Bohannon’s name comes up and Louise is like, “Ruth, you like him.”

On the way to Cheyenne, Bohannon, Ezra, and Elam, encounter the Mormon riding party.
After Elam recovers from his hangover horse-riding shenanigans, he is sent off with Ezra, by Bohannon, as the Southerner somewhat deals with the Mormons, via gunfight.

Elam is still drunk and gets sober via coffee as Ezra is put into a safe-zone upstairs by Bohannon.
lol @ Durant to Bohannon: "Not everything bad that happens to you, is my fault."
Durant thinks about negotiating on Bohannon’s behalf and puts down one of the Mormons in the process.
Plan is to get support (via telegraph) from Bendix to deal with this problem.
Crazy plan to get to the telegraph office: Elam with the wild horse cart ride, Bohannon with the backup support cover.
However, the telegraph office is in ruins and Bohannon is somewhat injured.

If things go bad here…: Bohannon is to consider Ezra’s fate, Elam is to continue the railroad venture.
The duo returns to the hotel, which is quiet.
lol @ the Resident Evil camera angles in regard to the stairs.
Palmer and Durant are subdued… Ezra is missing, having been taken because of Bohannon.
Bohannon is on a mission… gunfighter shooting skills too strong for the Mormon fodder.

So close…?

Mickey and Ruth have a brief talk about Sean and the situation that happened before.
Elam with the SITREP on Bohannon to the railroad workers.
After Elam gives a speech to bolster morale, work/life continues in regard to the railroad.

Bohannon arrives at the Mormon fort for a possibility of his own reckoning…

The preview for the season finale was pretty crazy.

Spoiler

Like, I expect the episode to start off with a fateful reunion encounter, then shit goes down.

This time around, The Swede is gonna be in the position that Bohannon had him in at the end of S2.

Hell on Wheels is so depressing. For the 5 minutes of happiness and triumph, there are roughly 37 minutes of dreary drama.

Elam is in bitchmode. He has a chance of making a legit halfling with his woman and is making the selfish decision trying to keep her here.

The shootout was well done, even though I was little perturbed by Bohannon going all T-800 at the end. These guys must be horrible shots.

I’m hyped for the finale, but I really want to see The Swede get what’s coming to him. JUDGMENT!

Hell on Wheels - S3 E10 (Season Finale)

Spoiler

Bohannon is a Mormon prisoner and gets buckets of water thrown at him.
Later, he is led through a crowd of Mormon settlers/onlookers (including Hatch’s daughter) and makes the acquaintance of one Bishop Joseph Dutston… The Swede.
Bohannon is like, “Holy shit… You’re alive.”

The ‘trial’ begins with Hatch’s opening statement of Bohannon’s charges; murder, trespassing, and sedition.
Swede asks for Bohannon’s name, and Bohannon hits Swede with a takedown and starts choking him, before he gets pulled off, with Swede blaming some Mormons for the instance.
white shadow probably cheered when this happened, lol.

When Bohannon is asked for his name, he replies with Thor Gunderson (Swede’s real name) and goes on about his past life, besides calling him evil.
Swede in role-play mode as a servant/chosen of God, as the two of them have a bit of a back-and-forth going on.

In HoW, Ruth is piling a guilt-trip on Elam, who is making preparations to rescue Bohannon.

In addition to the charges against Bohannon, Hatch presents another offering; his daughter, who is pregnant with Bohannon’s baby.
Bohannon is like WTF.
The Swede also reacts to the news.
Later, Bohannon is back in his cell, and visited by Naomi (Hatch’s daughter), with the two of them talking about the pregnancy, for a bit.

Elam seeks out Eva and has some words with her about the baby of theirs.
Before he goes off to rescue Bohannon, Eva tells Elam to stay and that she doesn’t have a good feeling about something… a premonition of sorts.

In Cheyenne, Durant is worried that Bohannon will interrupt with an appearance.
Grant’s delegation arrives and Durant relays the SITREP concerning Bohannon, but Grant believes that the Southerner will make it before the deadline.
Random Mendix sighting.

Hatch, who is still mad, visits Bohannon and complains about Naomi being pregnant and her chastity ruined, as well as her future life stuffs.
Bohannon says that he’ll marry Naomi, surprising Hatch.
Hatch offers to speak on Bohannon’s behalf, regarding the situation. Word?

