This deck has seen a few changes, most recent one being dropping the Murloc Raider for Earth Shock instead. See how that plays out in the long run.
Coldlight Oracle, Spiritwalker, and Neptulon get you Draw/Cards to keep the pace going. The Murlocs work in unison similar to Slivers in MTG: IE, a single Murloc isnāt going to do much, but getting them all together wrecking shit it gets out of control. I also find that with Neptulon it has surprising reach and Iāve been able to body Control decks well into the late stages.
Dr. Boom is just there to eat removal and be sexy for a turn, think I have very rare instances of him actually doing anything in any of my decks, but I get the bombs so it doesnāt matter. Sylvanas is a counter play to steal something that could be bothersome or eat more panic removal. Black Knight is to bypass taunts and keep the Murlocs from killing themselves against it. Lightning Storm is there to either tell Mech Mage to sit the hell down or to clear board for the Murlocs, and Hex does itās thing of pissing people off playing their win cards.
Try it out, I actually fought a Shaman yesterday who was someone I played a few weeks back using my old incarnation of the deck. That was a hype moment. Beats trying to get the only good Mech Shaman play going repeatedly.
Congrats Juun, reaching legend, thatās impressive! Why does the game suck?
So you need more and more stars, as you go up, and then the bonus stars from win streaks is no more once you get rank 5. So I guess then you have to win a high percentage of games to move up. How much of a grind is it, how long would it take with a reasonably good win%?
Kezan mystic is the ultimate screw you card, so it is great running them (or 2!)ā¦just for the tremendous satisfaction of stealing someoneās carefully set up secret. Got to love it. Wish it was 3/4 instead of 4/3 though.
Iām assuming that JuuM says that the game sucks because you are heavily disincentivized to run control until rank 5. Youāre not rewarded any more for winning on turn 15 versus turn 5, so just playing more games is better than playing fewer, but winning more often.
Possibly, if the only enjoyment of said deck type comes from a reward. I donāt mind running control in ranked, because I like those kind of wins, and I like to beat the meta of unthinking rush.
I like what is I guess classified as midrange. I want my big baddies, but I donāt want to just stall the first few turnsā¦I want to be doing something every turn.
Itās true, but you can learn a new deck in hearthstone in a day, when learning a new character in a fighting game can take a year to get to the level you were at with your other character.
If i could have learned Akuma as fast as I learned how to play face hunter i wouldnāt have wasted years playing Blanka.
I donāt really see anyway around this though. Aggro and control both have to be viable for the game to have variety. If it was all control it would be a snoozefest same if it was all aggro. Aggro by its very nature is going to be shorter, faster games.
I do wish they didnāt reset ranks every month, then you can work your way up the ladder at your own pace.
People definitely did in 3s, but sometimes a characterās playstyle clicks with you more, and there was a perception for awhile that Yun was the best character. People will gravitate to the best character even if they are harder to play because they want that character strength.
Thats also a long term investment and isnāt just āladderingā though. There also wasnāt any chance of people playing a new updated version of 3s. A lot of people have not gravitated to high tiers in sf4 because they just assume they are going to get nerfed anyways so why waste 6 months to a year o time to end up playing a character who is lower tier than the one you were playing in the first place? If a class gets nerfed in HS itās usually more minor and a pretty easy switch to another deck.
Anyways, enough digression. I pulled a troggzor today and my 2015 arena results look like this now

average starting to dip a bit with a lack of 12ās/11ās to push it up. I like that iām clustering between 7-9 though, and no truly awful runs to sink me. My winrate vs. rogue is pretty atrocious and i donāt know what i can really do to improve other than change my class choices. Not mad about losing to the 4x eviscerate deck with oil+blade flurry, but even averagish ones seem to out attrition me above 5~ wins.
Iām mostly tired of hate cards and now being forced to play them (Kezan) or cards that have been straight up too good since Naxx. My opponent drew Mad Scientist or Freezing Trap? and I donāt have my 1of Kezan, might as well concede. My opponent drew Harrison? might as well concede. Pretty miserable.
Ever had a play that puzzled you? I was playing Arena, and my Paladin opponent dumped all his cheap 2-health minions on boardā¦and then dumped an Abomination to protect them.
Just stared at it until the fuse started cause I was like, āThereās got to be a trickā¦ā
JuuM thatās just the way it is. 95% of people just copy decks, so you constantly see the same cards. As for mad scientist I thought that was a response to Blizz feeling secrets were overall underpowered and not played much. Kirin tormage is great but that is a mage only card. Trust me the thing I like least in this game is secrets, but blizzard wants them a strong part of the game. I think if Kezan mystic was 3/4 like I said earlier (so a tiny 2 drop canāt knock it out) I think it would be fine. It is a hard counter.
I finally got a second mechwarper. I guess I should join in the mech mage madness before it is nerfed. Oh the double mech warper, then Goblin blastmage to wipe the opponents board. Sweet.
Problem is if they arenāt running secrets, Kezan is just a bad 4 drop. And out of the classes that can use them only Mage and Hunter ever consistently put them in a deck.
Iām not sold on it, especially when I run a single BGH and there has been dozens of games where it has been a dead card in my hand.
Yeah thatās the problem. BGH averages to 6 stats with effect which is solid for a 3 drop, just bad distribution. Kezan averages to 7 stats with effect for a 4 drop which is means it is low value for its cost. On top of that the distribution is poor.
I run 2 kezan mystic, fel reaver, venture co mercenary, every silence I have, 2 acidic swamp ooze in my warlock deck but that is just for laughs. Kezan mystic seems to be more of a tournament card, facing a mage or hunter definitely would have at least one.
Shaman got good RNG on me, so went for broke and dropped a naked Alex to change his health and bait out something to stall. He doesnāt have any answers and just clutters the board.
Drop rag and hit face with Alex, setting up my RNJesus candles and ceremonial carpet. He gifts me and Rag hits the face for super lethal.
Of all the days for hearthstone to update⦠I really canāt believe they donāt have a phone release yet. Iām the only one who made it to work today, network is down⦠/sigh.
Priest is my best class in arena! Followed by mage then pally. My mage has a wider range of wins but averages higher than pally. So your numbers look pretty consistent with mine.
