Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

And once again it’s time to uninstall and re-install this app because update system sucks.

Playing games for fun?

watching krip get screwed by that legendary that lowers your time in turn is funny. that shit happened to me too, except the guy i was playing repeated that process of forcing his turn to go long enough over that i literally wasn’t able to play for 4 turns in a row when dudes at like 5 life… so rage inducing.

Winning is fun though. =X

Incidentally, you’ll almost always be better with decks you find fun to play than decks that you “just pick to win”. Even in highly favorable MUs, my winrate with face hunter is atrocious because I hate the all-in style of the deck. With decks based on getting a superior board presence and converting that into a win (which is my favorite type of deck), however, I tend to make the right decisions more often than with decks I don’t enjoy playing as much. Then again, I don’t particularly have fun if my deck is terrible in the metagame (try playing midrange druid when there are mirror images everywhere, it’s a chore), so I have no qualms about switching decks in this case.

Also, what’s with the whole “netdecking is bad”-thing? I don’t think I’d come up with the archetypes I enjoy playing on my own, because I’m really bad at evaluating both cards and decks, and that goes for most people, so I don’t see a problem with looking up decklists as a basis for what works and what doesn’t.

Hit rank 8. I’m looking at my golden hogger, and all I can see is Alex. I know I should wait until tgt to craft anything, but I’m growing so impatient!

Well if nothing in TGT strikes your fancy and you don’t see yourself using hogger then do it. I did the same thing and didn’t regret it.

I doubt hogger will be nerfed so you aren’t getting a full gold return on him.

I have a regular hogger too, so I’m not losing anything… I just… Gold… So shiny…

Alex is one of the best cards in control warrior though. Great for burst, great to save your ass and gain 10-14 life, and a 8/8 isn’t anything to scoff at either.

You should have done like me and gotten your first golden legendary to be a really great one rather than just a good one (Ragnaros, mweheheh >=] ). Or, you know, a really mediocre/bad one, so that you could disenchant that bitch and turn it into delicious dust and a good legendary instead.

My only 2 gold legendary cards are hogger and mogor. Mogor will be on the short list to go if I need something new crafted!

Golden Mogor should have a 50% chance of disenchanting the wrong card when you try to disenchant him. =V

I dusted hogger, crafted Alex. First game with Alex, up against patron warrior, she won me the game.

Alex is a good card, because its so unique. It fits into many existing playstyles (Control Warrior, Dragon Pally, Freeze Mage, Malygos lock) and there is no substitute to what it can do. Its the card Im closest to crafting, and I will probably craft one when TGT launches and I DE my collection of extras (10k+ dust to work with + what I open). Kibler is using it right now in his Dragon Mage, and its so awesome, and yet without Alex you might as well not run the deck. (Same kind of idea as Freeze Mage, you just kind of need it to heal up from 1 to 15 after ice block, or to bring your opponent down to killable range in a game you have control of).

Golden hogger for Alex is a no brainer IMO, go for it, especially if you have a regular hogger!

This is basically the cousin of scrub logic.

Netdecking is no different than looking up optimal combos/setups for fighting games tbh.

I don’t know bout that. I have the most fun trying different cards and building my own decks. Taking that deck and seeing how it performs, learning how to optimally use it, that is what I enjoy most.

In a card game with all these cards, there are so many possibilities, so many themes to build around. Just looking at the latest tier 1 deck and rolling with it, takes away a lot of the fun. That is just me personally. Piloting a deck is one part of the fun, but building the deck is even more so.

Its almost as if there are different Player Archetypes or something!

For a digital game like Hearthstone, I’d classify another type: The player who only plays to min/max the stuff he/she can earn. Play to rank 20 for cardback, only play during daily quests, play tavern brawl once a week for the pack, etc.

^^^^

You can play whatever “creative” bullshit you want, but don’t get mad at people who want to use typical proven decks.

edit: this wasn’t aimed towards you willy lol i apologize

You should only play honourable decks. Cheap decks are for scrubs.

What is this thing called…honor? I only know of victory.

lol I didn’t take it that way, you’re right. When one person thinks their way is the only one that matters, thats where the issue is. “Cancer” decks work, and they’ll be played, regardless of what deck you run. Some people want to make Dan work, others will just pick O Sagat. Some will play Oro in 3s, others Chun.

Aimed at me I assume? Other people can use whatever deck they want, copied or original.

PS without creative BS, there would be no netdecks to copy.