Elam encounters some Indians and takes them out, channeling Bohannon’s gun prowess.
One survives and flees.

The Swede visits Bohannon and the two talk about Swede’s past life.
It appears that Bohannon will avoid death, via marriage to the pregnant, Naomi.
However, Swede still says that he has control over Bohannon’s fate, though Bohannon says otherwise about Swede’s standing with the Mormons.
Swede would rather kill Bohannon, but is apparently content with having him suffer. He walks away, laughing.

Bohannon agrees to the marriage proposal and is freed.
Swede presides over the ceremony that unifies Bohannon and Naomi.
Mad awkward, yo.

Celebratory dinner that features a pig carving, which Bohannon obliges, as The Swede leads a prayer and taunts Bohannon at knife-point.
Hatch goes into father-in-law mode and holds it over Bohannon.
Side table pig carving as Swede talks to Bohannon about change and then/now stuffs.
Is this a test? Most likely, as ‘past’ Bohannon would’ve gutted ‘past’ Swede for the remark about Lily Bell.
Swede telling Bohannon that he can change, like he did.

Time’s up for Bohannon’s appearance and Durant ‘wins’ back control of the railroad.
Pretty low-key celebratory stuffs at the after-meeting, as Mendix literally puts the sole music player out of his misery. WTF.
Durant makes an ‘interesting’ toast at Bohannon’s expense; directed towards those who believed in him.
Durant so hateful and talking mad shit, but recovers in the end to save face.

Elam arrives near the fort, but loses his horse (and gear) and encounters a bear.
Elam uses knife CQC… Will it be effective?

Awkward wedding night for Bohannon and Naomi, who’s eighteen, and was worried about her unchaste status.
Bohannon replies to Naomi’s questions about his own past wedding stuffs, with Bohannon reassuring her that their relationship will be okay.
The next morning, Bohannon slowly adjusts to his new life, but adds some of his Southern flair/background to the mix.
Later, Swede and Bohannon talk about some railroad stuffs that the Mormons have planned.
lol @ the awkward shoulder-touch moment.

Mickey gets situated in Cheyenne and apparently is thinking of running for mayor, besides increasing his holdings.
Seems that Durant has a say in the matter, though it’s likely a formality at this point.
Durant also offers Louise a position of employment for her work, and she says that she’ll think about it.

Durant directs traffic and issues orders to Psalms, who makes a remark about Durant being a ‘white devil.’

Ruth arrives, with Ezra, and spots Eva, who says that Elam is dead…

Eva spots Louise talking to Palmer and appears worried, or something.

Mickey eyes a girl at the new saloon. Uh oh…

Durant is back in his old digs.

The bear is dead… and apparently, so is Elam. Hella Legends of the Fall moment here.

Bohannon is doing some farm work, while under The Swede’s watchful gaze.
Naomi offers water, but Swede takes a drink, and pours out the remainder in front of Bohannon.
Me and Shaft Agent were probably like, “This guy…” lol.

The ‘suffering’ for Bohannon has begun as a train whistle is heard and closes out the episode.

final thoughts:

Spoiler

WTF is going on?! The season finale was ‘interesting’ for all the stuff that happened.

recap:

  • Bohannon is married and is expecting a baby in the future, besides being stuck at the Mormon fort/settlement, for what will be a long while.
  • Durant is back in control of the railroad via a roundabout manner.
  • Elam is dead?!
  • Eva appears to be lost in her position in society/life.
  • Louise likely is head of her own writing/journalism publication.
  • Ruth does her church thing and is accompanied by Ezra, as of late.
  • Mickey has aspirations for position and power, besides hints of an evil streak.
  • The Swede continues to live as his new ‘identity’ and still torments Bohannon.

That character death toll stay rising.
Sean was somewhat surprising, but Elam though… really?!
Psalms is the lone black man quota now.

Where was the Ezra/Swede confrontation that I wanted? lol.
Not enough reckonings.

Eva with the baby momma drama and choices she made.
The focus on Mickey was an interesting side-story.
Louise was kinda just there as an outsider looking in POV.
Ruth was there as moral support stuffs, though her bit part with Bohannon was a tease.
Needs more Mendix for random antics.

The course of the season was quite a journey, with the Bohannon/Durant conflict going strong for the most part of it, though the Bohannon/Swede encounter was highly anticipated.

Where do things even go from here?

