Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

Ed…

is my stick (my MK custom, if you forgotten, before the slim’s and dual systems) able to be upgraded to a dual system stick?

Ok, I see you do dreamcast pcb’s too. But it’s not listed on the site as an option. Are those available. I have a friend (and me) possibly who would like to order some sticks.

Can you make the Xbox 360 sticks wireless?

i found a pic of a black akuma stick with seimitsu buttons. would i be able to get duel system one like that?

Congratulations, Ed! Small update: The PSX/PS2 stick I bought at the end of October arrived today. Can’t actually open it yet because it’s a Christmas present, but it looks to be a little smaller than the SF Anniversary stick I was using, which is good. I was afraid it was going to be too big for lap play, but this should do nicely.

I don’t think he can. He had some trouble with Capcom, so he can’t have licensed characters on the sticks, even if users submit the images. You can see that it has the old logo, so that stick was made a while ago. If you look through this thread, you can find out some more info on that whole deal with licensed properties.

Slim vs True Arcade

Hey there everyone!

I’ve been reading most (if not all) of this thread and I just have a couple questions concerning the Slim and True Arcade versions of AIAB sticks.

Is the True Arcade too big or cumbersome for lap play? I plan on getting either one, and I just wanted to know if anyone has tried the True Arcade on their lap, or what preferences they have on either model.

The opposite goes for the slim version, I assume it is still big and beefy enough for table tops.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Bob

I don’t have a True Arcade stick, but I have a Slim, and it’s great for the lap and for placing on the table due to the rubber feet. I didn’t have any problems with the stick sliding around or anything.

The Slim Arcade is surprisingly small… perhaps one of the smallest arcade sticks I’ve ever tried, but it works amazingly well and is built so solid. The weight is also perfect for me… not too heavy or too light… but this thing is lighter than most other sticks I’ve had in the past. After having a X360 Slim Arcade from AIAB, I sold my PS3 Hori Fighting Stick EX3 almost immediately because the feel didn’t compare with AIAB’s. I will be getting a 2nd AIAB Hybrid PS3/360 stick by the end of the month.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either True Arcade or the Slim Arcade, it’s all a matter of how heavy you want to go.

It is only about 2 inches shorter, correct?

And how small are you saying? From what I could gather, it looks bigger than the Hori EX2, but would it be similar to the HRAP or the new Madcatz SFIV stick (for those that have tried it).

I’m leaning towards getting the True Arcade, but my fear is that it would be too bulky for my lap.

I have a true arcade and used it on my lap. It’s fine.

If the HRAP is like those DOA4 sticks for XBox 360, it’s bigger than that. Not by much though.

I was comparing it to other sticks that use real arcade parts, like the humongous MAS sticks in the past or the Hori EX3. Not those cheapie plastic sticks… like the DOA4 stick or previous ASCII sticks back in the heyday in the PS1/PS2 era.

does the slim arcade use quick disconnects?

I was disappointed to find that ed does not use quick disconnects. He solders directly to the contacts. This makes swapping buttons and sticks harder then it needs to be. I had to cut the wires and add the quick disconnects myself when I changed the stick. Please add the option ed! :wgrin:

The Slim Arcade is about the size of the SF Anniversary stick, but not as wide. The Slim is definitely taller than any of the Hori sticks, but still short enough for lap play. It’s about as short as you can possibly make a stick that has a Happ Competition joystick in it. The True Arcade is even taller! That one’s made for floor/table players.

Ed, I was wondering if you can do a dual system stick with PS2 and 360? And will I be able to use my pelican converter to use with PS3? Thanx.

bumped for “The Man”…

Got to play with my Slim Arcade today. Holy crap, this thing is awesome. I was afraid it would be too big, but it’s actually an inch shorter than my SF Anniversary stick and is perfect for lap play. I am most impressed; great job!

One question, though: On my PS2 Slim Arcade, on the right side of the case I have my Select and Start buttons, but what’s that button on the left side? Is it a PS3 Home button or something? My PS2 controller adapter on my PC doesn’t detect a button press when I press it.

can you post pics of your stick? (NO HOMO). to see how it looks compared to the SF Anniversary, i might buy one of those in the near future. thanks in advance.

Here you go, this is my AIAB Slim Arcade stick with Happ Comp parts. In the last two, it’s pictured next to a SF Anniversary stick and a Hori Fighting Stick EX-2. Click the thumbnails for full size pics.
