There are many flavors of soda out there. Get tired of regular? Drink Cherry. Tired of cherry? Drink Cherry Vanilla. Tired of that particular brand? There are quite a few others to choose from with their own distinct flavors.
Rinse and repeat, alternating between them all. One month i’m a diet coke guy, then Diet pepsi the next, then Diet Dr.Pepper afterwards, then back to Diet Coke again, etc.
naw that’s not enough variety for me. still too close with the diet cola flavor. and I’d definitely get sick of the feeling you have of only drinking diet colas blech
Get into juices, man. They taste goooooooooood! As for water, I’m paying for big bottles for my dispenser. I guess the bill is good motivation! I’m thinking the same idea could apply to getting a membership at a workout center.
I was addicted to Coke & Pepsi for the better part of 10 years only drinking at most 1 glass of water at night. Eventually I got a serious case of GERD and was ordered to stop by my doctor. I started drinking watered down juice (like 20% juice mixed with 80% water for a hint of flavor) for a while to break the addiction and to get into the habit of drinking water. It worked for the most part.
I’ve tried going cold turkey as well and that doesn’t work for everybody. Its better if you just try and taper it off because the cravings will be satisfied, but at the same time you are lowering the intake of soda you take in. That’s what they do with people who are addicted to Narcotics like heroin. The body and mind won’t always agree with “just giving it up” so you just have to lower your intake of it, until you no longer need it.
Starting with “X” amount of pop you drink a day and go for lesser a day, then go for maybe 1 soda a day, then maybe one soda every other day. My parents don’t even buy pop anymore because both my mom and dad stopped drinking it, so I actually have to go out of my way if I want to drink it now.
If you can find something else that can satisfy that sweet tooth, I’d recommend that too. Maybe powdered gatorade or some kind of tea.
I’m still on the quest to quitting it, but its very tough.
good source of info sir! thanks! and yes, it is mostly due to health since my hypothyroidism has messed up my metabolism, so its harder to burn all those calories from soda.
If you want to get in reasonable shape(Assuming you are somehow out of shape) consuming 5, 6, 7 or more cans of pop a day could feasibly hold you back since pop is a sugar bomb. All that sugar goes str8 to the gut. In the grand scheme a pop a day probably wouldn’t do anything if you are actually working to get in shape, but going through liters a day will add up.
i stopped over a year ago cold turkey and havent touched the shit since. you stop the cravings for it like 2 weeks in. its not that hard after that. you’ll want to drink water more and more once you start.