It was a somber finale, and quite unexpected in terms of plot development. I thought they would try to tie everything together, but I guess the resolution is for next season (hopefully the show gets renewed).

Bohannon being married off to that cutie pie isn’t the worst thing in the world. I’m loving how he’s trying his darndest to hold back his murderous wrath on The Swede.

The setup for Psalms being the knew head of the railroad was a nice touch. It’s good to flesh out the tertiary characters now that one fought a bear and the other is hold up in a Mormon fort. It almost feels like they wrote themselves into a corner. But season 3’s opener proved they can adapt to change.

The orphan boy is the key to everything.

BTW, does anyone think the news reporter lady and the Durant’s business partner look like they could be mother and daughter?

did Bohannon even stick it in? i thought he got busted before he could even penetrate.

Watch that one Indian who fled after that encounter do some Allan Quartermain/Africa revival stuff with Elam if he happens to find his body, lol.

Strange shit regarding death and life have happened before, like with Toole and Swede.

As for Bohannon’s nighttime tryst with Naomi in the barn way back when…
I guess there was time to bust… off-screen.
Unless something else happened instead.

It was interesting how the indians attacked Elam and then the last one just retreated. There wasn’t any context to it, same with the bear brawl. Elam is on some biblical journey shit right now.

Bohannon relays the SITREP to Bendix and tells him to play along with his non-existence, while the Swede opposes the impromptu meeting and has Hatch on standby to shoot, but Hatch expresses some doubt about the Bishop’s move to quickly act against Bohannon. Swede looking worried, there.
Difference of opinion regarding God, between Swede and Hatch.
Swede looks to stall Bohannon from leaving, besides Hatch and others.

Durant meets with Campbell’s party, who has plans in mind for Cheyenne.
Campbell formally announces his intentions/business to Durant.
The ‘Four Horsemen’ of civilization comment was interesting; lawyer, politician, policeman, and tax collector

Ruth talks to Psalms about Ezra, who is a bit of a troublemaker, as of late, with Bohannon being missing.
RockBogart likely supports Psalms POV on discipline in regards to ‘righteous violence’, lol.
Possible plans of Ezra being sent off to an orphanage.

There’s Ezra, causing trouble.
Durant confronts the boy and scolds him; highlights possible conditions of orphanage life. Then has some advice for Ruth regarding Ezra’s behavior.
RockBogart probably supports the scenario as highlighted by Durant, lol.

Mickey and Eva having a difference in opinion, in regards to their previous encounter from the last episode.

Bohannon discusses plans on leaving with Naomi.
Hatch confronts Bohannon about his upcoming departure, and of Bishop Swede’s possible ‘true nature’, due to doubts.

Campbell and group discuss their plans for Cheyenne.
While Campbell acquaints himself with Louise at the newspaper office, the group stumble upon a disagreement in Mickey’s casino and look to make an example out of a man involved in the incident. Difference in opinion regarding justice.
Louise keeping Campbell in check with the comment about his past station in Atlanta.

Upon what seems to be an imminent departure, Bohannon prostrates himself before Bishop Swede, and asks for ‘forgiveness’ of his being. Swede looks pleased…?
Impromptu sermon underway, via a spectacle that garners attention from the other Mormons. WTF is going on, here, and where is it going?
Oh, shit… Bohannon is turning this around to unmask/denounce the ‘false prophet’ Bishop Dutson persona that The Swede has taken on, much to the surprise of Hatch and the others.

Bohannon be like: "My job here is done."
And so he departs, whistling “Dixie”, lol.

The Swede is still defiant as he continues to exclaim, “Praise God.”

An impromptu trial takes place and justice/judgement is swiftly meted out, afterwards.
Campbell reports to Grant about his venture in Cheyenne and dealings with Durant.

Bohannon and Naomi have a brief encounter with an Indian on the way to Cheyenne.
There is an encounter with Psalms, who gives Bohannon a SITREP on things regarding the disappearance of Elam, the news surprising Bohannon.

random thoughts:

  • The ‘denouncing’ of the false prophet, was a very interesting and entertaining scene.
  • A number of .gif worthy moments here, regarding The Swede and such, besides quotable stuffs. Shaft Agent should sport some Bishop Swede screencaps as AVs for the duration of the season on ‘AV-change Wednesdays’, lol.
  • Kinda expecting Campbell’s group to diminish in number over the course of the season.
  • Ezra still hasn’t said anything yet. Still waiting on that Ezra/Swede confrontation to go down.

