I saw that it has been updated, seems like BIGBAGGA’s suggestion of having a “will ship” date has been heard.
Will the order status be updated more often b/c of this? I think that is what everyone would like to see happen despite how busy the AIAB staff is, does not help to have updates roughly every 2 weeks.
Yeah, our schedule is kind of as follows right now with 4 of us working.
Build sticks Sunday night in preperation for Monday morning soldering. In this case, we got 12 done.
Sticks are wired on Monday as more sticks are being built.
Tuesday is finishing and testing all sticks that were completed on Monday. Then boxing them up for shipping. While this happens the remaining sticks that were build on Monday are wired.
Wednesday we are only here for half the day so that will consist of finishing up, testing and boxing the remaining sticks for preperation for shipping on Thursday. Except international orders, if they are completed on time they will ship out on Wed. International orders will only ship out on Weds.
Wednesday night we build and prepare more sticks for Thursday.
Thursday morning fedex shows up and picks up all orders. We will wire, test and box up what we can on Thursday for shipping on Friday.
Sunday comes around and it starts all over again. My hope is to start getting out roughly 40 and maybe 50 sticks a week with this process.
Keeping hanging with us, we are on the verge of really make a huge dent in the order queue.
I saw your other post. White comp sticks might be coming soon, but that isn’t confirmed yet. But if it does happen, it would be a little way after your stick is done, but there is hope of changing it out later.
yup, i ordered mine November 30 and received it Janurary 22. i have no complaints about the quality of work, length of time and plan on ordering again in the future. ironically, SFIV was (and still is) the furthest thing from my mind when i ordered the stick. i’m just glad i ordered before the SF hype really kicked into high gear.
White eurostick eh? I will have to look into that when it comes out. If it’s not too hard to swap out, I will do it.
Ed, you don’t have to answer this if you don’t want. but when my custom artwork comes in, could you tell me which trim would look best on it in your opinion? I chose chrome for now but I have a feeling I can’t make a good judgement without seeing the thing in person. Order 1493.
Is the Sanwa JLF a square gate? I wasn’t sure to get the octo or the square.
Is there a way to open the arcade box and switch them? And where can I get a octo gate so I can see which one I like to use?
Also, how long is the life of the stick and buttons? I got Sanwa buttons and want to know if I have to replace them in the future.
I’m new to the arcade stick business so forgive the lack of knowledge. :shy:
Thanks.
Just in my opinion, I would say chrome edging will look good on a black background artwork.
I never knew gold chrome was available (order 1380)
Not sure about the life of the stick, but the life (MTBF - mean time before failiure) of the Sanwa buttons are about 1 Million presses.
If you got Sanwa JLF, then its a square gate. If you got Sanwa JLF octo gate, then you got the 8 way gate and the name says it all. I seen on the order status that you could have one gate installed and the other one shipped separately (order 1383), but you have to contact Ed for that.
Now a question about warranty, does opening the box and attempting to replace a part void the warranty?
You can still return custom sticks within 30 days, but if you have custom artwork that we can’t possibly resell (like it has your name on it) we can’t refund that portion of it.
I have yet to see Sanwa buttons or sticks go bad. On the american stuff, the Micro Switches tend to go out, but they are easy to replace.
It does not void the warranty if you need to get into the stick to swap something out.
If you order an octo gate we ship the original square gate with your order.
Thanks for the clarification about the warranty. I think Tim one time inquired about buying returned sticks, would be useful to some people that want to buy a stick withoutwaiting.
Hopefully you get a chance to update your site with an FAQ or with more details. Also with the recent positive feedback, it would help to reopen the User Reviews/Testimonials.
Thanks for sharing the pics djfrankfresh, it is the first time I ever seen the INSIDE of a AIAB box. It looks clean and neat. Not sure if you got it recently or long time ago.
Not sure if you have not already, was wondering if you posted your feelings about your AIAB stick in one of the entries on your blog.
Actually I knew the SF rush was going to happen so I managed to get my bonus from work and I bought two. I placed my order in mid Nov and I got it right before Christmas. People always talk ish that its too expensive and would never pay that much for a stick. But you hear people cry because there are on a d-pad. “You got a stick that’s why you won” And that’s why I bought this stick. Me and brother have literally beat down on the stick when playing. If you guys can be a little patient it would be well worth it. You have to understand HD Remix and SF4 have exploded the demand for these sticks. I personally like these better than the new TE stick from mad catz. Now I have never played on them yet but why would you need the extra two buttons and its plastic. Also this was custom made for me.
Fortunately you ordered and received your AIAB stick at the best possible time. Lucky you. I convince myself all the time when I daydream about Street Fighter that the wait for the stick will be worth it.
I share the same sentiments in regards to having the right gear for SF, playing on a D-Pad for Racing Games (Gran Turismo 5) or Light Gun Games (Time Crisis 4) just is not right. Though the gear may be expensive, some games are just better experienced with them and fighting games is not an exception.
