Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

I think the 40 gig PS3’s have no BC at all.

This is true.

The 60g plays all PS1 & PS2.

The 80g, most PS2.

The 40g does play PS3 games

Just send it to me to test :wgrin:

hehe, but seriously, if you cant find a way, I’ll test it for you.

BTW, did Pat McCarron ever send you a MK jamma to test on TVs?

Sony is such a strange company. They’re getting destroyed by MS and Nintendo so instead of offering more to their consumers for the money they’re paying. They drop the price of the systems by a few bucks but then take away all of the extras that you are supposed to get.

Whomever is in charge of their business plan needs to be fired. They have got to be the dumbest company on earth.

I Agree KY. I thought it was pretty messed up when I tried to fire up a ps2 game.

I didn’t feel like spending more on a ps3 that I only use to test controllers. I have some friends, if their ps3 is backwards compatible I will try to do some testing myself.

This is pretty much the reason I’ll never buy a PS3. I’ve actually considered picking up a PS2 slim just to have it, but as far as i’m concerned the PS3 is garbage.

I don’t know how true this is, but I heard from a GS employee that there will be a new ps2-ps3 converter that nyko will be making. Hopefully it’s as good as the pelican one and won’t be as expensive as people are charging now a days.

The 40GB PS3 will play PS1 games. It just won’t play PS2 games.

LOL. That’s just classic.

Thanks for the response all. Well looking around for several hours left me being rather unsure about the wired catz controllers being backwards compatible, so I’ll wait for some formal tests from Ed or just buy a PS2 stick and hope for another good quality backwards compatible ala pelican converter to come out so I can play HDremix on my PS3. As a side note- sorry you have had so many problems recently Ed. Its really a shame that these huge companies are giving you such a hard time and the run around when your just trying to make a great product that lets people get the most out of their games!! Its also cool that you are running ideas past this forum as these people have good ideas and its your hard-core fan base that is going to keep you going. Good luck with everything!!

I honestly think I’m going to pick up a PS2 slim. I used to have a fatty a few years back but it died and I just never bothered to replace it. I was considering a ps3, but damn, I’m not going to forced to spend for the 80gig.

PS3 sticks are still coming soon. I’m having a bit of a problem with the start button of all things. When it’s wired and I press it, it’s like it goes into “slow-mo” mode, it just makes the start button on/off/on/off in rapid succession until I press it again. I’m not sure why that button would be so odd, but it’s the only button I am having a problem with.

If the madcatz works with a ps1 game, is it safe to assume it will work with a ps2 game?

Ed: Don’t use PS3 MadCatz controllers for hacking. The wired controllers have a dropout issue.

If you hold left for more than 3-5 seconds the signal drops out. Just thought I’d give you the heads up.

Otherwise, keep up the good work.

Capcom was wise to issue the C&D because they are indeed coming out with stuff. I wish they just brushed it under the table, but they are going to be coming hard with new stuff/licensing in the future.

Well damn. I tried that out and you are correct. WTF?

Sheesh, just when I think the PS3 stick is almost done, this happens. Back to the drawing board.

any idea what exactly they are coming out with? Arcade-quality/easily moddable joysticks? Crappy variants of Hori EX2/FS3 with a sticker?

Yea, it sucks ;( I’m not sure if the Pelican controller has the same issue but you might want to link into that one.

Sorry I’m not at liberty to say/“I don’t know” lol… I’m sure there will be info on whatever comes out in the future well before it is released.

How tough is the official 6 axis to hack and I assume they come wired.

I have one of the Lava pads. Kind of a funky looking pad when it’s all together, but the board seems fairly simple, minus no common ground. That was the nice thing about the madcatz, it has a common ground and the other ps3 pads I have tried don’t.

Maybe I will look into the 6axis, just afraid they are going to cost a bit more than the ones I’ve tried…

Didn’t know there was no common ground on the Lava/PDP/Pelican controllers… Have you looked into the Sakar branded ones? They are wired as well, I believe Fry’s Electronics is the only place that sells em.

What about the hori
http://www.renchi.com/renchi/PS3_Accessories_HoriPad_3_Turbo_Controller_White_Hori.htm

They say their are 4 ground, but I can live with that if they are easy to hack.

I have one of those, when I get home from work I’ll pop it open and take a look at it to see how the PCB looks like…