Hell on Wheels - S4 premiere

Spoiler

WTF is Durant planning, there, with the frozen river train crossing?
lol @ Psalms making/taking some side-bet action on the crossing event.
Welp… That’s, that.

Interesting to see Bohannon and Hatch being civil toward one another. Mostly in regard to Bohannon’s limited ‘term conditions’ at the Mormon fort.
The concept of the Bishop Swede not being who he’s supposed to be, was an interesting topic convo between the two men.

Bohannon: I’m out, since things have come to pass. But, Bishop Dutson (The Swede), probably not gonna let me leave.

Bohannon stay keep tabs on the railroad (outside world), but Swede keeping tabs on him, as well.
The back-and-forth between the men continues, with the concept of ‘freedom.’

Cheyenne is a bustling (dangerous) place… in the streets.
Durant taking losses from the failed venture. Needs to find some capital.
The ‘Metcalf’ incident still an issue regarding Durant’s ‘credibility’.

Durant making rounds in town:

  • Consoles Eva with the ‘falling from one’s station in life’ story.
  • Sees (Mayor) Mickey McGinnes about funding regarding the train river-crossing incident. Discusses a venture regarding land sales buyout at auction.

Bohannon upset about the happenings with the railroad.
Tells Naomi about his station (and purpose) in regarding going out west and railroad stuffs.

Can’t even enjoy a meal in piece with The (Bishop) Swede showing up like that.
Bohannon found some understanding with the concept of ‘freedom’ that Swede had mentioned, which pleases the Bishop.

Oh, shit… the scene from the ‘Vision’ trailer occurs here.
Bohannon: "I had me a vision."
The (Bishop) Swede: “Tell me.”

It’s going down. Swede is all worried about Bohannon possibly leaving (his control).
But, The (Bishop) Swede has something to say to Bohannon, and leaves him to think about things for a spell, who is stuck in the well he is building, due to the Bishop’s meddling.
The Swede with that opportune appearances, just at the right moment, in regards to Bohannon.
Damn, Swede revealing his ‘purpose’ to saving Bohannon’s life/soul.
Naomi giving birth, too.

Introduction to John Campbell, who is being sent out to Cheyenne by General Grant to maintain order in the ‘lawless’ land/frontier of Wyoming.
Campbell appoints positions of command to his posse and tells them to be ready to leave.

Durant leads the auction of land sales and things are going well… until Maggie Palmer arrives and enters a bidding war with Mickey.
Prices going up, yo. You’d think this was Monopoly, or something.
Mickey’s funds are somewhat depleted at Durant’s expense.

Eva encounters some trouble in town.
Mickey rescues her and talks to Eva about her downfall as of late and tells her to go back to whoring, with some ‘insight’ on the matter.
WTF happened there. Mickey got spooked when Eva confronted him. Will be interesting to see where that goes.

Difficulty in the birth and Swede presence?
Really, Hatch? Naomi in pain and suffering yo. Bohannon with the mid-wife strats.
WTF at The (Bishop) Swede with the prayer stuffs. Guy was speaking the written word of the ‘Haxonomicon’, or something.
Weird to see Swede somewhat responsible for helping to bring life into the world, considering his history of taking it away and all that.

Durant has funds and orders supplies, but receives word about Campbell’s arrival to Cheyenne, as provisional governor and overseer.
Holy shit at Durant’s dash-Karakusa of Delaney (new Chief Railroad Engineer). Dude is hella capable. Durant channeling one Marcus ‘Darkseid’ Chaplin (Last Resort).

Welp, looks like there is fallout between Durant and Palmer.
Palmer: “GTFO out of my hotel.”

The newborn boy receives a name: William, after Bohannon’s father.
Bohannon announces his departure plans to Naomi… who is asked to come along, with baby.
Mother Hatch hating on Bohannon for the Hatch family circumstances.

Confrontation between Bohannon and Swede regarding the Southerner’s likely departure from the settlement.
Interesting ‘dual-meaning’ scenarios regarding the ‘actions’ were one of them to take against the other.
Bohannon formally announces plans to leave, with family, and Bishop Swede opposes, his ‘intention’ of opposition based on identity ideal.

That stare-down… It’s on, now.

random thoughts:

  • Practically every scene The (Bishop) Swede is in, is a ‘.gif worthy’ moment. Look at his actions (hand gestures) and speech… Legendary.

