Help, advice

Obviously you only put up your best videos so I wouldnt comment. Anyways I will bite.

Ranked 14 Vs Ken
Adon is called the Shoto-Killer mainly because he nullifies the most basic tool of their arsenal, the hado-ken (the fireball) however he can also shut down their hurricane kick and dragon punch although the latter requires the timing to be right. Out of all the shotos though, I consider Ken to be the toughest and this was before AE mainly because he relied on his fireball game less and his dp was awesome. One thing I will point out particularly in this match up is to watch out for the double dps. At 0:39-40 this Ken performed his first dp wave and looking at 0:58-59 he tried it again but you stuffed it (which actually surprised me). Maybe I should just say watch out for dp happy Kens. They will stuff the rj seen at 1:38 even if you do it as a reversal.

One other note, keep in mind spacing for jk and this isnt to you in particular just making comments off your video. Ex travels almost same distance as mk jk and you can clear see this difference at 1:46 when you ex-jk him in the corner and 1:49 when you attempted to mk jk in the corner.

Finally nice finish. He was waiting on a jt but instead he got the ultimate punish for his dp spamming.

Ranked 15 Vs E. Ryu
Not too much to say here. Only thing I think I will mention is to avoid doing any jaguar tooth while in the corner while the opponent is mid to close range. I think we get punished for that one kinda often and its never fun to see what happened at 1:53.

Ranked 16 Vs Oni
One caveat about Adon’s style of Muay Thai is that knowing your spacing is crucial. By knowing your spacing, you can totally nullify your opponents attack and counter attack simultaneously (like how we were using jt and ex jt back in super without invincibility). I open with that to say this: I think the Oni match up is actually an interesting one. For those who have tried Oni (and if you havent I suggest you do) you will notice that he has a lot of normals and particularly 2 or three that actually allows him to controls space. Two in particular in the back of my mind are f+fp (he stretches his palm to hit opponent + it negates fireballs) and f+rh (he does a high rh kick that can anti air and if it hit airborne opponent sends them across screen).

As for this match, the Oni player, in my opinion is not yet familiar with that character. I would actually go as far to say he played Oni as if he was Akuma just trying to use his specials as gimmicks. Oni specials are good, but I think he has normals which can create a problem for Adon. I could be wrong, and I was only screwing around with Oni in Arcade mode this morning to see intro and ending but I would be cautious against Oni players in future, especially the ones who utilize his normals.

PS nice finish. It was like flying off into the sun at the end…

Thankyou for the analysis, much appreciated. I don’t just put up the best replays tho, I like to mix it up for example there is numerous vids of me losing, also numerous vids of me winning but playing absolutely shocking lol (i.e the guile match off the top of my head). I do agree with the oni not being familiar with a) the char yet or b) the matchup.
@ eben Thankyou for the dazzle advice,I shall try that on my next uploads and see what the results are like. Also thanks for following me too, I dont really upload the ones to YT that get uploaded on AE. I did however mean add me as in FR not following lol. just if you wanted some matches

Tiger in the beginning, I was joking…

Also no need for the thanks. I enjoy watching the vids and have watched all up to this point. I am following this thread just to see when new vids come out. This is what I call Jaguar Pride.

I shall try to upload alot more then. Altho I do need a new dpad to play on so untill it gets delivered the matches may not be very good lol

Wow - dpad? I would really struggle with the buttons these days… which pad do you play on?

Speaking of Jaguar Pride, here’s mine, nailing my colours to the mast…

Waiting for a yellow bezel to arrive!

Nice man, That has got to be one of the sweetest looking sticks I’ve seen. Unfortunately there is no Adon fightpad so this is mine http://i56.tinypic.com/4skx6w.jpg Being my 2nd favourite char (I tend to use him if Adon isn’t in the game) I thought i’d get this. Me personally I have 2 sticks, A femme fatale TE and a Blazblue Hori but I cant use a stick or even analogue to save my life lol.

Sweet stick man. Needs some Orange though…

Just do your best. I think that is what we all are trying to do.

I am on the PS3. Here is the pad I use.

Well I’ve uploaded some new matches, still tweaking with the quality settings so bare with me but i think the last few matches i found the right settings.

