lol u funny. my taste buds are outta wack and you just posted this? rofl. orange or mountain dew? ugh.
I’ve been inspired by this thread to go cold turkey again. I was without soda for like 2 or 3 years, then I started drinking them again when I got out here to the desert, every now and then. But I’m just going to sub juice instead of soda and get back on the healthy track. Today is Day 2. If I can make it a few more weeks, then I will be golden.
Oh Shi? I’m gonna shave my head bald!
lol at people thinking soda is not bad for you. Its like those same people I met in high school saying smoking isnt bad for you. You should research for your self and see why its not good it have sugar all the time
Bolding for “tries to be ironic, but is actually an accurate assessment of the situation.”
There are a number of factors–far more plausible, and backed up with actual, independently-confirmed evidence–to explain the increase in cancer cases. That’s even discounting the improvement in our ability to recognize and treat it.
Yeah, cancer and consumption of food that’s been tinkered with by science might co-vary together. You know what else co-varies together? My age and the price of a barrel of oil. The size of the average computer hard drive and the size of the average entree at a restaurant. The number of people diagnosed with AIDS and the number of people who use the Internet. Arguing that any of these things influences any other just because they show an evident statistical link is pretty misguided.
There’s real proof that soda is bad for you.
Saying that drinking something that’s been proven to be bad is the same as eating something that hasn’t been proven to be bad are the same thing is just… what’s the word?
Sound like an exaggeration. All of that soda would dehydrate you and very few normal people would even enjoy drinking more than 5 or 6 a day. 15?, I don’t even know how many cups of sugar that is. Is that what you washed the sticks of butter down with?
It was all DIET soda, and thats definitely not an exaggeration.
Since it was all i ever drank + the dehydration factor of sodas keeps one thirsty + and i just love them also, its easy to see.
diet is just as bad as regular soda. it just taste shittier.
lol at 15 cans a day Id be happy if I had a 20oz bottle everyday. this is like twice a week kinda deal for me.
How much of a fat ass do you need to be in order to stop eating or drinking something? This shit isn’t rocket science.
I think that number is different for everyone. Mine is 240 pounds. When I was younger that number was lower. I think that everyone has " how much of a fat ass " number they need to be in order to stop.
Wow. Spoken like a true newb who has no idea what he is talking about.
While i maintain that health & fitness is the EASIEST damn thing one can do to improve their life, and the majority have no excuses but their own lack of knowledge and the WILL to do what must be done…
Still, its not as simple as just “not eating”. In fact not eating ENOUGH will turn someone into a fatass just as quickly.
How do you get fat from not eating enough?
Because your body grows accustomed to storing food as fat when it finally does get food.
Yeah man, soda will fucking kill you, anyone that drinks that stuff is an idiot.
BRB gonna go outside for a smoke then head down to my local bar.
I could totally go on a 2-hour lecture explaining this alone. Long story short though:
Its survival instinct. When you don’t eat enough, the body starts to think food is getting scarce and freaks out, going into “starvation mode”. So the few times you do eat during the day, it will HORDE all of the fat it can from that and not give up an ounce unless it absolutely has too.
In addition to being as power efficient as possible, it will not only horde fat but also resort to doing things it normally would not do for energy. Such as breaking down and burning muscle(catabolism) instead. So besides getting fatter you’re also causing other health problems for yourself on the side.
Example: At one of my previous jobs i used to have a boss who was quite the workaholic. She wondered why she was getting fat, despite only having time to eat once, MAYBE twice a day. Thats why.
One should get plenty of little meals thoughout, or at least 3-4 decent meals consistently everyday(breakfest, lunch, dinner, etc). Keeping the metabolism cranking, letting the body know that food is in good supply and that it can relax.
Any fool out there who attempts starvation for weightloss will fail. Even if they do succeed at first, it won’t be long before the body catches on and completely slams the breaks on fatloss.
An easy way to think of this is like money in the bank. Whenever you are doing well, a person tends to relax and spend a bit more often. Once that account number starts to get a bit low however, “oh shit!” we start to conserve then as much as possible, and only spend on things we NEED. Once we get a nice amount of money again and that feeling of scarcity is over, then we relax and are comfortable with spending a little more than usual again.
I’ve heard similar explanations like that before, but I’ve also seen reports of studies that concluded that calories per day was the only apparent significant factor in determining weight gain, so I’m skeptical. Anecdotally, anyone I’ve known who has cut calories per day lost weight.
My post was only about the subject of starvation and the consequences of not eating enough, which is all true. And can easily be displayed just by the way any such attempts to lose fat by starving oneself will be met with failure.
If this was not the case, then any fool out there would be able to drop all the pounds they want simply by not eating. As stated before though its not that simple. The human body is not like a car that will run out of fuel at a consistent, unchanging rate. It will fight and adapt its energy expenditures accordingly depending on the situation it is faced with, in order to survive for as long as possible.
I’m betting this is also why when you see pictures of starving people in poor countries, many of them despite being so sickly thin, will still have those little pooch bellies. Probably because their bodies in a desperate attempt for survival, have burned off a lot of its own muscle mass & probably a little bone to use for energy, and are clinging to those fat deposits for dear life.
Anyway health & fitness is a big thing for me. I not only live & breath this stuff, but everything i say are beliefs I’ve applied directly to my own life. Its not just some things i “heard”, this is from my own experiences from years of trial and error while learning the game.
ok that makes sense, and certainly its not uncommon for people desperate to lose weight to grossly overadjust their diet and just starve themselves.
why do bulimics get so skinny then? is it cuz they trick their body into thinking its eating a lot, therefore losing weight, then throwing it up, losing even more weight? i know some skinny ass chicks that go to the bathroom after every meal for twenty minutes.
edit: they barf in the bathroom.
I was drinking lots of pop til last week or something. Then I just stopped. Shit’s bad for you, good incentive. Juice, beer, water, tea.
