So it’s a little over a week away and I just saw a preview to get me hype for more Gordon Ramsay shenanigans. So I wanted to jump on this thread.
Who’s watching this year? Season 8 was pretty dull I thought but I can’t stop now!
In the mean time any favorite past contestants? I think they should give the man-child Russel from last season another shot. He was too much. 
GOAT is still Rock, runner up is the swamp rat guy. Last season was pretty terrible. I wish they would get some competent cooks for once

I’m all about masterchef as well! Not really sure who I’m pulling for this season though.
Makes me wonder if ANY of these chefs that come on Hell’s Kitchen actually learn how to tell how well meat is cooked just be touching it. Hell, you could learn if it’s fucking COLD just by touching it.
I’m a chef. This show is indicative of everything I find wrong with people’s expectations of cooking.
I read Gordon’s biography and came upon a passage where he was talking about how he doesn’t like his cooks to laugh or joke in his restaurants because the work is too serious. GTFO with that horseshit. Cooking should be fun. And all his screaming is unnecessary - I’ve never screamed at someone in a kitchen in my life. It’s no way to treat people or run a business. People take a lot of shit in the restaurant industry that wouldn’t fly for a second in any other business - and I think that’s bullshit. The work is hot, hard, and publicly thankless - but it doesn’t have to be miserable.
^^ but thats the whole point of his show, its called hell’s kitchen for those reasons alone, taking cooks and chefs out of their element and putting them into that kind of workspace, every kitchen has different workers and practices of how things are done
in a normal kitchen of course that would not fly with people, it isnt boot camp its a work environment
everything on the show is rushed and the people on the teams are strangers so you have to work together and be in sync in order to produce something

I’m saying the perception of the public about working in a kitchen is unreasonable - and shows like this don’t help.This horseshit reinforces all the negative stereotypes of chefs, helps to perpetuate them, and justify their behavior. It’s incredibly damaging to my profession and the young cooks coming up in it.
It’s obvious you’re a cook and not a chef because you’ll know it’s just TV, enjoy it for it’s entertainment value. Donkey! lol

Last season was SO BAD. It got to the point where I skipped ahead when watching it on Youtube to the cooking parts, then skipped to the next episode.
A few years back, season 6, a contestant named Jim was on the show. This was the season with Dave (the stoner) and Kevin (the bald guy). Jim made a forum thread on cheapassgamer.com telling us how fake the show was. As in, one night he was cooking well 95% of the night, and during all that made only three very minor mistakes, which Gordon blew out of proportion for ratings.
According to him, those were three separate occasions, not one time frame. Heavily edited with random interviews and fluffed up by Ramsay and the production crew to appear like there’s some serious drama.
Fake as fuck show. How about Joseph, also in season 6? This dude has got to be an actor. No human can be this stupid.
