Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

Any idea when PS3 sticks will be back in stock?

Glad to hear that you came back safe from vacation! Back to the daily grind like the rest of us.

Two quick questions.

  1. Can you take a pictuer of the full size stick next to the slim so we can get a better comparison?
  2. Does the artwork fit the sticks the same?

Yeah, that’s not a problem to do.

I finally broke down and bought a ps3 today so I can actually test controllers before they go out. So maybe in the next few weeks the ps3 sticks will be available.

  1. Yeah, I need to do that. I’ll try to do it tomorrow.
  2. The only ones that don’t are the ones that have a labels for the buttons and specific areas around the buttons, like the generic curved and straight layouts. The other artwork should be fine. If there is one you have in question, let me know and I will take a look. All of the artists are really easy to get a hold of, so if something doesn’t fit, we can alter it as need be.

When you make that picture to compare orginal and slim sizes and you also add something like a sheet of A4 paper. I have a hard time figuring out how big they actually are from those pictures.

here ya go. The images are not very cleaned up.

Ed,

Since you’re changing materials does that mean your box style will change to get rid of the colored trim?

No, never :).

IMO, the T-molding is one of the things that gives it that arcade look, and I like that. It adds a lot of variety of how each unit can look and makes almost each one unique because of the different color combinations.

I know many of you don’t care for it, all I can say is sorry. Maybe someday I will design one where the top another way, but no right now.

Also, the larger box on the right is the black melamine, the one on the right is the black matte vinyl. You really can’t tell a difference.

On the smaller box, designing my own artwork. I know you had some issues with “copyrighted” stuff. Will you be able to produce a stick with art that I give you if it is for my usage and not displayed on your site?

Are you ever going to try to make the xbox 360 headset work on one of this arcade sticks or is not possible. Just had curiosity because I think I’m going to get one for my xbox 360 I’m getting tired of the small Hori arcade stick.

It depends on the artist. Udon does allow this as long as I put their logo on it. Since it is for personal use, I can’t put it up on my site or put my logo on it as it might seem as if I am using their artwork to help sell my products, which isn’t the case.

It’s tough because of the stupid plug on the headset. I would actually have to route the wood in a curved shape that would make the headset jack and then mount the PCB so the port fits through that hole. It would take a lot of hours to get right, and I just don’t have the hours to try it. At least not right now.

It looks like that work table has seen better days. :wgrin:

It may just be the photo, but to me the Slim Arcade on the right looks better (as far as the black material). Maybe the True Arcade is just older, I dunno…

Well that’s good :).

That’s actually the table I do my shipping from and at one point it was spray painted black. Now it’s all kind of chipping away haha.

I guess my only option is using the original xbox headset do they still sell them in stores.

You can use any cell phone headset as well that uses a 2.5mm jack. I use the one from my blackberry.

Sent a PM for clarification issues

Much thanks for the picture comparison. The Slim looks VERY impressive. I’m not sure which console the pictured Slim is for, but do you put three buttons on the right side for the Xbox360 version?

.

Thanks for the help Ed. I just ordered one of the slims  I PM’d you one more question though. After that I believe everything will be set. Thanks!

Well I’m a little stuck on a decision here, so as always I turn to you all for help ;).

As you know I am trying to get away from cutting the melamine. It’s hard on router bits, and is just all around a pain to work with.

Anyway, as my stock pile of black melamine control panels vanish, I’m trying to deside what to do. I would like to start including artwork on every control panel. I could even eat the cost on them a little bit. My initial thought is to raise prices $10 and include a standard artwork. Then offer the option of upgrading to one of the stock images for $15 more (the commission I pay the artists). Then add the option for customer supplied artwork for $10 (since I don’t have to pay commission, but still takes a little work to get it ready to print). Of course the standard rules apply to what artwork can be used and those are discussed with the customer.

Prints actually cost me $15 per. I charge $30 for our stock artwork, $15 goes to the artist and the rest goes to the printing cost. I actually lose a dollar each time artwork is ordered. Not to mention the extra labor to install it. But, I feel it adds a great deal to the look of the sticks, so I don’t mind taking a little hit on it if it means people are willing to show it off to their friends.

Not to mention that artwork is needed to hide the bolt heads. Though I only plan on doing this for the JLF sticks right now. We’ll see though.

Opinions?

That’s for ps2. Yes, I put three on the side for 360

Great, thanks.
