Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

What size are you getting and why?

Those don’t look like happ buttons, what kind are they? Also, did you get tight curved or wide curved?

Those are DEFINITELY Happ buttons

look like wide curved because the distance the joystick is from the buttons

I’m planning on purchasing a stick from AIAB, but i had a few quick questions, if you didn’t mind answering for me.

1.) I want a ps2 stick, do you know if this will work with a red octane converter (used for GC)? http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/redo...roller-adapter
( best link i can find) I use this converter now with my tekken 5 stick and it works just fine.

2.) I live in Tempe AZ. I was wondering, when you were done building it, would the shipping be faster because i also live in AZ?

3.) If the shipping is the same time, would it be possible to pick the stick up from you?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for making some kick ass sticks.

i ordered a stick from ed, took forever to get it but it was definitely worth the wait, best stick i’ve ever owned.

-dime

Yes, my stick has Happ Competition buttons. They’re the same as the Happ Concave buttons you find on American arcade machines, except that they’re convex instead. My layout is Curved-Wide. Curved-Normal is a clone of the Astro City control layout, with the joystick and the buttons really close to each other.

Normally, I have to deal with my controller’s flaws, like having to use my 360 controller’s left analog stick because the D-pad sucks, or not being able to do ST super move motions because the joystick keeps hitting corners, or the SF Anniversary stick being Xbox-huge. The AIAB stick is so good, it’s transcendental in a way. Once I get used to the layout, I’ll finally be able to do command motions in total confidence, and if the move doesn’t come out, it’s purely my own fault because the stick components are perfect for me.

The only way I could make this better would be to have licensed characters available for the artwork. Ed, have you tried talking to Sega or SNK or Atlus to get some commissioned character art for your sticks? I mean, they haven’t put out any arcade sticks of their own in the US, so why would they turn you down?

I’m excited to order my stick. I’m going to get a IL eurostick with happ convex buttons, maybe sanwa, in a curved wide formation. Arcade slim. Then I’ll slap a picture of a hot chick on it, all things being equal, hot chicks make things better.

Ed said he couldn’t even talk to me about my order until after sf4 though.

why until after sf4? is he that busy?

Yeah he said he’s so busy pumping out the stock sticks that anything with a bunch of special requests will have to wait until then. Then after that, it will probably be another six weeks.

I would assume that all stick makers are going to be extremely busy due to the release of SFIV.

those aiab sticks look so nice

Sorry for being so distance yet again :).

That button is not wired. It is there just in case you ever want to upgrade the stick to a newer system, or find the need to wire another button to it for menu navigation or emulators.

I am glad you are enjoying it so much. This is the reason I do what I do. Trust me, this isn’t the business to be in to pay the bills on a regular basis :). Sorry it took so long to get to you.

I’m moving into my new shop that is about twice the size at the end of next month. All of a sudden my current shop just got really cramped, and I need to hire more help and I just don’t have the room for them. I can’t wait.

Congrats Ed! Looking forward to my stick whenever you get around to finishing it. I understand family and other issues cause delays. My eternal happiness can wait a little longer

derik, that guy from volition

casts post necromancy lvl 3 with a dash of off-topic

Yea, companies have to actively inform the public of their trademark, otherwise they can lose it and it becomes public domain. That’s a dumbed-down version of what I’ve read.

Lego will deal with this problem eternally. They aren’t Legos you are playing with, they are Lego Blocks

In addition, I’d imagine that even if he could get a license, it would be prohibitively expensive. These are practically made by hand if I’m not mistaken, so he doesn’t have the advantage of cranking out large numbers of sticks in a factory. He doesn’t turn a huge profit on them that would justify paying for a license.

So what kind of timeframe are we looking at for a controller now that the holiday rush is over?

Probably a larger wait with Street Fighter 4 coming out in February. I ordered my sticks November 26 and was told to expect a shipping date sometime this week if that gives you a good estimate for a time line.

Hey, Ed, hey i got a question for you, i got 6 sanwa buttons, and a Chathulu PCB, so my question is: can i just order a Custom True Arcade with a Sanwa Stick, selec, start, and PS home buttons???, i dont want the PCB or the 6 buttons because i have them, plus i want to put Q.D’s on them. let me know ill probably place my order on January when i get some $$. thanks.

Just gave you guys some business. I ordered a True Arcade for the PS3 with a Perfect 360 stick. Really looking forward to playing HD remix on it…

Thanks

I had a chance to check out Ed’s shop a few wks ago. Seems to be really busy pumping out those sticks for you guys. Looks exactly like the kind of shop i’d like to have to do all the machining and wood working i like to do myself. glad you’re moving into a bigger space Ed. thanks again for helping me out with those spare parts you had laying around. I hope it didn’t put you in a bind with finishing up orders for these guys! and if i didn’t say it before - awesome sticks.
