This sounds like a good set-up. You seem really dedicated coolasice, which is great to see. I live right near your shop too. Got a question for this mini-tourney: is it at-the-door sign up at 1:00 pm? I’d really like to show up for this, online play is getting crusty and I’ve never really been ‘in’ my own TO SF Scene even though I’ve been playing for years, aiming to compete. Thanks.
EDIT: Is it possible you have something like casuals set up or can set up casuals on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend? Sorry but I just found out it’s all I have available, pretty disappointed I won’t be able to make the mini-tourney.
Everybody writes who their main and alt is on a paper and submits it to you or something. That way theres a record of uses who and there wont be any counterpicking.
Thanks! i’m trying whatever i can, hopefully players enjoy it! the Thanksgiving weekend saturday is taken up by another event…but perhaps i can do something on one of the other days, perhaps a sunday or possibly monday, as i assume most ppl are off then…i’ll see what my personal commitments are first and see what i can do
awesome! i’ll check my pm now!
ah…but your forgetting the beauty of 2nd game during the match…where you have to guess…“will my opponent switch to their alternate? what if he sticks with main?” “does my alternate counter both their main and their alternate?”
i think it’s a pretty cool concept…adds another element to the tournament
this isn’t mtg, and this counter picking stuff isn’t the same as sideboarding. If you’re worried about people counter picking, either inform people that they’re allowed to request for blind pick (one person tells a judge what character they’re going to pick, the other one selects his character on screen, then the first person picks the character that he told the judge he’s picking), or do character lock.
@coolasice: Nice, anything during that weekend would be really intriguing. If your personal schedule has openings let us know so we can make it for the set. Talk to ya’ll later, thanks again.
Iv just moved here form the UK. so i thought id drop a message on this thread. I used to go to torneys in Bristol uk. Ill probably drop by one of your sessions if its cool. im by no means the best ssf4 player but it would be nice to meet sf plays in TO. :karate:
Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster. Im an 18 year old college student going to humber living in woodbridge, but im def gonna try and hit this up for casuals on the 6th. Im mostly a xbl player, never been to any major venues or tournies beside some pax events or the like. Really looking forward to having that in the room feel of street fighter that im missing from playing on xbl, i just hope im not too scrubby and get wiped out by the competition.
Haha… don’t worry about skill level not being up to par. We’re all here to better our skills at the game. The most important thing is we learn something from when we play and have a good time. =)
omg thx so much
so I finally got it
can you do me a favor seeing as how my 360 is currently red
can you plug your 6axis into the 360 and turn it on and see if it works
without the wired 360 controller and no ps2 controller
because I’ve heard it recognizes the ps3 6axis without the wired 360 controller
but only on start up
If anyone is planning to get their stick dual modded, let me know. I will be able to help you out. Meeting up at the HW casuals (or tourney) is a great time for me to pick up the sticks to work on. =)
I’ll let you know tomorrow because I should be sleeping by now(losing precious sleep lol). From what the owner instructed me on the converter is that I had to plug in the converter, then my wired 360 controller and finally, the PS2 controller so that the converter can read the 360 controller then trick it into thinking the PS2 controller is the 360 pad.
Anyway, I’ll let you know since I gotta go pick up Front Mission Evolved tomorrow(gotta load up my PS3 one of these days).
I would but my stick is a wireless stick(Qanba), I think the only way is pretty much just dump the entire insides installing the PS3 and 360 PCB but that would be too expensive…I should just look into a Hori RAP VX for my 360…
nothing really, just thought it’d be more fun…and when i post tourney results ppl can see what characters were used more easily…but if people don’t dig it, i’m willing to drop the whole idea
i don’t wanna lock to ONE character for sure, i’d like to see at least one main and alternate or alternates i guess…but i’ll ask around during casuals to see what ppl think and officially state the full details of the mini tourney a week before it happens (this includes prize structure, door prizes, etc)
looks like posting in advance has gotten more time for ppl to respond…hope to see most of you come out!
