If you have those cards in hand, and play emperor on turn 6, you can play warsong, patron, and taskmaster on the same turn. Ouch.
I am building one after work after all this talk. It will help get my golden warrior faster at the very least! Only 400 more wins to go…
Edit: ok I built one at lunch. Didn’t even draw Grim patron, but turn 6 with coin, 1 charge death bite, and nothing on board vs a zoo at 15 health. Warsong commander, frothing berserker, whack face with weapon, zerker gets to 7 attack. Coin out whirlwind, zerker up to 12 attack for lethal.
Still need to try my RNG theory of bouncing blade with zerker and patrons. It’ll either fizzle out quick or create a waking nightmare.
Think my last game with said deck I had 28 health, 32 armor and a board full of fuck you to the face for the win.
If you have Grommash I suggest you stick him in encase you fizzle a bit early. Dropping him for surprise lethal after beer drinking swarm attacks catches people off guard.
Playing non combo grim patron in casual just to get used to it. Went 5-0. It’s just a better version of those frothing warrior decks that popped up about a month ago.
Bodied three Priests and a Mill Rogue in ranked. Was salty so made anti mill mech mage.
One Priest got me down to 6 and kept spamming the taunt button on me. Flamestrike his ass, throw down Antonidos next and start the fireball gravy train, removing any threats he plopped down and put him from 28 to nothing in a few turns.
Well yeah he has the end of turn effect, much like Ysera or Ragnaros. If you don’t get rid of Ysera or Ragnaros in one turn, you are also in big trouble.
The Emperor effect doesn’t have an immediate impact (unless it allows you to play something the same turn you could not otherwise) however can open things up for you on future turns since its effect is guaranteed. He is a must remove when you see him…but there are quite a few cards like that.
Again, yeah he is strong especially with certain decks. People are jumping to conclusions so fast though about him being Overpowered. Thought people were saying that about Kel Thuzad when it came out. Also about Feign Death. Also other new cards released in the past. In 6 months they can evaluate the Emperor and see if anything needs to be change.
Balance is actually pretty awesome in Hearthstone. Many different types of decks succeed at the highest level, class diversity is impressive in tournaments, win rates between classes are relatively close. Balance will never be perfect, but things are constantly shifting in hearthstone and it is always full of variety. Not much one can ask for more than that.
My warrior matches turn into: turn 6 emperor, regardless of board state if not facing lethal. Turn 7 commander, Grim patron, cruel taskmaster, whirlwind. Full board of charged patrons.
Obviously its not every match, but emperor adds so many combos.
I tried to do a Grim Patron Warrior just now. I drew 28 cards in the first test run. Guess what were the last two cards?
EDIT for @jasonC: I think you should at least run another Houndmaster, and get rid of the Silverback Patriarch. You might also want to consider putting in King of Beasts if you want a beast Taunt. It doesn’t look like a rush deck, so I feel the Leper Gnomes are unneeded, and maybe only keeping one webspinner might be better instead. A second UTH might be good too.
Overall, I think King Krush is too slow to be of any use, but getting him from Webspinner can sometimes save the day.
