Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

Most likely after I get back from vacation on the 16th. I’m trying to get all of my current orders out before I leave so that’s taking all of my time currently.

Thanks for the update. Have a great vacation!

Well the main things I’m waiting for at the moment are the PS2 compatibility with controller adapters and programmable buttons. Other things aren’t that important to me but would still like (such as xbox and gamecube support ) you’re planning to implement anyway.

Well just wanted to throw something out there. I briefly touched on it in the Custom stick thread. I havea ton of plastic around from back when I was making Jamma and PC based systems. I used it for the backplates.

I have black 1/16" and Clear 1/16 plastic. Thought it might be cool to make up some custom dust washers. The clear will work well to paint from the underside, and both plastics could be used for simple designs like stars, hearts, etc.

Might be something I think more about while I’m on vacation :).

How much you selling it for?

One thing is for sure…this thread needs 2 or 3 Ed’s, lol.

OK, I am back from vacation and healthy. I got pretty sick my first day back, but I’m feeling better today.

I’ve started to update the site and began adding the new items. It’s not nearly finished yet, but should be by the weekend.

.

I have a UAII Kit and I’m pretty sure it will fit fine. I’ll double check that for you though.

.

No, I don’t do plexi. Sorry.

Hey Ed what kind of laminating machine do you use?

Shin,
For the color stuff I actually use automotive adhesive vinyl, soon there will be pictures of it.

In the past, I used predone black melamine particle board. The wood is already laminated when I would get it, but I’m moving away from it for a few reasons. 1. It eats up router bits like crazy, 2. It’s getting more and more expensive by the week it seems. 3. It’s chips easily and is extremely sharp on non protected edges.

OK, I’ve done more work today. I added a section to the site called informaton (you can see it has it’s own box to the left of the store). In there it explains the different joysticks and buttons options, along with pictures.

I also added the color options section. This includes pictures of the different t-molding options, a long with picture of the new color options for the wood. I need to go through and fix up grammar and all that good stuff, but at least it’s a start.

I’m probably going to put 10 or so psx/ps2 sticks up for sale in the next few hours. I need to find out how many pads I have and make sure they are all working with psx and ps2. Since I can’t test every convertor out there, I have to leave it as “working with psx and ps2”. I will test and make sure they work with my PS2 to PC adapter as well. Some off brand.

I think that’s it. The site is close, and the slim units will be for sale very soon. Also blank cases. Just wood, or with colors, artwork and t-molding applied already.

I want more of the arcade feel. Which one should i buy?
There is the slim version. Is that good?

How much for shipping to Canada approx. using USPS Global Express?
How long does it take to prepare the stick before shipping?
Do you use quick disconnects?

Do you know if Street Fighter III: Third Strike cabinets use Happ Ultimates, or the Happ Concave with horizontal microswitch (Competition Plus Ultimate Hybrid) -yes, hybrid…wtf?

How do you like the face of the X-Arcade. I owned one but won’t go back. Am looking for something a bit more authentic.

The joystick is positioned slightly higher than the midline between the two rows of three-buttons. e.g. between the row of punches, and row of kicks buttons.
Is it difficult to have the joystick positioned exactly at this midline? Extra cost? Extra time?

Possible to have a start button above and to the right of the fierce punch? like in the arcades?
thx.

Ed’s work is phenomenal. I just received my AIAB last month, and have nothing but compliments to pay the work and quality put towards the finished product.

If you get the regular sized version, it pretty much needs to sit on the floor in front of you, or set on to a surface to play with. The slim is new, so don’t believe anyone has experience with it yet, but if you are looking for a stick to use in your lap, it would be the way to go.

You won’t be disappointed with either way you go.

I don’t doubt you. I am sure his work is fantastic.

Well a little snag with the low profile, but I think it will be better.

The low profile is too low for the p360s, and really close for the happ sticks. I might have to increase the height slightly for those two. Maybe a quarter of an inch.

When I designed them, I only had the JLF sticks in mind and not really any of the happ parts.

Perhaps you can route a small groove so the bottom of the stick can move freely?

Sure, don’t mind if it is a bit higher. Is it much trouble to have the stick aligned exactly at the midline between the row of punch and the row of kick buttons? Will this take a lot of extra time?