Hello, sorry for asking this here but it seems that no one checks out the FAQ question and answers thread anymore, I will check out your videos Tigermoggy but I cant comment on them because I am a new Adon, xD.

anyway my question was this:

when you are presuring your opponent and you do cr.lp, cr.lp and you see its blocked what do you do? end it with cr.mp xx JK or what?

Tiger, against Cody never use jaguar tooth except the short to provoke the zonk and punish with rj short, his zonk is very good against jk an jt, he can keep Adon from a distance with the far roundhouse, stone, ruffian kick and he has a great offense, I don’t really like this match-up, by the way i don’t really find this Cody very good, against a better you would eat zonk knucle.
Don’t use jt when your opponent is in the corner, it’s very too predictable.

Nice fight against Guile, patience is the key to get close patiently, imo this match-up is not very hard especially if the Guile doesn’t use his greats pokes like Prim.

Againts Rufus, I found you played too defensive, in the second round you get back for no reason, he was in the corner, you can zone and press him relatively easily and don’t jump, he has very good air to air and anti air.

For the mirror, some players uses revoler to punish every jt and jk which doesn’t hit, i prefer to stay on avalanche, during this match you get rushdown every time and you don’t punish his jt, if you see a jt do a neutral jump roundhouse.

I’ts me or you really like to beat Gouken, nothing special to say, you were good during this match.

The defensive part you mention I get told alot, but I cant seem to stop doing it lol. As far as gouken goes, he’s the only char I would actually rush down, to me there is nothing really to fear except that focus move thing. Maybe its just the goukens I run into tho lol. I hate adon mirrors, I would say its my worst match. I thought the cody wasn’t that good either, hence why I used jt so freely, he didnt seem to “bingo” it much like a lot of other codys do. Thankyou for the analysis and pointers tho, much appreciated [:

More Videos. Not doing all of them now as I am working on putting up some videos myself (finally) but lets take a look at the first 3.

Ranked 17 Vs Cody
Honestly I have always hated this match up. JT for the most part is ineffective as Cody can either zonk knuckle you out of it or just use his st mp. In addition, Cody can counter the jk (I think) with one of his kick normals as welll as the Ruffian kick. Cody also has some really nice frame traps. With that said, the cody in this match up wasnt that experienced with using those tools. You rushed him down which I wouldnt quite recommend for better Cody’s. Better to get in and then back out unless you already have the guy read.

Ranked 18 Vs Adon
Funny how I can say I hate the Cody match up and then come right back to say that this is yet another match up I hate. Then again I think a lot of people hate mirrors. The key here was patience. I really think you were nervous or really trying to get hits on him. You lost round 1 because you dropped your combo. In round 2, you missed the follow up st rh from the jt twice (inputing the button late at 1:34 then 1:44). I dont know if it was because he is the #9 Adon on ranked but something tells me that you were a bit flustered.

Ranked 19 Vs Seth
Seth. The Seth match up is not all that bad but the main problem lies with his srk and reset option. Like all srk’s they beat out your rj options and as for the reset, well you saw what happened between 0:44 and 0:54. When you get stuck in one of those, you really want to look at the combo and focus on blocking that next incoming string. Avoid pressing buttons as you might loose out in terms of frames and get stuck in another string. Pretty much the majority of your health was lost in that 10 seconds I highlighted above and thats kind of why you kinda have to watch what Seth is throwing at you to escape.

Another thing, after knocking down a Seth with Ultra (no matter 1 or 2), avoid at all costs following that up with anything. Why, you may ask. My answer? 1:49 -_- Yes I know its all in the moment with the follow up but trust me, there is no worse feeling knowing you could have won the match but lost due to Seth’s wake up Ultra which I think both were buffed in some way. What you should do is bait it. Dash up to sweeping distance and hold down back, maybe even lk jt when you get close just to put you back. Just dont put yourself in that Ultra’s range.

Round 3 is how the Seth match up should be played imo. I mean yes you can rush him down if your game is that good, but I think you should watch and see what he is coming with and counter appropriately. Be patient and block those little strings he has (2:36), avoid his vacuum which he will do to mess up the jk spacing and above all else protect your skies like a Russian.

Anyways finish off the rest later. Gonna finish up converting these vids and putting them up.

Looking at the frame data (which is known to have issues) the cr. MP in both SSF and AE have a 5 frame start up. What do you mean by a faster cr. MP?

Now that you mention it, I hadn’t heard of any news of it being changed at all. Just a bigger hitbox, which may make it easier to link (correct me if I’m wrong, I’m no frame data expert).