  • Random application of the ‘Vision’ trailer highlight scene, were it to be edited.

RockBogart version:
Bohannon: "I’ve seen some (nice) booty."
Bishop Swede: “Show me.”

Shaft Agent version would probably include the line/quote: “Cry into my hands, so that I may hold onto your sorrow.”, if only to accentuate the moment. Hell, Heyerdahl in (Bishop) The Swede mode should just record the line, anyway, for posterity, lol.

  • Durant’s ‘dash-karakusa’ scene will probably find it’s way into RockBogart’s .gif collection and be used at some point in time.

i was thinking of a Bishop Swede avatar. Bohannon’s plan [details=Spoiler] to get him to incriminate himself [/details]was great.

:wow: @ Mickey and Eva’s interaction. poor Eva. she might be in tr0uble now (yes. that’s trouble with a zero for an ‘o’).

That scene was too good.
Shock and awe, indeed.

These two episodes were too strong for Bishop Swede.
Everything he did (hand gesture actions) and said (line delivery), was unreal and .gif worthy.
Animated .gif montage of various hand gesture sequences for an AV, would probably be ridiculous.

The only thing that would’ve made it more satisfying is if Bishop Swede got executed right there, so I could watch him die and know for certain that he’s dead. The bastard has more than 9 lives at this point.

Mayor Irish has now absorbed the rapey-ness of his psycho brother, wtf?

The most disappointing thing this season is the recasting of Bohannon’s purdy as a pecan pie Mormon wife. Oh she was so purdy… :shake:

Hell on Wheels - S4 E6

Spoiler

Holy shit! Elam is still alive and appears to have survived the bear attack/fight.
Visions, yo… They be showing some interesting stuff.
Some Indians showing up and doing wilderness CSI stuffs was a nice touch.

Elam is brought back to the Indians’ camp and is tended to, his road to recovery is slowed due to the severity of his injuries/ordeal. That damage, yo.
“Give me my supper!” scene was amusing.
Later, Elam takes notes of his surroundings and sees a white woman being brought into the Indians’ camp.

The caretaker and another Indian seem to have a difference on opinion, in regards to Elam, who endures/suffers through another eating/meal ordeal. Not yours, unless you can take it, man.
Later, Elam manages to regain his strength and is able to stand on his own. Upon, setting foot outside the tent he is in, his ‘delusion’ sets in as he finds himself among the other present Indian tribe members.

Elam encounters the white woman, whose name is Charlotte, but disregards her pleas for help. Dat face lick, yo.
The other Indian confronts Elam and the two men battle, though things end in a ‘draw’ of sorts, but not before Elam had ended up with a positional advantage due to RNC stuffs. Should’ve activated UNR, though.

Later that night, Elam is brought before the elders and undergoes a ritual, having appeared to have been accepted by the Indians.
Elam notes that the other Indian is sporting a railroad sheriff’s badge.
The language stuffs was interesting, as it likely referenced Elam’s capacity for learning from when he was younger.

Oh, shit… It’s Jimmy, that one guy from last season, who appears and recognizes ‘sourpuss’ as a railroad man, who apparently has been called ‘bear killer’ in these parts. The beard grew back…
The men talk a bit about Bohannon, though it seems that Elam is having troubles of his own sorting things out in his head.
Jimmy brings word about some ‘blue coats’ that are on a rampage and are looking for the white woman, Charlotte, who belongs to White Feather (the Indian that gives Elam trouble).
Elam’s Indian name-title is confirmed: Bear Killer, which has significant status meaning for the Commanche that have taken Elam in.
Though Elam attempts to lay claim to Charlotte, Jimmy reminds him of what was left behind for him in Cheyenne; a woman (Eva) and a baby girl.

During a war ceremony that the braves are holding at night, Jimmy tries and urges Elam to leave, but Elam insists that he is of his ‘new’ life now, and he kills Jimmy.
Damn. Elam stay gone.
Elam showing the braves he got some steps in the ritual dance, lol.

The ‘blue coats’ are led by Bendix, whose group is camping, when Elam surveys them from a distance.
Elam and the braves launch a surprise attack, causing Bendix’s group to incur losses and prompt a retreat.

When Elam and the braves return to camp, Charlotte tries again to appeal to Elam’s sensibilities, but Elam brushes her aside. White Feather takes Charlotte away to ‘discipline’ her, but Elam dispatches White Feather and claims Charlotte for his own. Another Indian takes offense to Elam’s act of scalping White Feather, but is unable to do anything.

