I’m really curious if any of these cards are going to provide new moves for characters. Like, I think I saw Nightcrawler in the trailer so I was thinking perhaps some sort of teleport. Maybe an airdash card.

I mean, I agree it’s unlikely, I’m just saying it could be pretty interesting. With one hundred initial cards, I think there’s going to be some creative things, so it was just a guess.
Actually during the video, the nightcrawler card caused Nova to do a mini teleport. It may seem to replace his dash but unsure. Still he teleported.
The X card allows an airdash which also in the video grants hulk an airdash.
I doubt they’ll be able to give the characters an actual new move like a fireball for Haggar (or maybe a generic fireball? lol)
But it seems mobility and status wise they can add things.
I recall people finding air dash animation for certain characters in the vanilla code. That could come back as a card, I guess.
Interesting. I’ll have to look again, I didn’t really pay full attention when I was watching the trailer. Thanks for the heads. But yeah, I agree that it’d be very unlikely that there’s something like that generic fireball.
Though I’m calling it now, there’s going to be a card that’ll cause messed up controls like Modoks bomb thingie.
I think that depending on how stupid/broken the other aspects of this mode are it will, if nothing else, illustrate how bad an idea a burst mechanic would be in this game.
You can go back and watch earlier builds of the game being demo’d. Characters like Ryu and She Hulk had an air-dash.
I remember the E3 2009 build (I miss certain things about it). It’s possible everybody in vanilla had an air dash animation. I place emphasis on that because what Capcom will certainly not do with these cards is draw all new animation for any ability.

The taunt button. Imagine this:
Morrigan Card - Using taunt will increase your Hyper by 1/3 of a bar.
Elena Card - Using taunt will increase your life by 1/3 of a bar at the expense of one Hyper meter.
Mecha Zangief Card - Using taunt will give you permanent Hyper armor but eliminate the ability to block for one Hyper meter.
Yun Card - Taunt for Genei Jin.
Also, I hope there’s a Dark Phoenix Card that makes all your normals shoot out Phoenix feathers. c.L spam for everyone! Also hope there is a card that makes whiffed normals/specials build meter.
A more serious question: Will it be possible to set up your cards before each match? In the videos, it seems like you set them up outside of the main game, and you are only given a choice of pre-selected sets of three after character selection. I REALLY hope this isn’t the only way. It would make tournament play (yes, I would totally pay to play a tournament for this mode) such a fucking hassle.

Co-signed. It took me a while to realize it was her, but I was quite happy to see there will be a Nina card (and my favorite version, at that; BoF2 Nina). Now I really can run a deck of her ‘all day erry day’ as I joked about on page 1. This is a very encouraging sign that BoF isn’t forgotten. All I can hope for from here is that they’ll add her as a DLC character; that would be awesome. If not though, oh well… I am basically 95% happy with the playable UMvC3 roster as is.

Except for Amaterasu, she’s already too hard to hit.
Really hoping for an Odin/OdinForce card, nearly have an Asgardian set with the Destroyer armour and Loki.
As long as there’s a card that makes everyone’s jump be low flight mode like MODOK, I’ll be fine.
