Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

Yeah where would my incentive to purchase and play be. At that point I’d just be earning easy card backs in an hour and fighting even more Tempo Storm copy/paste decks while earning fuck all for actually playing.

None of that is really a solution that works.

the most interesting deck Ive seen recently is this druid mill deck, my oponent keeps a slow hand size thanks to innervate and plays clockwork giants, naturalize is an evil card

btw, anyone has a complete card list that this deck uses?

I could show you my Millfurion Stormdraw, lacks Clockworks currently.

Its a good deck against control or stall, bad to rush and it isn’t quite there yet to be good. But it is damn fun to play.

Well I think tataki is saying why not give everyone all the cards, but for a set fee. That is where blizzard would get its money.
Then balance all the cards, try to make them all great, and thus there would naturally be a good amount of variety. With digital they can constantly balance and all that.

Because it’s still less than what they would make on their current format unless you just want to turn it into a Subscription Based game where you have to pay to play it outright.

Yes…that’s the point it is less money. A lot less, and that is why it will never change. However for a competitive game the current format is much worse than what is employed for most other genres.

It’s a game that prides itself on RNG above all other CCGs. Blizzard doesn’t care THAT much. They care just enough so people don’t completely turn on the game.

When I know I’m playing Mill Druid, I start making insanely inefficient plays to limit my card hand size. Around turn 8 things can get nasty with Coldlight, Brewmaster, Coldlight or something like that.

Also always try to get them to lethal range, but don’t have it on board. If they see it, they are likely to Tree of Life on turn 9.

…yeah I meet a lot of them for some reason.

Just because gvg centered on RNG doesn’t mean hearthstone does as a whole

BTW they confirmed on twitter it works on each hit of bouncing blades/mad bomber/etc

  1. Remember the first wing of naxx could be unlocked for free, you think they’ll do that for Blackrock Mountain?
  2. I’ve heard card game players saying that bad cards need to exist, or that it is good for the game. Obviously some cards will be better than others due to synergies, strategies, etc. However it seems to be implied that cards made purposefully terrible are somehow a boon for the game. Can someone please explain?
  1. Unlikely, or I imagine they would’ve said so already.
  2. That…is false. Card games seem to love making bad cards but it’s not something helpful. Though there is a difference between outright bad cards and niche cards that can get better later. Card games do need the latter.

outright bad cards are a pretty good learning tool though. Once you can understand why Magma Rager is bad, you’ve learned a lot about the game in the process.

Sweet, my explosion deck sees more life. Now if the Warrior 2/3 charge chick could get fixed I could make a mean Warrior deck that isn’t the one Warrior deck everyone already uses.

Warrior needs help.

They said there will be no free wing this time.

I got hit for 26 damage by a otk warrior who had no board and a deaths bite equipped. Fun times.

I really don’t see that card working great. It’s a 5 mana 3/3 that needs a combo to do something. Idk I’m just not seeing it.

You can combo with it for sure, and that is where the fun comes from.

But the main thing I like is it is another panic card. By that I mean people will over exaggerate its strength and use unnecessary removal or trades to get rid of it. Same way people react to Venture Co and Sylvanas.

So either:

A- He wastes a precious removal card on a 3/3 with an interesting effect, or throws something big into it to kill it in one go weakening his board.

B- attempts to ignore and go face, giving me the time to set up a combo and dictate what happens.

Only thing that trumps it in my case is AOE removal like spell damage lightning storm or a flame strike.

Not saying it is the best. But I’ve seen far worse and I really want to experiment with this.

Wouldn’t interesting cards with strong potential but big drawbacks be a better way to teach? Like Magma rager still has his crappy stats, but some interesting effect. You would still understand the problem with having 1hp, but also not have a wasted card.

Not really, and if every card ever put out was viable it would cause people to buy less. That and a currently crap card could become good with a future release. I have hopes for Magma Rager and Fairies Dragon to see improvements based on this theme currently. Hell a card that gives Magma Ragerr charge, or one that works similar to Thermaplugg would be fun.

Unlike other CCGs when you do get commons you can at least get dust value out of them. I used to have boxes of useless commons because everyone else had the exact same thing, so I appreciate that aspect and the fact that I don’t have to spend money if I don’t want to.

People buy more than enough. Making crap cards to make people buy more is very scammy. People should open packs and see at least potential in all cards, not some that are garbage/useless. Again hearthstone at least seems that it tries to not do this.

I do see elementals getting buffed as well. Yeah maybe a card that gives all elementals charge.