It appears that Elam has come to his senses and leaves the camp, with Charlotte and two other Indian women (White Feathers’ wives?)
When Elam camps for the evening, Charlotte frees herself and attempts to flee the next morning, but Elam doesn’t allow her to do so.
Later, Elam (and group) comes across some railroad tracks…

random thoughts:

  • Interesting episode placement and occurrence. Likely to break things (episode acts) up, besides highlight a certain scenario from the end of last season (Elam’s fate).
  • Needed subtitles for this episode.
  • I wonder if Bendix tells Bohannon if he saw Elam during the ambush encounter.
  • Kinda hope that Charlotte sticks around for a bit, in regards to Elam’s scenario.
  • RockBogart likely enjoyed the scenes where Elam was handling business/women, lol.
  • gif moment of the episode: Elam swatting away the bowl of ‘unwanted’ food.

E5, E4, and E3 episode summary coverage will likely be uploaded at a later time.

S04E05 was great, the opening was probably the coolest opener of the series.

In contrast, This week’s ep was the worst episode of the series.

It started out nice, until…

Elam killed 2 people in cold blood, namely the mild-mannered trader who was trying to help him. It totally derails (no pun intended) Elam’s entire character development throughout the series and makes him into an unlikeable, virtually irredeemable character. Seriously WTF?

this weeks episode was amazing.

Damn, Sid. If not for earlier meeting Naomi (through Bohannon), he probably would’ve taken her out.
“La vida es un misterio.” indeed.
Sid is taken into lockup, and though Bohannon visits him, expects Sid to hang for his crimes.

Swede is brought before Brigham Young and details his life purpose to the Mormon figure.
Young is about to pass down judgment onto Swede, but notes his efforts in getting the Mormon railroad line on it’s way, therefore prolonging Swede’s existence/purpose to the Mormon railway cause.
Dat hate by Swede, "…fire of a thousand suns."
Really though Swede was gonna pull some shit here to get out of trouble, but Young be like, “I see you,”

Jessup’s cohort confronts Durant and beats him down for the aftermath of Jessup’s passing.
Wat. Does Campbell even know about the happenings with his own men.

  • Swede continues to persevere and evade judgement… white shadow mad, lol.
  • Mickey gets payback. Campbell’s cohorts gonna get offed one-by-one through to the end of the season?

Later, Bohannon tells Naomi about Ruth looking after her and the baby while he is out at work.
Bohannon then stops by the railroad office, and though Durant scolds him, he is told to go to work and bypass the shale mountain. Delaney somewhat incompetent and mad at Bohannon.

Ruth is at the general store and there is some convo about Mormon stuffs, when Naomi enters and offers her POV on the subject.

Mickey’s casino is shutdown by Campbell’s group, despite Mickey’s resistance, who is hauled away.
Eva gets slapped. Lucky, Elam, or even Mr. Toole wasn’t around, cause that guy would’ve probably got dealt with.

Swede is brought before the Elders for his confession about his ‘persona’, despite his own deep prayer and reflection about his own actions.
Hatch opposes the Swede’s actions and demands justice, regarding Swede’s sublime event, which he regards as misinterpretation of a vision and revelation.
Only Bohannon knows the truth, which doesn’t seem to hold weight with any other person.
“Praise God.” still a strong statement.

While out surveying, Bohannon encounters some Indians, and though is put on the run, he somewhat seems to find a workaround approach to the railroad’s problem of progress through a mountainous region.

Durant appeals to Campbell about Mickey, but Campbell stands firm on the Mayor’s detainment.

Ruth encounters Naomi about the earlier event from the store and apologizes.
Naomi offers her POV on the matter regarding the polygamy subject, which Ruth tries to comprehend.

Mickey is treated badly by Campbell’s man, who offers water in the form of piss.
Bohannon returns to see the aftermath of the earlier event, and sees Mickey and talk about progress.
The ‘Sean’ namedrop was an interesting touch here.

Damn. Ezra making moves on Ruth. Sean stay rolling over in his grave that he didn’t make comparable progress.

The two then talk about their own POV on women.
Kinda a weird ‘frontier’ “Pretty Woman” moment here.

