Heroes World Thread (Toronto/York/Markham) CASUALS EVERY WEDNESDAY

Thanks Chowwun! At the moment, I’m soo strapped for cash that I’m considering selling my stick for the 360 Qanba 3 version since I’ve been putting much more time on the 360 version of SSFIV.
I dunno stick insides but could you tell from this picture?
The one concern I have is that it’s wireless but then again, the case is made out of wood plus there’s a blank button on the side(either a sync button for the 360 controllers or something else).

Marking the 16th on my calender, been wanting to come but because of stuff happening. Wednesdays are my usual days for work now while Saturdays are free for me…
My friend wants to find a method for me to go with on a wednesday so he can learn his match ups because he doesn’t play online lol.

On my way to work, I get off at Steeles from the Warden, I dunno how the extra fare thing works but I assume that you load another fare when it gets to that plaza with T&T Supermarket.

If my eyes don’t deceive me, there’s a good chance that it’s a common ground PCB. It being a wireless stick shouldn’t matter. The only thing you’d have to do is connect the buttons to the X360 PCB contacts. Then fish the controller wire out of the box. You can use the neutrik gender changer to make the job more clean.

Sweet! Can I get a quote from you? Hopefully it will not be Arcade Power’s quote of $130(The owner did not mention anything about a common ground, just taking the board out and replacing it with the 3 main pieces…).

I know I am currently piss broke(the bad habit and the anime stuff are sucking my wallet dry) but I would possibly love to do it ASAP when I get the cash, as you probably noticed, I haven’t been on PSN for the longest time except for today to test out the stick(3.50 firmware) and it works just fine.

lol, I will have a half tourney legit stick since the 360 dual mod will be wired while the PS3 is wireless…sadness~

I’ve been playing pad too long, time to make a switch! But I will probably have to pad it through the tourney(most likely coming)…I can either bring the PS2 pad + Converter + wired 360 controller or hopefully Jon will have pads lol.

So by, TTC, I get off at warden station, then take the 68B and stop where?

I’ll be bringing a bunch of open box sticks for people to check out including TE’s, TE-S, EX-SE, Hori Wireless, Blazblue CS Hori JP, and more!

SSFIV TE-S sticks, Tekken 6 HRAP’s, Mad Catz Pads and more will be in abundance available for sale at both casuals and the tourny.

I still don’t understand how this swiss style thing works, anyone care to simplify it for me

i might come to the tourney… if i get better

HWY 7. You’ll see a plaza right at the intersection there(Futureshop, Mcdonalds, other restaurants and etc…), I think Heroes World is in the middle 2 shops down from a Pizza Pizza?

It won’t be that expensive. If I do a dual mod with an empty case, it’ll be like $130 haha.

Here’s a quote for you:

$40 for fightpad + $50 for labour/misc stuff. I’ll make the modifications to your case accordingly. So I’ll do the job for $90.

You won’t need an Imp. If you want a more clean interface, the gender changer is like $10 for a total of $100. This makes the USB cable detachable from your case so you can carry the cable apart from the case. This is a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.

I’ll have to make sure that your stick is common ground first though. Bring the stick and I’ll crack it open to confirm. If it isn’t there isn’t anything I can do about it unfortunately. =(

Cool, maybe by the 16th(the tourney day), I’ll hope to be there and have both the monies and stick for you to check out. Any ideas to what the blank button can be used for on the side(there’s a extra 24mm button that isn’t hooked up to anything lol).

I assume that there’s a button for start, select and guide?

I guess there can also be a button for sync? I’m not sure if your case has one either =P.

If anything else, you can remove the button and slap in a neutrik gender changer LOL.

I think this is why wireless controllers are banned from major tournaments… lol. But it’s all good, there’s no limitations on the type of controller that one can use at the HWs tourney.

i dont know where u live exactly or where ur starting pt is, but the warden bus (the 68) starts at bloor-danforth stn. so take a bus that intersects with warden and get on the 68B.

I don’t go to any major tourneys unfortunately(ones which uses EVO rules) so hopefully I’m fine, it would just be better if the both compatibility were wired lol then I don’t have to worry about losing the USB dongle.

Button layouts? Standard 8-face buttons(30mm), six 24mm buttons(3 on each sides; Start, Select, Home then Turbo, Mode and Blank), on/off switch on the top with a USB port(for charging).

I live at Sheppard and Warden, the Warden buses are usually 68(I think it goes starts from the Warden station down to Steeles then goes back up to the Warden station) and 68B which requires extra fare north of Warden(not sure if the bus pulls into a the plaza to change drivers but it’s best to ask the driver how it works, they’re usually kind). I’m sure you can get off HWY.7 since it is a intersection(it’s not really a highway).

What’s the mode button for? Like LS, DP, RS for the stick?

I’m not sure why there’s another button that does nothing…

Thanks syn13. appreciated. hope to face you there. ill be the guy using a 360 controller lol, maybe if i can tryout a fightpad, ill ask omega.

it’s a format that was developed for large Chess tournaments i believe. but it’s basically pits together players with the same record…so if your in the tournament and you’ve won 2 games and lost 1…you’ll most likely play a player with the same record. So in the end we’ll have an overall ranking, and it will also take into account how good your opponent was (so if you played the winner or other players that did well it will be reflected in the standings). You don’t have that 2nd chance like in double elimination style tourney, but you can loose a game and still do well…but most likey the winner will be the player that goes undefeated. Reason for this format is it gives a nice indication of where everybody stands, and it’s alot faster and easier to organize than the double elimination format with winners and losers brackets. I’ll try the format out this time and if ppl don’t like it, i’ll switch to the more popular double elimination format. It’s the style that we use for all our card and miniature game tourneys here, so i would like to give it a shot at least. hope ppl are willing to give it a go!

haha, just come out! it’s so much more fun playing offline! i’m sure you’ll be able to thrash me!

yep, we’re pretty much in the corner of the L shaped line of shops. Thanks to everyone helping with the public transit info, i’m totally unfamiliar with it!

i just got word that our distributor (OMEGA) will be lending us a madcatz fightpad to use during the oct 16th tourney, so you should be good. We also sell the Hori fightpad which is really nice!

yeah, special thanks to our distributor for hooking us up with tons of stuff for the tourney!! So far they’ll be lending us some Hori RAP sticks for use with both xbox and ps3 and hosts of other stuff for the tourney date! so if anybody want’s to try out different sticks now is a great time! also we’re stocked up on almost all styles of sticks and pads (including femme fatale tourney stick!!) and all kinds of fighter games for multiple systems, i’ll post some prices and pics later!

oh he also said he might have some of those Sega Saturn PC pads lying around too! so if anyone needs to replace their pad let me know and i’ll get the price for you!

K im coming to this tourney cause i live so close

tell fadi to come john! i havent seen him in a while

Sweet news! No worries PadWarrior, I’ll be on a PS2 pad lol!
About my stick chowwun, there just left it as a blank button, nothing is connected and there is no label for it.

I’ve never used the fight specific pads, looks weird but useful with the 6 face buttons and only two triggers.
