Ed,
How difficult would it be to replace the artwork ourselves? I’m guessing if we sent your template with our artwork to mamemarquees.com they would complete the order.

Its about the 4th time you asked this, probably should send them an e-mail.
I will change my recommendation and say the trim should be the same color as your buttons and joystick, except for chrome for black background art and gold chrome if it is black background art with metallic insignia.
It’s not easy right now.
Until we switch to QDs (Which is a possibility soon) you basically have to remove all of the buttons, joystick and t-molding from the top. Then either try to stick over the current one (I have no idea how well this works, never tried it) or remove the current one and sand the top to get a smooth finish again, then apply your new artwork, then reinstall the buttons and joystick.
Now if you have happ buttons this isn’t as bad because you can just remove the microswitches.
I don’t recommend replacing the art though.
QDs offered by popular demand? Lots of people have been asking for it due to how “easy” it was to swap buttons for the Madcatz and Hori stuff.
If you order with the Sanwa buttons upgrade on the Slim Arcade model, are all the buttons Sanwa, or only the main 6 on top? Are the side buttons Sanwa as well?
Also, I will repeat my previous question since it has not been answered - what is the configuration (right versus left) of the side buttons on the PS3 Slim Arcade for the start, select and Playstation buttons?
Thanks in advance.
From what I hear and what I see,
If you choose Sanwa, then all your buttons should be Sanwa. At least on isurus’s Bruce Lee slim arcade, I saw some close up screenshots to verify that the side buttons are not Happ (looks Japanese style) when the top 6 buttons are Clear Semitsu.

Left side of the PS3 Slim Arcade has the Playstation button (1 button)
Right side of the PS3 Slim Arcade has the Start and Select buttons (2 buttons)
Thanks for that info - that is exactly the set up I would like and prefer. Now I await confirmation from Ed Farias on the Sanwa buttons.
Thanks.
Sorry, I’m still a little confused on the button choices. I would like my buttons to be Seimitsu PS-14-KN and to look like this:

(image courtesy of LizardLick, put on my own server so I don’t steal their bandwidth)
The AIAB choices are “Seimitsu” and “Seimitsu clear”. To get the buttons to look like those linked above, what should I choose?
If “Seimitsu” looks like those linked above, will the art still be installed in the buttons?
The custom options page lets you pick Seimitsu clear or a particular color for the buttons
Mahatma, that page is not clear. For example:
Say I pick “Seimitsu” and blue buttons. What buttons do I get? Are they blue/translucent or blue/opaque?
Say I pick “Seimitsu clear” and blue buttons (the page forces you to always pick a color for buttons). Do I get clear buttons or blue/translucent buttons?
My questions is: What do I need to choose to get buttons like these and will AIAB put the art in these buttons?
I think your assumption might be correct since I saw somewhere on this forum that somebody appreciated Ed for going out of the way to purchase a specific part from a supplier. Not sure if it is the case now with 300+ orders in the queue. You just need to specify if you want artwork inside the buttons on the Comments and Special Instructions textbox. I agree that the customization form needs to be changed to make things more clear to the customer.
I was curious about what game you play on the PS3 using the MK layout other than Mortal Kombat II (from Backbone)
Tax refund, … hardly anyone is getting any of that in California. The stimulus package of 2008 would definitely be enough to buy an AIAB arcade stick.
how easy is it to mod an AIAB compared to the TE fightstick?
It’s not. Connections are all soldered, and button nuts are hot glued in place (at least in mine), so make sure you get what you want. Art is pretty much permanent as well. So make sure you get something you know you will like for the life of the stick.
But the quality is outstanding.
can you request the stick be built with QD’s and if the stick isn’t soldered to the pcb? If so, much much extra will it cost?
Ed just posted this morning that he will start using QDs soon. I am not sure how far you are in line, but hopefully it happens before you get your stick.
Is there any chance you would print up a custom design with the Mortal Kombat dragon logo?
Also, is there any possible way of you using the two dragons from the original MK arcade cabinet? Here is a picture showing them on the left and right side of the arcade stick
I’m thinking something like the original MK logo in the middle with the dragons on the sides would be really cool.
If QD’s are coming soon, I would like to delay my stick until they are available.
what is “QD”?
Quick disconnects.