Uneasy night for the couple; Bohannon does railroad research to pass the time.
Later, he sees Psalms about a possible job opportunity to explore a venture regarding railroad progress.
Bohannon be like, "I gots time before church to get things done."
The plan is to circumvent the mountain by going over, rather than through it.

Campbell meets with Mickey to negotiate new casino ownership rights.
Mickey reluctantly complies and is released; taking his own future into his own hands.

Hatch brings confirmation about the ‘real’ Bishop Dutson, but Swede continues to defy with his own ‘delusion’.
Swede pulls rank and says that only Brigham Young can judge him and calls for him to decide his fate.
Swede is like, “IDGAF. You can’t do anything to me. You’re not Bohannon.”

Naomi appears at church, where Ruth holds a spirited sermon about God.
The sermon causes unease, causing Naomi to leave abruptly.
Bohannon arrives late due to his venture, and upon returning home, Naomi appears to have come to terms with how her family’s homelife in Cheyenne is.

random thoughts:

  • Bohannon giving me ideas for when I play MGS again, lol.
  • Mickey and Campbell’s man continue with their ongoing conflict.
  • Nothing seems to bring Swede down. Only Bohannon can openly challenge him. Praise God.
  • Bohannon’s women confront each other; someone stay jealous.
  • Eva with the strong-style whoring front. Durant be like, “Nope.”
  • It would be Swede to pull rank, saying that only a ‘higher’ power can judge him… Or Bohannon. Hatch stay mad.
  • Ruth stay standing her ground when it comes to her station before Naomi. Bohannon x Ruth ship, yes?

Hell on Wheels - S4 E3

Spoiler

Louise narrates the state of things as Bohannon appearance in town stirs up the interest of various parties.
All those women (Louise, Ruth, even the whores) so excited to see Bohannon return, Naomi should be worried.
Oh, shit… Campbell’s marshal and lackey appear to cause trouble for Bohannon and the missus.
Bohannon in SRS BSNS mode deals with the those who would interfere with his passage as Campbell and Louise look on.
Dude got off lucky with only a pistol whack on the face. IIRC, Bohannon shot a horse when it was blocking his path in an earlier season.

Durant has problems with railroad progress when Bohannon enters the office and tries to get his old job back, but is denied by Durant, who favors Delaney (the new chief engineer).
Bohannon is met by Mickey upon leaving the office, the mayor giving Bohannon a SITREP about Campbell’s doings, besides offering a job… that Bohannon ends up declining. Can’t be doing dangerous stuff anymore with a wife and child in tow.

The Marshal’s stooge stay bitching about his damaged rifle and the superior mentions the possibility of payback. Upon return to their office, the duo is greeted by a coffined man, with Mickey appearing and the parties having a difference of opinion regarding ‘business’ matters.

Elam’s “stand-in” at the Negro camp. Wat.
Psalms greets Bohannon and gives him some of his old stuff back, as well as a job offer that Bohannon accepts.

Louise meets with Ruth and the women have a brief discussion about Bohannon’s return.
Ruth has her own feelings on the matter.
So, about that ‘Bohannon x Ruth’ ship…

Psalms also offers a home/residence to the couple and as they settle in, Bohannon tells Naomi that Ruth can help her out, though Naomi declines the offer of sorts.
lol @ Psalms giving Bohannon the SITREP regarding Ruth (and Ezra)… besides highlighting another woman problem; Eva and the fate of Elam, who went out searching for Bohannon.
Eva mad, but Bohannon keeps his cool.

Louise offers her opinion of Bohannon’s return to status, but Durant counters with his own POV on the matter. Durant lookin salty that Bohannon getting more (positive) attention than himself.
Durant notices a spectacle outside and off in the distance as Campbell stakes his claim on some land for the government and his own agenda.
Eminent Domain land issues arise in the men’s convo, in regards to the railroad, causing Durant to make a move to protect his interests. Chicken coops as a placeholder, really? lol.
Campbell shot down by Louise for the offer of a gentlemanly act/gesture.

Eva appears for work at the casino and says that she’ll gamble for money, which Mickey warns her not to do.
She then joins a table group in play to try her luck.
Money drawn from bosom is so passe… Needs something different, like a skirt pull to the side, where a stocking (or clip) is holding some money, and in the drawing process shows off some leg (or calf for Shaft Agent).

Bohannon joins the men to do some work.
Later, he breaks the tension at lunch with an amusing story.
lol @ the one guy who is kinda clueless.

