Help against E.Honda

Two online friends of mine battling it out.

Juri player has to :
_Focus buttslams (especially when the previous one was crossup). If not sur about where Honda will land, use teleport instead.
_Stop trying to punish buttslams with cr.MK : Honda get enough time to jump or re buttslam. Related to previous point.
_Work on his punishes when he avoids doskoi with a jump ; 1st move : whiffed throw; 2nd : cr.HK. Potential damage and conditionning lost : insane.
_Not use random neutral jumps at a distance where Honda can punish the falling down by a doskoi.

BTW I like how the juri’s player intercept Honda’s jumps with j.HK, simple and efficient. I miss to use simple strategies sometimes…

Not related to the Honda’s matchup : try to avoid using fuhajin FADC cr.MP, where cr.HP connects ; cr.MP is 6f startup and cr.HP 7f startup, you transform a 3f link into a 4f one - what barely change anything - and lose 30dmg (about 20 with damage reduce). If you really want to use a move with a better speed/damage ratio because of lag or whatever, use cl.MP instead of cr.MP : 3f startup, gives you a 8f link for same damages.

i tried to LOL, like, agree and give you insightful points but could only have one :frowning: this thread is retarded btw.

Ofc is it, t’s opened by someone who need to handle some basic stuff - a matchup at a quite beginner level. Everyone try to help him, we won’t go on something tricky.

How to play the matchup:

  • Be the best Juri in the world

Round1:

  • Fail to zone him and be on same life + in the corner 30 seconds in
  • Pray your opponent is retarded

Round2:

  • Play a perfect round
  • Fail one thing, lose

Round3:

  • Completely fail to zone him
  • Gamble and get lucky

Indeed it is.

Showcases well that you have to take retarded risks, can’t really zone him, can’t AA him at all, and can lose the match off a single mistake.
Just play like the best Juri in the world and you too can sometimes win against a Honda that does nothing but stupidly jump around! Yay.
Looks like a top matchup to me. 7-3 for Juri, minimum.

This thread is fucking retarded.

The Honda matchup isn’t a science, you don’t have to make 80-line posts about it.
It boils down to how well can you zone him with fireballs and read his attempts to jump over them.
Only use lk fireball when he has walked, mk for general zoning and hk for straight jumps.
Stay in his lp headbut range because that’s where c.hp wins as an anti-air.

That’s literally ALL you do in the matchup, if you fail you most likely lose fast.

Saying “you can’t” puts you into a losing mindset. I prefer to grind out a match and find out what to do in certain situations. It’s definitely not a walk in the park for either Juri/Honda.

See Vulpes…my posts werent so bad in hindsight.

If her counter could bypass amror and 1f startup this MU would be 8-2 Juri’s favor easily. I see it right now as 6-4 honda’s favor.

this thread is retarded if we talk about a rushdown juri or counterpicking e.honda…

Yes because counterpicking a 3.5 matchup (which means actually learning another character and not going full dakou) is absolutely not viable at all. Probably the most retarded strategy in a serious tournamentsituation ever. Hell why the fuck would I come even up with such a retarded idea.

Screw counterpicking.

Counterpicking is part of the game, deal with it.

Only because the game has some horrendous match ups

I didn’t mean it in a mean way. I just said it. Go in go hard.

I’m facing a honda player almost everyday offline ever since I started maining Juri on SSF4… I had a rough time dealing with him at first, But now I can win more games than him by just playing very solid… I didn’t knew it was a bad match up until now. but I still think that Juri is very well balanced to have bad match ups…

or maybe I got used to his honda?..

you got use to his Honda.
play another one that is as good as your pal.

Doesn’t change the fact that counter-picking is part of the game.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to play Juri without having a sub to cover her worse matchups.

Actualy right now Juri isn’t fit to be played as a main, but she works for counter pick purposes as a sub.

Ok, I’m really curious about this match up. What makes it so bad for Juri ? I main Honda and I just don’t understand why honda is so terrible for Juri.
Granted, Juri is a character that I very seldomly see at high level, so my understanding of this match up is limited.

Regardless, there are a couple of things that don’t make sense to me. I see a lot of juris are complaining that they “can’t open up Honda”.
Doesn’t Juri have a fireball ? doesn’t she have a solid zoning game ? Honda has a lot of trouble against fireball zoning characters, so I don’t understand why Juri can’t zone Honda.

One thing that Zangief and Honda share is that both of them are eaten alive by fireball zoners. Akuma, Guile, Sagat, Ryu, Chun Li, Dhalsim, Gouken, all of them are bad matches for both gief and Honda.
But in Juri’s case, things are very strange - she supposedly destroy Zangief, while in the mean time is destroyed by Honda.

Again, my understanding of Juri is very limited, but from outside:

Juri has a solid fireball, and Honda has very poor options to bypass fireballs. Juri should be able to zone honda effectivelly and take a lifelead early. His headbutts are invalidated by the fireball (Hbs don’t have enough fb invincibility so can’t pass through fbs, not even the Ex Hb).
From a quick look, Juris antiairs are at least decent - cr Mp and cr Hp both have good hitboxes, and are fast enough. And there is also Ex Senpusha, that has some invincibility (even if it doesn’t cover the active frames, it should be enough in most cases). Finally, her jump Mp is also great air to air.
So, if Juri’s zoning game is on point, she should be able to keep Honda out and win the match.
Even more, Honda has poor kd options and bad okizeme, so he can’t capitalyze on one of Juri’s main weaknesses - her bad wakeup.

One thing that Honda has in this match is dmg. He has a couple of character specific combos that deals huge dmg (his main bnb deals ~300 dmg for 1 bar against juri). But I’m not sure this is enough to make this match that bad.

On theory Juri should have the tools to fight honda, so where is the problem ?

The problem lies within bad players that like to bitch, moan and want to be spoon fed answers rather than practice and improve. The problem areas of the matchup are a) Headbutt goes over her low fireball (same as Sagat) and she can’t punish any of them well, so she has to throw mid fireballs all day which don’t hit crouchers. This enables him to walk forward, crouch the fireball rinse and repeat. b) His jumping strong beats most of her anti airs. It’s in his favour but it’s not stupid - I don’t care to talk about numbers as such anymore anyway.
