations going in.
He seems quite fun and he does have a tonne of ways to open people up, but his big weakness of shitty ranged normals is becoming really frustrating. His zoning game seems good and simply something that I’d need practice at, but when I’m trying to get in someone’s face and open them up there seems to be very little I can do. I have three main options to pressure it seems.
The first is fast j.b,j.b,j.S then land and follow into a ground string of some sort which allows for a launch of mixup. The issue with this is in some circumstances pretty terrible range tends to make it whiff, and also on a lot of characters it’ll completely whiff over the top of them, so it seems close to useless on a more than a few of the cast members.
The other one I tend to go for is simply his ripper dash (F+H) command normal which can be followed with either a launch or some sort of trap which may allow me to set something up. This is pretty slow and even though is moves him forward it seems to lack a bit of priority compared to a bunch of other normals.
A third method to open them up is storm style fast float into instant over-head, but again with the lacking range it seems incredibly hard to get to point blank and set this up without taking a hit in the process. I can lock them in place with oil fire or perhaps hidden missiles from time to time to open them up, but it’s tricky to do while being rushed down and trying to keep people out.
I was curious if anyone has found good ways to pressure and keep people locked down with the coon because it’s the first time I’ve ever used a character like this in fighting games so his whole play style (partly the fast, low health, low damage thing but to another extent the traps part of his game) is an entirely new concept to me. Any input or advice on how to not suck terribly with him would be great.
Specifically good ways to safely set up traps and the oil puddle for lock-down would be handy
FYI my team is Rocky(log), Hawkeye(greyhound), Doom(Missiles)
Well I don’t know if I’m the one to trust, but if you changed Doom’s missiles for plasma beam, you could get easy burrow mixups. Also I’m finding that the majority of my combos are actually coming from a log trap hitconfirm. If you actually get in, stay in and overhead. I play more zone heavy though so I just rocket skate in when i get that log trap and then keep pressuring.
Not sure how pivotal Doom’s missiles are to your game, but plasma beam is a nice guaranteed left/right/high/low mixup.
I’ve wondered about the missiles assist a little. It does allow for some teleport mixup, although maybe not as strongly as plasma beam so I do appreciate the thought. I should maybe try it out since it’d maybe allow for more hawkeye ragtime shots. Missiles also locks down more for rocky’s fast overhead, but yeah…think I’ll see how the plasma beam works out. I think it’ll depend on how close rocky appears next to dudes after burrow to see if he is in range for the fast over-head and such.