Naomi tries to procure sundries at the store but is initially unable to, until Campbell steps in and offers his help.

Eva tries to win big and almost does… but she loses to some slick guy, who later has some words for her regarding his ‘ability’ to turn things in his favor.
Eva wishes to learn his craft and offers ‘compensation’ for the knowledge. “When in doubt, whore it out.” - Eva.

Delaney has a plan to blow through and create passageway through rock that Bohannon disagrees with and even offers is POV on the matter, which Delaney ignores.
Bohannon highlights a possible (deadly) scenario that worries the men and suggests a defensive measure.
lol @ Psalms, who’s like, “I don’t wanna get between two feuding white men” and reaction to Bohannon saying that he don’t wanna die either. It’s okay, Psalms. You still HNIC, though.
Bohannon saves Delaney right before the black powder barrel bombs go off and the men survive the shrapnel explosion behind the turned-up tables. Some horses are unlucky and are put down, due to Delaney’s ignorance.

Back in town, Bohannon finds Eva working her laundry job, the woman telling him that she’s been having visions about Elam, where she is a bear that confronts her lost man.

Campbell sees that Durant continues to oppose him with his ‘occupy’ stunt regard land resources and policy.
Chicken cooping should be a thing in RTS or (board)games with property/land stuffs, lol.
Damn. That one guy punched that one whore hard, yo! RockBogart approves.
Random white knight? Boo that man.

Bohannon returns home and is about to sit down to a meal with Naomi, but is interrupted by Campbell.
Campbell tries to win over Bohannon with some nice words and offers a better job status, but Bohannon declines the offer from the ‘carpetbagger’ Campbell.
Bohannon’s like, "Are you for real? Fuck, no… carpetbagger."
Naomi disappointed that her husband has turned down two (good) job offers, but it appears that Bohannon decision aren’t without meaning and purpose, in regards to his (past) experiences and the progress of the railroad.

The story keeps you there, Louise? Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.
This ain’t a story, this be (real) life. Bohannon’s trials and tribulations, with The Swede contributing some chapters here and there.

Bohannon pays a visit to Ruth and Ezra, the latter appears quite happy to see the man, with the former voicing her feelings on Bohannon’s absence.
Poor Ruth with the feels… She does offer her help regarding Bohannon’s request regarding Naomi and baby, despite a possible conflict of interest with religion stuffs.
Bohannon then has a moment with Ezra, and the boy speaks…

Louise voice-overs a montage regarding Bohannon reappearance and what it means for the railroad, alongside Campbell’s venture of bringing civilization to the frontier.
While Bohannon is out for a stroll, he is ambushed and beaten down by Campbell’s marshal and lackey

random thoughts:

  • Business has picked up with Bohannon’s return. Opening scene was pretty good watch in that aspect, as were other encounters with notable series chars throughout.
  • The notable women (Louise, Ruth, and Eva) reacting in their own way to Bohannon, was interesting to see.
  • Eva should’ve gotten ‘domo slapped’ for that spit attempt,
  • Ezra finally spoke… Countdown to Ezra/Swede confrontation begins. If you are familiar with cinema, one scene kinda stands out in regards to a fateful confrontation (The Princess Bride), another one is a bit more subtle probably (Conan the Barbarian).
  • gif moment of the episode: random guy punching random whore.

He was attacked by a bear, & got brain damage because of it. Then he was taken in by Indians who then fucked with his damaged brain to the point where he was just “Bear Killer”

I don’t understand how dumbasses don’t get that that wasn’t Elam anymore & he had to get put down. It doesn’t derail character development, it’s just heartbreaking that it happened to a good person.

gotta admit the last scene was very powerful.
had me teary eyed.
no homo.

Sorry but the writing for the last 2 eps has been fucking retarded. Amnesia doesn’t turn people into violent psychopaths and talk about using one of the dumbest cliches in the history of drama. The idiotic series of events were written to create a scenario where it was ok to kill him off, rather than a set of realistic circumstances to garner sympathy for him. This I why they made Elam kill off one of the more likeable characters on the show and then treat his wives like shit, to lessen the emotional blow for the inevitable sendoff.

I have a feeling Common wanted out of the show for whatever ever reason, so the writers gave him the “Dad on Good Times” treatment.

I almost regret ever creating this thread now…

Hell on Wheels got amazing. unreasonably great acting this week from Ruth
