I have only been playing for 3 days so still a few things I need to get better at and cleanup.
So I checked out the haunted mines replay, I didn’t really see any op strats/synergy, I just saw a really terrible red team. Raynor on the red team was a bot, and not an AI bot, but one of the third party hack bots people run for gold/xp/account levels. He stayed in lane, followed scripted routines, never attacked anything but minions even when theres a hero fight next to him, etc. Chen was bad too, kept chasing with low life into 2-3 heroes and dying. At one point ,chen went into the mines, and did 1-2 full laps around the place when there wasn’t a single mob even spawned or near spawning. They let you get a 75 skull golem and barely defended against it, again because chen was in mines and ranyor bot was in bottom lane. Brightwing tried to solo take the giants at like level 6 and got owned, no teammates came to help her lol.
Basically, you guys played as a team, and they didn’t. Thats why you won in 10 minutes, I dont see anything on the lost vikings/lili combo playing a part. You could have been any 2 heros playing as a team and getting the same results : )
the sky temple game is funny too… your friend playing the vikings is pretty bad, lol. “I’m split laning” then sends 1 viking to mid while the other 2 sit afk until the one gets mid, then the other 2 go bot for a bit. Mid viking stays behind the wall where it gets no xp, until a few minutes later and then brings all 3 bottom lane anyway. If you don’t play RTS then lost vikings are really hard to play properly. But the reason you win this one, is the other team is acting odd… almost like they’re all bots or something lol. At one point, after the top temple was taken, the entire team afks theres doing nothing. Same after the bottom temple was taken? After each death all 5 take a long time before coming back into the fight, they sit in base for a long time. They tend to stand aorund idle a lot… I mean honestly it feels like what I’d expect 1 person multiboxing 3 characters at a time would do. Im pretty sure a few of them are bots like that raynor last game. Kael and ETC specifically. Both were pushing bot lane and ignoring the temple to kt could idle in lane and ETC could solo take a camp lol. ETC ignores low hp heroes to just auto target the closest one to him.
Also this game is a more standard 15 minutes. And again, you win by working as a team and not being plagued by bots lol.
So unfortunately, I don’t see any sort of “think outside the box” op combos, but 2 players working reasonably well together against really bad teams. Put any 2 heroes together and you’d have success like this.
So I am approaching 20,000 gold (I didn’t buy Sylvanas yet). However as a ftp player I am worried, does the player level up rewards dry up eventually? You need 10 heroes to join hero league, and while I am not in a rush to get there I don’t want to close it off forever due to poor gold spending.
On the otherhand there is no point in buying heroes you are lukewarm about, I’d rather buy the heroes I love to play as. I loved Rehgar and Sylvanas…that is close to all of my current gold on those two if I go forth with buying them. Anyways ftp spending advice anyone?

After you hit 40 and level heroes to 5, the gold gain is really slow. If you plan to stay completely f2p then the 10k heroes are a lot to invest in. How much is rhegar these days?
Rhegar is 7000 gold currently. Since you said ‘these days’, does that mean that hero pricing changes?
Yeah, rhegar was 10k for awhile, and zagara used to be 7k too. It’s always 15k at launch, then 10k a week or two later. Then a few have dropped to 7/4k… There’s no real rhyme or reason to it I don’t think, I believe they want it kind of based on how hard they are to play more than anything
If you want to max out your character screen, you can get 5 characters for 10k. There are a bunch of 2k and 4k characters, you have to have 10 chars to play Ranked as is. I only have 6 atm because I bought Brightwing.

If you are going with pure gold and want your ten chars while still being competitive, I would recommend.
-E.T.C., Valla, Malfurion, Li Li, Anub’arack, Illidan, Tassadar, Muradin, then whatever cheaper characters you want. At minimum you are looking at spending 28,000 Gold in total.
Edit: Please for the love of bacon don’t get Gazlowe, just no, so bad. Unless you like playing SF 4 Dee Jay level characters.
I am really close to dropping 10k on brightwing, but I may wait for her sale week so I can get her + monkey skin together (crossing my fingers)

Diablo and Uther are on sale this week, I shouldn’t have done it because now I can’t play Hero league but damn is she good.
I’ll probably get Uther, he looks fun and I loved him in WC3.

I don’t think either should be nerfed, they are both difficult chars to play and aren’t broken just good. You risk making them useless for their difficulty.
The lost Vikings get huge talent tier shifts, including jump going to level 13
Bw gets a lot of stuff shifted around and some new talents. She loses gust, the heal on her d, which is a big change.

Would appreciate any experienced expert breaking down what these changes mean in the larger scheme of things. So far Sylvanas and Reghar were my favorites…how will the changes effect them? (Reghar’s seem especially harsh). Thoughts on Illidan changes?