As for the link cr.lp > cr.lp > cr.mp > lk. rj --> is that even possible? You can link 3 cr. jabs into rj or cancel cr. strong into rj.

But that link pushes the opponent too far away for the lk.rj to hit, doesn’t it? Sorry I can’t test it, I don’t have access to Super or AE at the moment.

Put up some new vids, getting close to good quality, a few minor tweaks here and there and it should be good, i’ll upload some more tomorrow too.

Ok, uploaded a few more, I feel like I got the quality really good but I cant seem to get rid of the motion blurring or whatever it is (the weird grey shadows when they move) If anyone knows how to fix this I would appreciate it if you could let me know. thankyou

I like the replays you uploaded.

Also, I saw your Adon take on Rocky Balboa’s Balrog on SRK boards and the salty message…

Once Balrog has the life lead, the correct thing to do is to lay back on it and not recklessly go in. Playing lame was the correct thing to do imo.

The matchup is 6:4 in Rog’s favour. I’m no expert at Adon but it might be helpful to watch Justin Wong breakdown Adon/Rog matchup.

I like how he didn’t put up the msg which he sent first, before I even sent anything. Ah well, Guess he doesn’t want to expose himself. Rogs are easy to beat, if you stick to a plan like you said. I’ve just been playing ass the past few days lol.

Ranked 20 Vs Oni
I open this review with something I said earlier…

Not that this Oni is perfect, but he plays like Oni should imo. In the first round, you had control of the match and control of the field hitting Akuma right where you wanted him. However things change in that second round. The pace went to Oni and he controlled the space of the match. You tried backing up to make space but the Oni would not let that be. When he wanted in, he made his way in and although his fireballs dont travel full screen, he kept you out when he wanted. Round 3 didnt look too much better either but luckily U1 training proved useful to you and scored you the win.

Things of interest
0:43-0:45 Watch out for that fireball set up. Plus you were really low doing that jk which did not give you room to clear that fireball.
2:09-2:11 Watch how you retreat. Adon does not have block in the air and it sucks to get hit like that.
2:33-2:34 Since you did not do lk rj I guess you were out of range. I would have probably done FK but the knockdown was something you actually needed.
2:51-2:59 Watch out for that set up. The thing to remember here is that his slash does not have invincibility so you wanna rj the hell outta him. As for the slam, you want to block that. In battle its hard to tell which is coming but quite sure they will want to hit you with pound since they can get hit while in the slash (ex included).

Ranked 21 Vs Rufus
Round 1 = Airborne. I thought I was watching one of my matches from Super… :S
On a second look I got the impression that you are nervous of Rufus from dive kick spam (or maybe this is from the Yun army) but either way it looked like you were trying to read for the dive kick which just didnt come when you wanted it. Second round was much better. More grounded more controlled. You knew what you going in the air for which was way different than in round 1. Round 3 however I would play on a bit of impatience on your part. You had an opportunity to U2 but missed it due to the backdash, and got worried in the final seconds of the match. I would blame it on the dive kicks since those seem to make you be a bit off.

Things of Interest
1:16-1:24 Rufus might get you riled up but its important to control space as Adon. For these seconds in my opinion, you had that space controlled.
2:02-2:05 Because you were backing up so much after hitting him with the st rh, he didnt expect a follow up and thats why he was attempting to go back to footsies.
2:58-2:59 This made me wanna cry. You had Ultra 2. You had him popped up and you back dashed not expecting to get that hit.
3:13 You have to be patient and wait out Rufus dive kick spam. Only keep an eye out for the throw. Because you tried to jump away, you actually got caught in that last dive kick and thats what led to your demise.

Man, I really enjoy your little analysis posts (was reading your ones on evilsigh earlier)
In regards to the Oni match, i’m not totally comfortable with the match up yet. He has a lot of tools that I need to figure out so at this moment I’m basically winging it. As you said my ultra 1 training came in very handy and IMO got really lucky in winning.
With Rufus, I find it harder to deal with his DK than Yun (Yun is easily beaten with n.j.hk) They seem to come extremely fast and often, combine that with awkward angles and it gets me flustered lol. You were right about the backdash tho, I did not expect that to hit which possibly cost me the match (Not an excuse tho, the guy deserved his win) Thanks for the analysis, I shall try to work your suggestions into my game.
